Yeh, less that what I'd have dreamed for Lukic but, as yall say - more than we paid and turning 30 imminently, having got our moneys worth and a year left on contract (with an extension we haven't trigggered yet) so it makes financial sense.

Also a day or 2 ago FFN mentioned he'd heard rumblings we were potentially looking at a Croatian defender but he wasn't sure who...assumption seemed to lean towards Sutalo because he's been linked before.

I remember reading something about the Lukic fee, I think we paid over £10m for him.

£9m in this market is very low for what he brings. I don't think you could bring someone in for the same money who would be either better or on par to be honest - it will's be difficult to do in this market anyway.

Ipswich making some solid EPL signings care of Fulham, both established and solid internationals.
Any experienced replacements are going to cost considerably more in this  market.
Diop - 73 Fulham appearances
Lukic - 90 Fulham appearances.
Perfect for a promoted club.
Both fit, good injury history and in our starting XI at the end of the last season.

so he is a Tom Carney replacement (in the treatment room).

That makes no sense. TC doesn't have a long history of injuries. He was out for a total of 2-3 weeks last season and before that his last injury was in 2023 and before that was in 2021.

I should have added a laughing emoji, the point I was trying to make was, we are potentially signing an injured player who is touted to replace Tom who is currently injured.
whilst on the subject of injuries it seems that the 'Tete is always injured' line is constantly trotted out, I believe that last season Kenny played the 10th most minutes for us, and two of the injuries he suffered in the last 2 seasons have been where he has been caught by a late challenge rather than his body letting him down.

Ignoring for now the defensive upgrades required, if we close the window with something like the front six options listed below  it will have been one helluva window.

Is two more wingers overkill with the likes of Sess, Iwobi and ESR able to cover LW at least. Maybe just a Wilson replacement for RW competition?

Hate to beat the drum again and again, but in my eyes we're in need of experience.

Strikers, Muniz is inconsistent at this level, JKA is young and Garcia, whilst exciting, has hardly a full season under his belt.

Wings, Kevin and Bobb are exciting, but we're yet to see goalscoring end product from bobb. Hopefully Kevin can kick on from a promising first season, but it's still relatively unknown, and he didn't score loads last season.

Esr I'd put more in central positions. Palacios is even less experienced in the men's game than our front three (well perhaps bar JKA).

They may all be exceptionally talented, but they've not quite nailed it yet and we have no experienced players for them to lean on should game management be needed, or for morale if things go south.

6 and 8 are looking slightly better, but Cairney and Reed are old now and on way out, and you can't suggest we've got all angles covered with just Berge and Iwobi in a decent period of their career. Pitarch does look very exciting, but there are ifs and buts around adapting and playing week in week out. Charles is more experienced, but not without flaws and in a League lower, where its less technical and you get more time on the ball.

We need more experience in my book.

Why we're letting so much go for so little prices is beyond me. We've lost a large chunk of our goals for free, a world cup qf CB go for hardly anything, and now letting a reliable if not spectacular pl performer and Serbian international go for peanuts to strengthen a rival

Just saw a tweet that Lukic only got 2 goals and 4 assists across three seasons with us, and 24 yellow cards. I think we need to be looking for midfielders who can chip in a lot more frequently with goals which has been one of our issues in recent seasons.

Totally agree Sasha was solid and reliable but didn't contribute enough going forward, good luck to him at Ipswich will always be welcome back at the Cottage

Unpopular opinion but I don't think 9 mil for Lukic is that bad. He's almost 30 and on the last year of his contract, we've basically recouped what we paid for him and I can only see his value depreciating from here.

He probably doesn't have the speed or legs to suit AA high press tactics

Lukic had more yellow cards than goal involvements from CM, he is 30 next week and wasn't getting any better. If he was here as depth or making up the numbers then cool but if he's not postively contributing at 30 years old we're better off selling him (at a profit btw) than letting another average PL player leave for free.

Not sure why it would be unpopular? He's 30 next week and in his last year. Heard people talking about 15m😂. Think it's about right and he's been a decent servant and will do a good job for Ipswich but not a massive loss

When you say experience - I'm curious as to whether you mean premier league experience or just general experience (ie older players)

I would argue we still have a lot of experience in Tete, Castagne, Andersen, Leno, Robinson, Berge, Reed, Cairney and Iwobi.

I don't think Diop should have gone but I don't agree that selling a 30 year old Lukic for what we paid for him isn't a good business decision.

I see people suggest March and Murphy (Newcastle) as players we can bring in too give us some experience but to be honest I would rather have players that are going to challenge the starters and help us push on than signing players with 150 premier league appearances who are passed their best.

People complain when our squad is too old and complain when our squad is too young. I think even if we finished the window bringing in Abdelhamid, Pitarch, Charles and Nwaneri we would still have enough experience.

We were in serious need of reducing our average age so this window has been quite successful in that regard. I don't mind if we replaced all who's left with young uns. We still have plenty of age and experience.
