Tottenham contact PGMOL over refereeing concerns after Fulham defeat
Spurs frustrated by perceived inconsistencies in decisions in recent matches

Tottenham have written to the head of Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) to express concerns over the standard of refereeing in their recent matches.

Standard Sport understands the club is primarily concerned with perceived inconsistencies relating to contact in the penalty area which have seen some goals stand and others disallowed. The club feel they have had such decisions go against them too often this season.

Their complaint has been lodged directly with Howard Webb, chief of PGMOL.

Randal Kolo Muani saw an equaliser controversially disallowed during last month's north London derby after he pushed off Arsenal defender Gabriel, who went to ground.

"It is a clear foul, end of," said referee Peter Bankes on RefCam footage.

That goal being disallowed was seen as a letter of the law decision, but Spurs were frustrated not to see the same sentiment applied to Harry Wilson's goal on Sunday, which helped Fulham to a 2-1 victory over Igor Tudor's side at Craven Cottage.

Raul Jimenez pushed off Radu Dragusin in the build-up to that goal as they challenged one another for an aerial duel, but the contact was not considered forceful enough to warrant a foul.

The defeat at Fulham left Tottenham just four points clear of the relegation zone, and Tudor slammed the decision to let the goal stand.

Under-18s report: Chelsea 2-3 Fulham
Chelsea Under-18s suffered a disappointing defeat at Cobham, as west London neighbours Fulham produced a second-half fightback to overturn a two-goal deficit and claim victory.

The Blues made the ideal start as, having asserted our dominance, Sol Gordon opened the scoring after just six minutes. Our lead was doubled soon after through Mathis Eboue, who finished clinically.

Fulham had carried a threat throughout the opening period and found a route back into the game when Brodie Dair pulled a goal back. However, after a positive and controlled first-half display, we went into the interval ahead.

Despite starting the second half with attacking intent, it was Fulham who netted the all-important fourth goal of the game. Khai Valley struck the leveller and, with the visitors carrying momentum, they forced an own goal from Reggie Watson.

The Blues pushed hard in the 15 minutes that remained, giving everything in search of an equaliser. But we couldn't overturn Fulham's advantage and missed out on Under-18 Premier League points.

Perfect start
The Blues wasted little time in establishing an advantage in this London derb. Our opener arrived from a lightning counter-attack, which saw Chizaram Ezenwata deliver a perfectly weighted long ball for Gordon, who used his blistering pace to outrun his marker and fired a composed low strike into the back of the net.

Soon after the restart, Ezenwata drove forward into Fulham's half and fed Mahdi Nicoll-Jazuli inside the box. The midfielder unleashed a powerful effort, but Fulham were fortunate as the effort flew just wide.

The visitors' first threatening moment arrived soon after. Quinn Schutter burst into the box and fired from a tight angle, only to be denied by the legs of returning goalkeeper Toby Bell.

We remained composed, though, and doubled our advantage with a slick move. Watson picked out Ezenwata with a precise pass, he ran onto the ball and delivered a smart cross for Eboue, who smashed home. It was a brilliant demonstration of teamwork from the young Blues.

Despite our control, Fulham pulled a goal back ten minutes before the interval. Nazim Benchaita sent a long ball over the top to Valley, whose cross found striker Dair, whose low right-footed strike beat Bell to reduce the deficit.

We almost quickly restored our two-goal cushion when debutant Yisa Alao made a surging run and unleashed a low strike from a tight angle. But the ball skimmed wide of the post. Despite the miss, our first-half performance had been bright and full of promise, and we deserved to be ahead.

Tension grows
We returned to the pitch with the same confidence we had shown before the break, and Ezenwata continued his search for a goal. The forward came close early in the second period, meeting the ball with power, but his effort drifted just over the crossbar.

Another chance followed. Substitute Jashyade Greenwood drove purposefully upfield before sliding the ball across to Ezenwata. Our forward struck it first time, yet once again the attempt flew narrowly over the bar. The pressure was building, but the finish would not come.

Fulham then rallied and found their equaliser. Joe Obeng-John launched a long ball upfield to Valley, who brought it down well and drove into the penalty area. The winger kept his composure and fired a low strike into the bottom corner to make it 2-2, shifting the momentum and leaving the Blues frustrated.

Fulham soon turned the game on its head, as they went in front. Sustained pressure on our backline forced a loose pass, which Alfie White capitalised on. He delivered a dangerous cross into the area and in an unfortunate attempt to clear, Watson diverted the ball into his own net.

Frustration in the air
We continued to apply pressure as we searched for a route back into the contest. Nicoll-Jazuli went close to finding the equaliser, but his effort lacked the accuracy needed to trouble Mayer in between the sticks. Frustration began to grow among the Blues.

We threw everything forward in the closing stages and pushed hard deep into stoppage time. Lewi Richards delivered a dangerous cross that Ezenwata rose to meet. However, it was not to be.

Despite our late surge, the equaliser didn't come and it proved a disappointing end to our afternoon as we narrowly missed out on league points.

What it means
Following this result, Chelsea Under-18s sit second in the Under-18 Premier League South table with 36 points - just one point behind leaders Tottenham Hotspur - and still have a game in hand on the London side.

What's next
Chelsea Under-18s will return to league action this weekend, hosting West Bromwich Albion on Saturday at Cobham, with kick-off scheduled for midday.

Supporters around the world can watch the match live and free of charge on the Chelsea Official App and on our website.

Fulham winger Kevin has surgery
Fulham winger Kevin has undergone surgery on his foot.

The Brazilian suffered an injury to his fifth metatarsal during the Whites' recent win at Sunderland.

The operation appears to have gone well but the club are unsure when Kevin will be available for selection.

"Everything went well. Difficult to say what is going to be the timescale of the rehabilitation, but everything went well and now is the moment for him to start the rehab," said boss Marco Silva.

"Let's hope everything goes in the direction that we expect."

Joachim Andersen will return to the squad for Wednesday's game against West Ham, having missed out against Tottenham at the weekend because of illness.

Harry Wilson picked up an ankle injury in that game and will be assessed before Silva names the side to face the Hammers.

Silva explained: "Joachim is 100%. He's OK. Harry is one of the players that I said we have to keep assessing and see.

"Tomorrow we are going to take some important decisions related to the game and with the squad list.

"Joachim was not injured, it was an illness, and he's ready to go again."

Sources: Man United's stance on Mason Mount sale as Aston Villa and Fulham swoop
Manchester United have no intention of selling midfielder Mason Mount in this summer's transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.

The former England international has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford in recent weeks, but it is understood that the Red Devils are happy with him and are focusing on trying to get him back to full fitness.

Former United chief scout Mick Brown recently told Football Insider that Aston Villa and Fulham were both chasing a deal for Mount, but sources say that it will be difficult for either club to sign him this summer.

Man United's transfer stance on the 27-year-old is clear, while it would likely take a significant outlay for any club to be able to change that at all.

Mason Mount closing in on Man United return
Mount has seen the second half of his season heavily disrupted by injuries after he picked up a knock in the early weeks of 2026.

The former Chelsea star hasn't featured for the Red Devils since his cameo appearance at the end of the victory over Manchester City on 17 January, and hasn't even featured in a matchday squad since 25 January.

However, there finally appears to be light at the end of the tunnel in terms of his recovery, with interim boss Michael Carrick revealing that Mount is back in training ahead of last weekend's clash with Crystal Palace, according to The Standard.

It is expected that Wednesday's trip to Newcastle will come too soon for him to feature in the squad, but it is clear that he is now growing ever closer towards a return to the fold.

Mount made a bright start to the campaign with three goals in his opening 12 Premier League appearances in 2025-26, and Carrick will be hoping that he can hit the ground running when he returns to full fitness.

The Red Devils are handily placed to earn Champions League football for next term, and Mount may return in time to help them secure their qualification in the coming weeks.

Man United's chances of signing Amadou Onana revealed
Former Aston Villa chief executive Keith Wyness recently told Football Insider that Man United have a "good chance" of signing Villa midfielder Amadou Onana this summer.

The Scottish businessman outlined that his former club would likely value the Belgian at around the £50million mark, with a view to recouping their initial outlay to sign him from Everton.

Wyness added that he feels Onana would be a success at Old Trafford if he were to complete the move, while also suggesting that it could be a move that "benefits all parties," given Villa's PSR situation.

A move for Onana would bolster the Red Devils' midfield ranks even further, but their stance in relation to Mount's future at the club already appears to be set in stone.

Nuno to worry as official Premier League announcement for Fulham rings in West Ham first
Nuno Espirito Santo may have some worries ahead of facing Fulham as he looks to keep West Ham in the Premier League.

The Hammers were on the end of both misfortune and fortune over the weekend, as they conceded four deflected efforts against Liverpool in a 5-2 defeat.

West Ham's performance was not reflective of that scoreline, and a closer affair would have been a better portrayal.

However, the loss did not affect much in the battle to survive, as five of the bottom six fell to defeat, besides last-placed Wolves.

This leaves the East London club in the same position, and there is still plenty to fight for in the battle to survive.

Now, there could be more concern ahead of facing Fulham due to the Premier League's appointment for the referee.

Referee Matt Donohue appointed for West Ham vs Fulham – set for career first
Matt Donohue is set to take charge when Fulham travel to London Stadium on Wednesday evening, with the referee to be joined by Tim Wood and Wade Smith as his linesmen, as per the Premier League.

Additionally, John Brooks will be on VAR duties with Alex Chilowicz assisting at Stockley Park.

Unfortunately for Hammers fans, there is nothing to look back on with Donohue and how he officiates West Ham games.

That is because Wednesday evening will be the first match he will referee involving the Irons.

However, he has refereed four Premier League matches throughout his career, and he appears to be quite strict.

On average, he dishes out 5.5 yellow cards per game and has awarded three penalties in those five matches.

Why Nuno could worry about Matt Donohue vs Fulham
While there is nothing to look back on regarding the Hammers, Nuno will have some concerns based on Fulham's record.

Wednesday evening's opponents have been involved in four games with Donohue as referee, and they hold a 100 per cent record.

In three of those games, the Cottagers have scored three or more goals, offering a bad omen for the Portuguese manager.

Hopefully, Donohue's first West Ham game can put an end to that win streak, as three points is absolutely vital based on the upcoming fixtures.

This could be Nuno's best opportunity to get a win over the next couple of weeks, as West Ham face Man City and Aston Villa in the Premier League next after Fulham.

Fulham vs West Ham United: Preview and Prediction
Fulham will host West Ham United at Craven Cottage on Wednesday, and they will look to build on their recent improvement in form while adding to the visitors' woes.

Fulham have picked up three wins in a row across all competitions, and they will be desperate to clinch another victory in the Premier League game vs West Ham United at Craven Cottage on Wednesday.

Marco Silva's men lost their way a few weeks ago, but they have bounced back strongly. It will be interesting to see if they can produce a strong performance here and climb up the table. The West London outfit will be aiming to finish in the top half this season.

Meanwhile, West Ham United are 18th in the Premier League table, and they are fighting for survival. The Hammers have picked up just one win from their last five Premier League matches, and they will be desperate to pick up a win here. It will be interesting to see if they can grind out a positive result. The Hard Tackle takes a closer look at the encounter ahead of the latest meeting between the two sides.

Team News & Tactics
Fulham
Kevin is ruled out of the game against West Ham United due to an ankle injury. However, Joachim Anderson (illness), Sasa Lukic (hamstring), and Harry Wilson (knock) face late fitness tests to determine their availability.

Fulham will shape up in a 4-2-3-1 formation vs West Ham, with Bernd Leno in goal. Timothy Castagne and Antonee Robinson will start as the full-backs here, and they will look to help the team at both ends of the pitch. Joachim Andersen will start alongside Jorge Cuenca in the central defensive partnership. Calvin Bassey will start if Anderson is not fit and available.

As for the midfield unit, Sander Berge and Harrison Reed will add defensive cover and physicality in the double pivot in the middle of the park. The central dup will look to win the ball back for their side.

Emile Smith Rowe will start as the attacking midfielder here, and he will look to create opportunities for his teammates in the final third. Oscar Bobb and Harry Wilson will start on the flanks, and they will look to add pace and flair to the side. Finally, Raul Jimenez will spearhead the Fulham attack vs West Ham United on Wednesday.

Probable Lineup (4-2-3-1): Leno, Castagne, Andersen, Cuenca, Robinson; Reed, Berge; Bobb, Smith Rowe, Wilson; Jimenez

West Ham United
Lukasz Fabianski will miss out due to a lower back injury. Meanwhile, Freddie Potts will be unavailable due to suspension, and Pablo has a calf injury. West Ham United will shape up in a 4-2-3-1 formation vs Fulham, with Mads Hermansen in goal.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka and El Hadji Malick Diouf will start as the full-backs. They will look to contribute at both ends of the pitch. Konstantinos Mavropanos will start alongside Axel Disasi at the heart of the defence.

As for the midfield unit, Tomas Soucek will start alongside Soungoutou Magassa in the double pivot. They will look to add defensive cover and physicality to the midfield. Mateus Fernandes will start as the attacking midfielder here, and he will look to create goal-scoring chances for his teammates.

Jarrod Bowen and Crysencio Summerville will add creativity, flair, and goals from the flanks. Finally, Taty Castellanos will lead the line for West Ham United vs Fulham at Craven Cottage on Wednesday.

Probable Lineup (4-2-3-1): Hermansen; Wan-Bissaka, Mavropanos, Disasi, Diouf; Soucek, Magassa; Bowen, Fernandes, Summerville; Castellanos

Key Stats

West Ham United have failed to win four of their last five Premier League matches.
Fulham have picked up three wins from their last three matches in all competitions.
Fulham have picked up three wins from the last six matches against West Ham. 16 goals have been scored in the last six matches between these two teams.
West Ham have lost seven of their eight Premier League London derbies this season (W1). Only three sides have lost more all-London games in a single campaign in the competition: Charlton Athletic in 2006/07 (8), QPR in 2014/15 (8), and Fulham in 2018/19 (10).
Harry Wilson has been directly involved in 15 goals in the Premier League this season (9 goals, 6 assists); the last Fulham player to record more in a single campaign in the competition was Dimitar Berbatov in 2012/13 (18 – 15 goals, 3 assists).

Player to Watch
Jarrod Bowen
The West Ham United attacker is our key player to watch out for. Nuno Espirito Santo will need him to step up and produce in the final third if they want to win the game. Bowen has been their main source of creativity and goals, and it will be interesting to see if he can help his team pick up all three points.

Meanwhile, Bowen has scored five of West Ham's last nine London derby goals in the Premier League. However, the Englishman has never found the net in four appearances at Craven Cottage in the division, only playing more times at the Etihad Stadium and Goodison Park without a goal (both 5).

West Ham desperately needs a win here, and they are fighting for their place in the Premier League next year. It will be interesting to see if the England international can step up and make a difference in the final third. Bowen has the quality to trouble the Fulham defence, and he could look to create opportunities and find the back of the net.

Prediction
Fulham 1-1 West Ham United
Both teams will be fighting for a win here, and this is likely to be a cracking contest. Fulham are the better team on current form, but this will be a challenging game. West Ham are desperate for a good result, and they will look to put up a fight here.

There is no doubt that Nuno Espirito Santo has quality players at his disposal, and they should be doing a lot better than they have in recent months. This is likely to be an evenly matched contest, and it will be difficult to separate the two teams. They are likely to cancel each other out and share the spoils in a draw.

Marco Silva: Axel Disasi and Taty Castellanos make West Ham 'completely different'
West Ham United will have the likes of Taty Castellanos and Axel Disasi available during Wednesday's trip to Fulham; Nuno Espirito Santo going head to head with fellow Portuguese Marco Silva at Craven Cottage.

In fact, of the eleven players who started for Nuno during December's 1-0 home defeat by the Cottagers, arguably only four are expected to start this midweek.

Freddie Potts is suspended, this the final match of his three-game ban. Mads Hermansen should keep his place over Alphonse Areola, while that four-man backline of Kyle Walker-Peters, Ollie Scarles, Max Kilman and Jean-Clair Todibo has been replaced by Aaron Wan-Bissaka, El Hadji Malick Diouf, Konstantinos Mavropanos and Axel Disasi thanks to the end of AFCON and a lively January transfer window.

Marco Silva acknowledges the impact made by the 'experienced' Disasi while, at the other end, Taty Castellanos will hope to build on his consolation effort in Saturday's 5-2 defeat by Liverpool.

The difference in mood brought about by a couple of new signings proves that, yes, there really is value to be found in January.

Marco Silva thinks West Ham United have benefited from January signings
Speaking to the Fulham's official website ahead of Wednesday's 7.30pm kick-off in West London, Silva warns his players to expect a 'completely different' team from the one they beat nearly three months ago.

Ollie Scarles walked off in tears that day after gifting Raul Jimenez his 85th minute winner. The young left-back is one of seven players who started on December 27th who are now stuck on the bench or – in the case of Lucas Paqueta – have moved onto pastures new.

"They are in a completely different moment. Of course, they are not a completely different team, but I can see many differences there [from the December meeting]," Silva says.

"They signed some players, and they readjusted the squad a little bit last January, but you see the organisation is there. They have been very difficult to beat. Even in games that they lost, they played a big part. Even last game against Liverpool, you can feel [their improvement].

"[They signed new players] more in the frontline, but also with an experienced central defender. You can feel it, definitely. Many things are different.

"You can feel their organisation and confidence. It is not easy to be in the position they are in, playing with confidence. That is the reason why they have been able to get some points and have been difficult to beat."

Fulham boss praises the Hammers' display in Liverpool loss
He might have scored an own goal against Liverpool but, already, many West Ham fans are hoping to see Axel Disasi stay at the club long-term. The Frenchman is keeping compatriot Jean-Clair Todibo out the team; bringing both an impressive array of passes and also some much-needed aerial prowess in both boxes.

And, as Nuno himself said post match, a 5-2 defeat by the reigning champions was nowhere near as one-sided as the scoreline suggests. Arne Slot admitted that the result flattered Liverpool. West Ham even won the 'XG' battle, with Castellanos joining Tomas Soucek on the scoresheet.

"If you analyse the game, the chances they created... Of course can see they conceded from three set-pieces in the first-half [but] they were always there creating moments, and you can feel they are in a different moment now compared to the Christmas period," adds Silva.

"We understand their quality, their individual quality. They have top players who can decide the game. We respect the quality but we look to ourselves, the momentum is here with our team."

Should West Ham win, and if Nottingham Forest lose away to Manchester City, Nuno and co will head into the FA Cup weekend outside of the relegation zone.

Marco Silva is sweating on Harry Wilson's fitness, meanwhile. Fulham's star man suffered a twisted ankle during their 2-1 victory over another relegation-threatened outfit in Tottenham Hotspur.

Match Preview: Fulham v West Ham
In his Fulham preview, Dan Coker looks back at a defender who wore the colours of both clubs, as well as featuring our first ever win at Craven Cottage...

Blast from the past
8th April 1899 – Queen Victoria was on the throne and Lord Salisbury was Prime Minister as Thames Ironworks secured a 1-0 Southern League Second Division victory over Fulham in front of 3,000 at Craven Cottage.

The only goal of the game was scored by inside-right David Lloyd. Born in Hackney in June 1872, Lloyd was a career soldier and member of the British Army; he played football for the Third Grenadier Guards. He played for Brentford in 1897/98 before Francis Payne persuaded him to move to Thames Ironworks for this 1898/99 season.

Making his debut in a 3-1 home win over Brentford at the Memorial Grounds on 24th September 1898 and initially playing at left-back, Lloyd was switched to the forward line and scored a hat-trick in a 4-1 win at St Albans on 12th November 1898. He went on to score 14 goals in 16 games for Thames Ironworks, including another hat-trick in a 10-0 home thrashing of Maidenhead the week after this win at Fulham. Lloyd (pictured below) was on target in his final game for the Irons, a 1-1 draw with Sheppey United in a Test Match on 29th April 1899.

Standing at 6'4 and brilliant in the air, Lloyd scored a lot of his goals with his head. He moved to Fulham in 1899 and notched 24 goals in 43 matches in all competitions over the next two seasons. Lloyd left Fulham to take part in the Boer War, seeing active service in South Africa. He returned to Craven Cottage at the end of the conflict and, in November 1902, was suspended for 28 days after punching opponent Jimmy Murray during an FA Cup game against Watford. Lloyd joined amateur club Willesden Town in August 1904 – his date of death is unknown.

The Irons went on to finish the 1898/99 Southern League Second Division season in first place and won promotion to the First Division of the Southern League, while Fulham ended up tenth in the 12-team league. Aston Villa won the Football League title and Sheffield United won the FA Cup.

Thames Ironworks: Tommy Moore, Walter Tranter, Tommy Dunn, Simon Chisholm, Peter McManus, Roddy McEachrane, Henry Hird, David Lloyd, R Henderson, George Gresham, Patrick Leonard.

Club Connections
Alphonse Areola and Adama Traore travel to their former club, while Issa Diop welcomes the team he departed in the summer of 2022. A decent number of players join the trio in representing West Ham United and Fulham over the years. These include:

Goalkeepers: Bill Biggar, Jan Lastuvka, Tony Parks.

Defenders: Paul Kelly, Bobby Moore, Tony Gale, George Redwood, Ryan Fredericks, George Horler, Jack Hebden, Rufus Brevett, John Paintsil, Paul Konchesky, Ian Pearce, Wayne Bridge, Jon Harley, Alan Stephenson, Andy Melville.

Midfielders: Luis Boa Morte, Dick Richards, George Carter, Papa Bouba Diop, Ray Houghton, Fergus Hunt.

Strikers: Brian Dear, Alf Harwood, Johnny 'Budgie' Byrne, Jack Fletcher, David Lloyd, Roger Cross, Bill Davidson, Iain Dowie, Fred Harrison, Billy Brown, Archie Macaulay, Danny Shea, Kenny McKay, Leroy Rosenior, Bobby Zamora, Mladen Petric.

Scott Parker played for both clubs and managed Fulham.

This week's focus though is on a player who came through the youth system with West Ham before playing for Fulham. Kevin Lock was born in Plaistow on 27th December 1953 and grew up as a West Ham supporter – in his own words, "As a kid, on matchdays, I'd queue on the Green Street forecourt from eleven o'clock and sprint through the turnstiles to get stood next to the tunnel watching the players running out". Lock started training with West Ham at the age of 13 and made his debut under Ron Greenwood at the age of 18 on 29th February 1972 as a substitute in a 3-0 defeat at Sheffield United. At the end of that season, the schoolboy prodigy had made three first team appearances.

A tall, lean central defender, Lock made 19 appearances in a sixth-placed finish in 1972/73 and the 19-year-old scored his first goal for the club in the 88th minute of a 2-0 win over Everton at Upton Park on 31st March 1973. He won four Under-23 caps with England between 1973 and 1976 but a serious groin injury restricted Lock to 14 appearances in 1973/74 as the Hammers avoided relegation by a single point – he didn't play after 29th October that season and was ruled out for ten months.

Given the unenviable task of filling Bobby Moore's number six shirt after the West Ham and England legend had moved to Fulham during the previous season, the 1974/75 campaign was arguably Lock's finest in a claret and blue shirt – he made 53 appearances and, aged just 21, made a major contribution to John Lyall's side which won the FA Cup in 1975, playing every minute of the club's cup run. Lock missed the birth of his eldest daughter, Carly, to play in the fifth round home win over QPR and, of course, faced Moore in the Final at Wembley.

The fair-haired Lock, who was maturing into a first-class defender, made 39 appearances in 1975/76. He was named in Don Revie's senior England squad for a European Championships qualifier against Portugal on 19th November 1975, but remained an unused substitute during the 1-1 draw in Lisbon. He did not play in either leg of the semi-final success over Eintracht Frankfurt in the European Cup Winners' Cup and also missed the defeat to Anderlecht in the Final. The Irons finished 18th in the league in 1975/76 and Lock made 30 appearances in 1976/77 as the Hammers ended up 17th.

Lock's last goal for the Irons came in his final appearance at Upton Park, in a 2-2 First Division draw with QPR on 10th September 1977 – Lock had scored an own goal to put the visitors 2-1 up after only 12 minutes but atoned with the 78th-minute equaliser. Lock's last appearance for the club came the following week in a 3-2 defeat at Bristol City on 17th September 1977. Lock had scored two goals in 165 appearances for West Ham but fell out of favour – after the Hammers were relegated in May 1978, Lock was allowed to leave for Second Division Fulham in a £60,000 move.

Aged 24, Lock made his Fulham debut under Bobby Campbell in a 3-1 loss at Bristol Rovers on 19th August 1978. Playing at centre-back or left-back, Lock went on to make 236 appearances for the Cottagers, scoring 29 goals, mostly from free-kicks or penalties. Fulham were relegated to the Third Division in 1979/80 but won promotion back to the second tier under Malcolm Macdonald in 1981/82.

Lock's place in Fulham folklore was secured with his penalties against Liverpool in the League Cup in the autumn of 1983 (they eventually lost to the Reds after a second replay) and he has a very good claim to being the club's best ever spot-kick taker. Lock, who played alongside future Hammer Tony Gale at Fulham, even played in goal twice when first Peter Mellor and then Gerry Peyton had gone off injured.

Following some initial interest from QPR, the 31-year-old Lock teamed up again with Moore in the summer of 1985 when he joined Fourth Division Southend. David Webb took over from Moore at Roots Hall and Lock joined the coaching staff when he retired from playing in 1986. He followed Webb to Chelsea as first team coach in 1993 and then to Brentford later that year.

Lock was caretaker manager at Brentford early in the 1997/98 season and moved to the role of Football Coordinator before leaving Griffin Park in May 1998. It was his final job in football and he entered the pub trade. Now 72, Lock has no immediate plans to retire from his present job as a court usher. He is a regular at London Stadium and, in his own words, says:

"It's mad that I've gone full-circle back to where it all started! West Ham United will always be my team and it's great that I can now share that passion with my grandson, Jack, who's equally bonkers about the club. We've been going to games from the moment he could sing 'Bubbles'. It doesn't get any better than playing for the team you've supported since you were eight and winning the trophy at Wembley. But these days, I'm living my love of West Ham United alongside Jack and I'd give anything to get the chance to experience victory as a fan outside that player's bubble. Just one more FA Cup Final, that's all..!"

Referee
Wednesday's referee will be Greater Manchester-based Matt Donohue, who will take on his first ever Hammers appointment. His other Premier League games this season have been Brentford's 2-0 victory at Wolves in December and the Bees' 3-0 home win over Sunderland in January.

Donohue has refereed 22 games this season – 18 in the Championship, two in the Premier League and one each in the FA Cup and League Cup. He has issued 85 yellow cards and one red in those 22 matches, and awarded four penalties.

The VAR Official is John Brooks.

Possible line-ups
Fulham will be without Kevin, but Joachim Andersen and Sasa Lukic should both be available. Harry Wilson is a doubt. Fulham have won seven of their last ten home evening kick-offs (7pm or later) in the Premier League (drawing one and losing two), beating Nottingham Forest 1-0 and Chelsea 2-1 in their last two.

West Ham United will be without the injured Lukasz Fabianski and Pablo, while Freddie Potts is suspended. West Ham's Nuno Espirito Santo won four of his first five Premier League games against Fulham (drawing the other), but he has lost his last three against the Cottagers (two with Nottingham Forest and one with West Ham). The Hammers have only won two of their last 19 Premier League away games played on a Wednesday (drawing four and losing 13), with this their first since a 3-0 defeat at Manchester City in May 2023.

Possible Fulham XI: Leno; Tete, Diop, Bassey, Robinson; Berge, Cairney; Bobb, Smith Rowe, Iwobi; Muniz.

Possible West Ham United XI: Hermansen; Wan-Bissaka, Mavropanos, Disasi, Diouf; Soucek, Magassa; Bowen, Fernandes, Summerville; Castellanos.

Enjoy the game – Up The Hammers!

Fulham lead chase for massive striker signing – Release clause available
Last month, Sport Witness covered repeated claims about Fulham pursuing a move for Moise Kean in the winter transfer window.

The London club had expressed interest in January. There was also interest from Barcelona, Paris FC and AC Milan.

No firm offers were made, with the striker having turned things around for himself in 2026. This has also helped Fiorentina pick up some form in a bid to avoid relegation.

The former Everton player's situation is being spoken about again. It seems like Fulham are very much in the fray to bring him back to the Premier League.

Deal could be feasible for Fulham
Tuttomercatoweb report on the Italy international, stating that Milan have scouted him constantly in the last few weeks.

Rossoneri manager Max Allegri has been key in Kean's career during his time at Juve. He would be interested in a reunion but a deal appears quite difficult for the Serie A giants.

As of now, the player is very much focused on Fiorentina and isn't thinking about his future. But a deal could be much more feasible for Fulham, who are still interested.

This is because Kean has a release clause worth €62m in his La Viola contract. It will be applicable between 1st and 15th July, which will be during the World Cup period. The ex-Juventus player is likely to be in action at that point and attention on him can grow too.

That price tag is quite exorbitant for Milan and generally for Italian sides. Fiorentina are likely to point to the release clause, if suitors come forward, and this will only suit Fulham.

Kean could be a good option for Marco Silva
While Kean's first shot in the Premier League didn't go to plan, he has evolved as a player since then.

Physically, he has matured quite a bit and has become a real poacher in the final third. He does attract criticism for missing chances sometimes but he keeps making the right runs to receive those chances.

Kean struggled earlier this season but now has three goals in four Serie A games. Last season, he found the net 19 times in the league, leading to his recall to the Azzurri.

He is a player who knows his best role now and Fulham can benefit from that. The release clause is arguably still higher than it should be but at 26, Kean has a lot to offer.

Fulham & Mexico star Raul Jimenez ranks himself above Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Harry Kane in one key area
The debate over who is the greatest player of all time usually begins and ends with Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, but Fulham striker Raul Jimenez believes there is one specific department where he stands head and shoulders above the legendary duo. The Mexico international has established himself as one of the most reliable figures in world football from the penalty spot, and he isn't afraid to let the world know about his clinical edge when the pressure is at its highest, also ranking himself above Harry Kane.

Jimenez's penalty prowess
During a revealing interview with FOX Sports, viaMarca, the 34-year-old was asked to compare his prowess from the penalty spot against some of the game's most iconic finishers. When presented with a list that included the likes of Kane, Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez, Rogerio Ceni, and the titan pair of Messi and Ronaldo, the Fulham man did not hesitate. Jimenez backed himself to come out on top, citing a superior success rate across his decorated career in Mexico, Portugal, and England.

Better than the GOATs?
Jimenez was bullish when explaining his reasoning for putting himself at the top of the pile, stating: "Whether you like it or not, I have a better success rate than all of the ones you mentioned. I don't know if I'm the best in the world, but it's something that characterizes me. I'll stick with myself." It is a bold claim for any player to make, but the statistics suggest that the former Wolves man has plenty of evidence to support his confidence when standing over the ball.

Indeed, the numbers illustrate a stark difference in efficiency compared to the two players who dominated the Ballon d'Or for nearly two decades. While Messi bagged a brilliant brace for Inter Miami recently, his career penalty conversion rate sits at approximately 77.8 percent (112 out of 144). Meanwhile, Ronaldo has been diagnosed with a hamstring injury following a match where he uncharacteristically missed a spot-kick, leaving his career average at 83.5 percent (182 out of 218) - figures that pale in comparison to Jimenez's staggering 96 percent success rate.

A near-perfect career record
The Fulham front-man's record is almost flawless, having missed just twice from 46 attempts in competitive football. His first failure came in a 2018 friendly against Uruguay when Fernando Muslera produced a save, while his only other miss occurred during a high-stakes Europa League quarter-final against Sevilla in 2020. Since then, he has returned to his metronomic best, providing the Cottagers with a sense of inevitability whenever a referee points to the spot in the English top flight.

His reliability was on full display when the Mexican forward added to his perfect Premier League penalty record against Sunderland last month. Converting that latest effort took him to 13 successful strikes from 13 attempts in the top flight, carving out a unique piece of English history. Manchester City legend Yaya Toure previously held a flawless record of 11 from 11, but Jimenez's new leading mark could be extended way beyond that before he leaves the Premier League. Jimenez is now the gold standard for consistency from the spot, proving his self-belief is rooted in tangible results.

Fulham's reliable weapon
That supreme confidence from the spot is bleeding into Jimenez's overall form at Craven Cottage. He boasts nine goals across all competitions this season, helping drive Fulham's push towards the top half of the table. Fulham fans have come to view a penalty award as a guaranteed goal whenever their number nine is on the pitch.

Ultimately, Jimenez knows that comparing himself to multi-Ballon d'Or winners will raise eyebrows, but he remains unmoved by the scale of the task. Fulham will hope to see the Mexico international on the scoresheet again when they take on relegation-threatened West Ham at Craven Cottage on Wednesday night.

PREVIEW: Fulham host West Ham in the Premier League with European hopes and survival at stake
Fulham host West Ham on Wednesday evening with Marco Silva's side chasing European football, while Nuno Espírito Santo's men remain desperate to remain in the top flight.

An exciting clash awaits at Craven Cottage on Wednesday night, as Fulham and West Ham United meet at opposite ends of the table with everything to play for.

Fulham remain firmly in the hunt for European football after last weekend's impressive 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur. Goals from Harry Wilson and Alex Iwobi secured a third straight win for Marco Silva's side, who survived a brief scare after Richarlison's strike just after the hour mark.

That result continued an impressive run of form that began with cup success against Stoke and a dominant win over Sunderland. After a short spell of three consecutive defeats threatened to derail their season and ambitions, Silva's men appear to be peaking at the perfect time.

However, for West Ham, the picture is much more concerning. A crushing 5-2 defeat at Anfield last time out against Liverpool leaves them two points behind their relegation rivals, Nottingham Forest and just two points from safety.

However, the scoreline did not tell the full story. The Hammers matched Liverpool for possession and created promising openings in open play, but were ruthlessly punished on the counterattack. Three dead-ball goals ultimately proved too much to overcome.

Nuno Espírito Santo will hope his side shows a willingness to forget before their trip to Anfield. West Ham had lost just once in six matches, a run that included victory over Sunderland and a dramatic stoppage-time winner against Tottenham.

There are signs of progress, but relegation battles are not won on progress, and the reverse fixture in December was set for a stalemate until a late defensive lapse from youngster Ollie Scarles allowed Raúl Jiménez to snatch the points for Fulham.

Both teams have evolved since then, with personnel changes and the return of African internationals altering the dynamic.

West Ham remain without Pablo Felipe, who has begun individual training but is not yet ready to return, while Freddie Potts is serving a suspension.

Fulham, meanwhile, are sweating over the fitness of Harry Wilson after the Welshman twisted his ankle at the weekend.

Wilson's potential absence would be incredibly significant. He has been directly involved in 15 Premier League goals this season (nine goals, six assists), underlining his importance to Fulham's attacking fluency.

Silva admitted at full-time that his winger struggled through the final stages of the Tottenham win and will be assessed in the coming days.

With Fulham boasting one of the division's sharper attacking units and West Ham owning one of the league's leakiest defensive records, the availability of Wilson may prove decisive.

At stake are European qualification for one team, and top-flight survival for the other, making this London derby all the more important.

The derby kicks off on Wednesday at 19:30 (GMT), with live coverage on TNT Sports 5.

West Ham and Arsenal 'had a fight' over Alex Iwobi: Why Fulham star snubbed Hammers
If things had worked out differently, Alex Iwobi might have been wearing a West Ham United shirt in Wednesday's Craven Cottage kick-off, rather than the white of Fulham.

A graduate of the Arsenal academy, having grown up in Newham only a few miles from the Emirates Stadium, the Hammers came calling for a teenage Iwobi around a decade ago.

Now, as his Fulham side host a West Ham United outfit desperate for a win that could see them leapfrog Nottingham Forest into 17th, the Nigeria international has the chance to frustrate the East Londoners once again.

While Fulham could be without Harry Wilson for the visit of Nuno Espirito Santo's side, Iwobi heads into tonight's 7.30pm kick-off in fine form.

Form he will be determined to maintain against a side he trained with as a youngster.

Alex Iwobi rejected West Ham United because he supported Arsenal
Speaking to the official Match of the Day magazine back in 2016, while he was establishing himself as a regular at Arsenal, Iwobi admitted that he and now-Ipswich Town forward Chuba Akpom were targeted by the Hammers in their academy days.

"Arsenal and West Ham were interested in me and Chuba," Iwobi said. "We were training with both clubs for three years because we were scouted at six, and you can't sign until you're nine.

"I decided to sign for Arsenal because I supported them back then and I always saw them as the bigger club.

"No disrespect to West Ham!"

"I signed [for Arsenal] with Alex Iwobi at the same time," Akpom would later reveal in an Instagram live with Don Dada. "We were just training through the ranks.

"We were on trial at West Ham. Arsenal and West Ham had a bit of a fight because of that, because they were trying to say 'why are you taking my player'? Because of that, we stayed at Arsenal!"

While Akpom has never really hit the heights consistently – despite a Golden Boot winning campaign with Middlesbrough in the division below – this will be Iwobi's 314th Premier League appearance should he feature tonight.

Iwobi faces West Ham after inspiring Fulham win over Tottenham
Have you ever seen a goal like it, in appearance number 313?

A fizzing shot rocketed past Guglielmo Vicario with his instep? Didier Drogba did something similar in his Chelsea heyday. There were shades of Loic Remy's outrageous strike against Wigan Athletic in a Queens Park Rangers shirt.

Iwobi's stunning hit shoved Tottenham onto the brink of the abyss on Sunday; the second in a 2-1 Fulham win. Repeat the trick tonight, against another relegation-threatened London rival, and West Ham will find themselves circling the drain; a player who turned them down as a teenager removing the plug from the bath.

The former Everton winger netted twice in a 3-2 defeat by West Ham last season. A similar scoreline would do Nuno and co the world of good here, following a Liverpool loss which dented their momentum.

Fulham boss Marco Silva expects a 'completely different' challenge against a side his team beat 1-0 at the London Stadium a few days after Christmas. Just two-and-a-half months later, only four of the players who started that day for Nuno are likely to be in the XI here.

Wherever Iwobi pops up – he has played on the left, the right and in the centre this term – keeping him quiet, and denying him the chance to set his sights from range, will be something Nuno will be keen to imprint onto his players pre-match.

West Ham simply need to get back to winning ways in the Premier League when they take on Fulham on Wednesday.

West Ham are close to a scoring rampage; stats prove why
The Hammers have picked up some nice victories in the past couple of weeks, with away wins over Burnley and Tottenham, and other impressive displays.

But, though some results have been disappointing on paper, the underlying data suggests that West Ham are close to hammering a side, and it could be Fulham.

Games     5
Goals     8
xG     8.06
West Ham's last five Premier League matches

The Irons have been consistently creating goal-scoring chances as well as converting in front of the goal, and all it may take is one game for everything to come together.

Taty Castellanos is now firing, as Nuno has other players who can also add goals from different areas. If Wilson misses this clash, the Hammers could flatten Fulham.

Seems odd seeing as Fulham's stats for the same period read:
Games 5
Goals 8
XG 9.49

I guess they're clinging to any hope they have and I'm sure they'll come out all guns blazing. Just hope they're useless like they have been all season!

Tottenham take action after Arsenal and Fulham fury and Igor Tudor comments
Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly written to PGMOL chief Howard Webb outlining concerns over inconsistent refereeing decisions

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly contacted Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) chief Howard Webb regarding their grievances with recent officiating decisions. Spurs are understood to have been left frustrated by decisions, with BBC Sport reporting that the complaint from the north London outfit centres on inconsistent rulings that have resulted in goals being permitted or ruled out due to contact within the penalty box.

The club are believed to feel they have been disadvantaged by several crucial decisions this campaign, with the most recent occurring on Sunday during their 2-1 loss to Fulham. Raul Jimenez avoided being penalised for his involvement in the opening goal when he made contact with defender Radu Dragusin before the ball dropped to Harry Wilson, who broke the deadlock. Officials determined that the contact from the Mexican did not reach the threshold for a foul.

This follows Randal Kolo Muani's strike against Arsenal being disallowed during the defeat to their north London adversaries. Match officials ruled that Arsenal defender Gabriel had been pushed by the Frenchman before firing beyond David Raya.

A comparable incident took place earlier in the campaign during Liverpool's victory at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium when Hugo Ekitike rose above Cristian Romero to head home, which proved pivotal as then-manager Thomas Frank witnessed his team narrowly beaten by the Reds. The video assistant referee (VAR) did not overturn either decision, whilst they were reviewed, but both rulings stayed with the on-field official.

Interim boss Igor Tudor was left furious by the decision to allow Fulham's opening goal to stand. He said: "Their first goal changes the situation on the pitch. It's a big refereeing mistake.

"There's no consistency last week, what happened today was incredible. The referee was incredible today – not giving a goal there is madness. It's about consistency of the decision, they need to understand even if it is a soft touch but he is not watching the ball, it is a foul. He [Jimenez] gained an advantage and they scored. You need to give these fouls.

"I didn't like the referee today, too much of a home team referee. I didn't feel well with him. All the decisions were on their side.

"He doesn't understand football, the feeling of what is wrong and what is right. He [Jimenez] was not thinking about the ball, he was thinking how to cheat, he cheated the player, was pushing, it was cheating and it's a foul. Ninety-nine of 100 people will say it's a foul, it's so obvious."

Spurs find themselves in a perilous position in the Premier League standings as they confront the prospect of relegation, merely 12 months after lifting the Europa League trophy. They are only four points above the bottom three with West Ham United presently occupying the final drop zone spot.

Nuno Espirito Santo's team will be aiming to bounce back to victory after Liverpool halted their four-match unbeaten streak in all competitions, in their previous fixture. Spurs are set to host Crystal Palace on Thursday in a high-stakes London derby that holds significant implications for both clubs.

Wrexham plotting jaw-dropping moves for Liverpool, Fulham favourites in major statement of intent
Wrexham are preparing a daring raid on the Premier League's out-of-contract market should they clinch promotion from the Championship this season, with Fulham star Harry Wilson just one of their ambitious targets, while a hugely experienced Liverpool star is also on their radar.

The Welsh club currently sit seventh in the Championship table, on track for qualification for the play-offs against all the odds.

Having already risen from non-league to the second tier in record time, the Hollywood-owned side are now eyeing experienced Premier League campaigners to ease their transition should they reach the promised land.

Particular attention is being paid to players whose contracts expire this summer.

As we first revealed on February 20, Fulham winger Wilson has been identified as a dream target, and he could be tempted by an emotional move to his hometown club.

We understand that Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson, who is also out of contract at the season's end, is also being eyed as a potential signing.

Wrexham are understood to be ready to offer lucrative wages well above Championship and lower Premier League levels to tempt the pair to the Racecourse Ground.

Wrexham preparing for an ambitious summer
With financial fair-play constraints and more modest resources than established top-flight clubs, Wrexham know they cannot compete in the traditional transfer market for proven superstars.

Instead, the club intend to exploit the free-agent pool aggressively, targeting seasoned professionals who can bring immediate quality and Premier League know-how without the burden of hefty transfer fees.

Club insiders describe the approach as typically bold and told TEAMtalk: "We're not afraid to think big," one source close to the hierarchy said. "If we go up, we want to give ourselves the best possible chance of staying there and establishing ourselves."

The chances of landing household names such as Robertson and Wilson remain slim. Both players are likely to attract interest from several Premier League sides and European playing clubs.

However, Wrexham's willingness to make ambitious, headline-grabbing moves has become a hallmark of their meteoric rise under co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

Should promotion be secured via the play-offs or automatic spots, expect the club to move swiftly once the season concludes.

A summer of smart, high-impact signings on free transfers and smart moves in the market could prove the difference between survival and another swift return to the Championship.

Late all team new Fulham v West Ham
West Ham tonight head to Craven Cottage knowing a win would be huge in our battle to remain in the Premier League this season.

Our Hammers take on Fulham, who are outsiders to qualify for European football, so the task at hand is not a simple one but its one Nuno and the players cannot afford to let slip by with games now running out.

It is also noted, that should West Ham gain victory tonight, it would take Nuno's side out of the bottom three – should Nottingham Forest lose away to Manchester City.

It is a welcome boost for the Irons boss that Pablo is recovering from injury and is close to full training, however this game comes too soon for the January signing.

Freddie Potts serves the final game of his 3-match suspension, following his red card in our FA Cup win over Burton Albion.

Nuno does have decisions to make following our 5-2 loss to Liverpool at the weekend, however its likely that much will remain unchanged, with it hoped the side can build upon the positive display at Anfield.

It is likely to be a late call from the boss whether he opts to make changes to the side.

Tonights match kicks off at 7:30pm and is being shown live on TNT Sports 5.
