Games for the Weekend 20/06

Well footie is finally back, at least games “behind closed doors”, and we kick-off the Championship’s return with a game against Brentford.

Fulham v Brentford

As we’re effectively starting the season again, previous matches and form probably won’t mean a great deal, never the less here’s what I thought about our “last” game…

In other circumstances an away draw at Bristol would have been a good result, especially after going a goal behind, but if we’re aiming for automatic promotion it must be seen as 2 points dropped? Having said that we played well and it looks as if Captain Cairney is back to his best, Tom had his best game in an age, lets hope he continues.

Brentford are scoring goals for fun, 5-0 against Wednesday, they also beat Hull 1-5 earlier in February, our defence will have to be on top of their game for this one.

Brentford are another team who like playing us, they’ve won 5, drawn 3 and only lost 2 against us in recent games. They are currently on 60 points, 4 behind us, so with a win we could stretch that gap to 7 and move ourselves closer to West Brom and Leeds.

Games for the weekend 07/03

This weekend we travel down to Ashton Gate to take on Bristol City for the early kick-off of 12:30.

Bristol City v Fulham

Our win last week end puts us 9 points clear of 7th place, which funnily enough is Bristol City, so at this point in the season we look OK for at least a top six place. Forest, who drew their Monday evening game against Middlesbrough with a last-gasp equaliser, play on Friday evening against Millwall, a win by 2 clear goals would see them leap-frog us into 3rd, at least until after our game, a win or a draw would keep us ahead of them.

AK47 and Cyrus Christie were both impressive coming on as substitutes, Cyrus will almost certainly start and AK surely must be close to starting a game?

Bristol City are a bit of a bogey team, we’ve had only 2 wins, with 5 losses and 1 draw.

Games for the weekend 29/02

This weekend we welcome Preston North End to the Cottage for a 3 o’clock kick-off.

Fulham v Preston North End

So after a “last-minute” winner against Swansea we’re back to winning ways at the Cottage, where would we be without Mitro?

Preston NE suffered a 2-0 loss at West Brom, no shame there, and are currently on a bit of a roll, sitting currently in 6th, if they were to win they’d still be a point behind us.

Our record against Preston is very good, 4 wins, 1 loss and 2 draws, should we win, and in the unlikely event Hull were to beat Leeds, we’d be 2 points behind 2nd place.

Games for mid-week 26/02

Yet another mid-week game, this time we welcome Swansea City to the Cottage.

Fulham v Swansea City

Well a draw away to Derby wasn’t a bad result but with the gap back to 5 points we needed more.
Swansea had a comfortable(?) 3-1 win against Huddersfield and are pressing for the play-offs and with our inconsistent form they’ll be looking forward this game.

Recent results against Swansea include 3 wins, 5 losses and 1 draw.

Games for the Weekend 21/02

For this game we travel up to Derby County for a Friday evening game.

Derby v Fulham

Well, the game against Barnsley is one to forget.
At the weekend Derby had a 1-1 draw with Huddersfield, so they had a better day than us.

Historically we’re very even against Derby, 4 wins, 5 losses and 5 draws and surely we can’t play as badly two game in a row?

Games for the Weekend 15/02

This Saturday we invite Barnsley to the Cottage

Fulham v Barnsley

Well the mid-week game didn’t go quite as planned, at least we didn’t loose and Mitro scored his 21st, so not all bad?

I worry that not taking the chance to gain the automatic promotion place will come back to haunt us, it’s so close at the top of the league and it would have been boost for us and a dent to Leeds’ confidence slipping out of the top two, still there’s always the next game!

“in theory” we should be comfortable this game however, thats what I thought the first game of the season when Barnsley scored their only win over us, we’ve won the 4 other games against them.
