I would, worth a punt definitely on a free. Only 26 and I think there is a player in there.
In his prime he was one of the best wingers in Europe.

That was 6 years ago, he no longer has the physical ability or commitment to perform at the top level.

We could get Dele Ali in as well as he was class once too!

Obviously completely different, last season Sancho was a regular for a Villa team that finished 4th whereas Ali hasn't played in over a year.

On a free (wages dependent) I think he would be a good pickup for us. Similar Situ to Lingard at West Ham

Sancho seems to be marmite amongst the Villa fans. He's got serious attitude issues and widely reported professionalism issues, not supposed to be good for the dressing rooms either so yeh, he's different to Ali, but as you described him as one of the best in Europe (in his prime), I don't think its a totally irrelevant reference. Plus, the wages he'll be demanding just means it all a bit of a non starter anyway.

But, I do think there's some creative licensing going here to polish a turd....'as a regular for a Champions League Side'....Prem - 6 starts out of 23 appearances - CL 3 starts out of 13 appearances - Not sure this smacks of a regular.

All I will say is two of my closest mates support Villa and Chelsea (I know...), and they both think he was rubbish for them.

I see Palace are shipping out Brennan Johnson just six months after having signed him for £35M. As far As I can see, they've arranged a straight swap with Everton for Dwight McNeil - a player Palace had lined up for £20M last January only for the move to fall through due to paperwork not being submitted in time. In effect, therefore, Palace are taking a £15M hit on Johnson. I'm relating this because there are times on this forum where our transfer dealings are compared disparagingly to the likes of Palace. But no club gets it right every time. I think sometimes that gets overlooked.

We have had in effect an opposite strategy when it comes to failing players. Many stay too long and mop up wages probably not too far dissimilar from that 15m loss or they leave for nothing (either because we literally cannot get rid of them because nobody wants them or because they won't sign a new contract, which I actually don't blame the club for personally)

Palace have been able to get rid precisely because of the profile they have bought comparatively. There will still be a buyer for Johnson all day long given his previous exploits in the prem and his age. Same as Chelsea. Their policy of buying youth means if it doesn't work out there'll still be a buyer most of the time.

Perhaps this window shows it was Silvas fault (god help the club ever being criticised for some) but that's a different discussion

It's a fair point, we're seeing this with City and Chelsea where even if young players flop (Delap, Trafford for example) they're still able to offload them for a sizeable fee, sometimes even for a profit.

16 goals last season for AZ Alkmaar in 28 games.

Looks a bargain in today's market. We need competition up front and sadly Rodrigo hasn't measured up.

We bought Garcia for a significant amount and already signed up JKA to a permanent deal, we aren't gonna spend out on another striker this Summer. Parrot flatters to deceive for me, if people weren't impressed enough by Pepi's scoring record on eredivisie then not sure how many would be excited by Troy, who isn't close to that goalscoring level and feels very championship/low prem to me. No more tested in a decent league than Muniz who has at least had an impressive scoring record per 90 in the best league in the world (particuarly in seasons he hasn't been injured.)

GPM are different leagues as someone pointed out above. Pepi had a few injuries along that way but has been one of the most efficient scorers in Europe GPM wise. Not that I'm advocating for Ricardo at this stage given clubs make very clear there's something seriously amiss injury wise regarding him

Interesting how every single deal we are doing is for players 22 or younger, and all the players moved on were 29 of older.

It's a massive shift and one we all felt we needed. We still have plenty of experienced senior players except for in the front line really, depending on where Iwobi plays.
