I read the book some time ago, heartbreaking and wonderful in equal measure!

I too read that book. Very emotional. What a character he was.

Just bought the kindle version. Love a good biography at the best of times so particularly looking forward to reading this.

Brian Clough was so much more than just about football. A story that contains forgiveness.

HV71

My cousin was a top driver in the Nottinghamshire police force . One day he was told to go to the City Ground and pick up Brian Clough and bring him back to Sherwood Lodge for lunch with the Chief Constable. He duly did so - and opened the door for Clough who , dressed in his green top and blue tracksuit bottoms,  got into the back of the unmarked car.

After they had been driving for about ten minutes Clough said " Young man - you keep looking at me, I know you are - you are wondering why I'm turning up for lunch - with your gaffer -  wearing a tracksuit ? Well let me tell you he's going to be wearing his bloody uniform - so I'm wearing mine !"

After lunch and on the way back Cloughie said " Come into the office with me when we get to the ground and I will give you match tickets for you and your colleagues "

The guy loved the game and always looked after the workers rather than the top brass. Should have managed England

Woolly Mammoth

Brian Clough, an English Legend in his own Life Time.
As already been said he should have managed England.
He was the people's Manager.

But at the time the stuff shirts at the FA wanted a yes man.
That is one bloke that will never ever be forgotten. Charisma was his middle name.
Its not the man in the fight, it's the fight in the man.  🐘

Never forget your Roots.

His sons as well as Cloughie, come out of this, with a lot of credit as well. The fella telling the story. The boy who the Clough family took under their wing. Still can't forgive himself for letting them down.
