Quote from: Fulham 1879 on March 16, 2026, 12:40:43 AMIt's time to face reality: Berge kills the midfield. Passes sideways, avoids the ball half the match by adopting a position where no one can pass to him, has little creativity and vision, doesn't tackle much, is slow and offers nothing offensively. He's killing us. The last few games we've lost the midfield and have been trapped in our own third playing mostly long balls because there aren't any other options. Jimenez rarely sees the ball and I felt sorry for King and Bobb today as they were largely spectators.

He has the most field player minutes on the team, 70 games now at the defensive midfield position that protects the backline (and had to drop even into the backline on occasion today).

So how does he "kills the midfield" when we were playing up to supporters' expectations earlier in the season that took us to higher in the table?

Exactly this. It's the same knee jerk rubbish when we get unfavourable results, people need to find someone to blame. Conditions were attrocious, Forest were well up for it, thought we did ok without doing much really well.

I am fairly confident that we will absolutely spank Burnley at home in this incoming game, make up for what we haven't scored in the past few games and relegate poor old Scotty Boy

I hope the punters have plenty of caffeine in their bodies in preparation for watching this game!

That'll keep the hammy end bogs ticking over nicely!  :slap:

And Leeds played half the match with 10 men. There have been a LOT of bad matches in the PL recently. It's not just us.

PL Football has become really quite boring of late. Overly structured, major fear of losing, far too many touches between centre backs, and the good players seem fatigued. It's making a good case for a winter break to be honest, especially with a WC summer and most of England's players are off-form at the moment.

I tend to  agree with this perspective and am certainly not suggesting we have a monopoly on boring football in the Prem. And even fairly recently, first half against Spuds, we showed we can be exciting and entertaining.
On another thread I read people questioning why we would want to qualify for a run in a "tinpot" European tournament. For me one answer is that it can provide some of that entertainment many of us crave.

I know everyone's saying this has 0-0 written all over it, but Burnley have conceded 58 goals this season, the most in the Premier League.

Amazing really when you consider how Parker sets up his teams and coming after their record season in the Championship when they conceded the least  amount of goals ever. Just shows you can't play that way in the Prem and be successful - or at least not with the players they have.

I know we're a bit toothless up front at times, but this is really one we should be winning, and winning well...
