Games for the week-end 18/07

For our last home “league” game of the season we welcome Sheffield Wednesday to the Cottage.

Fulham v Sheffield Wednesday

With only a draw against West Brom we’re now subject to the lottery that is the play-offs. It’s odd, getting to the play-offs should be seen as a successful season, but for some reason it doesn’t feel as it is?

Our last two “league” games are going to be non-events as effectively we’ve attained our final position. Forest, on 70, can’t catch us and we’d need either West Brom or Brentford to loose both their remaining games for us to reach 3rd and I can’t see either of them doing that.

Strangely we’re the only team in the top 10 who have “nothing” to play for, so in essence we’ve two competitive “practice” games for the play-offs, continuing our unbeaten run would be good for the fans confidence, I’m not sure if a defeat would make too much difference to the players? as I expect that they “know” they can win every game, it’s us fans who’ll suffer from the jitters.

Hopefully AK47 and Tom will be fit enough, giving AK47 two full games would go a long way? to brining him up to match fitness, if he’s available he’d be my first name on the team sheet.

I’ll be keeping an eye on Forest, Cardiff, Millwall and Swansea as we’ll have to play one of them, hopefully two of them as that would mean we’d get to the final. A win or a draw for Forest should confirm their top 6 spot but I can see Millwall sneaking past Cardiff.

Our recent games against Wednesday see them come out slightly on top with 5 wins, 4 losses and 3 draws.

Games for the weekend 07/03

This weekend we travel down to Ashton Gate to take on Bristol City for the early kick-off of 12:30.

Bristol City v Fulham

Our win last week end puts us 9 points clear of 7th place, which funnily enough is Bristol City, so at this point in the season we look OK for at least a top six place. Forest, who drew their Monday evening game against Middlesbrough with a last-gasp equaliser, play on Friday evening against Millwall, a win by 2 clear goals would see them leap-frog us into 3rd, at least until after our game, a win or a draw would keep us ahead of them.

AK47 and Cyrus Christie were both impressive coming on as substitutes, Cyrus will almost certainly start and AK surely must be close to starting a game?

Bristol City are a bit of a bogey team, we’ve had only 2 wins, with 5 losses and 1 draw.

Games for the Weekend 08/02

We’re on our travels again, this weekend were off to Blackburn Rovers.

Blackburn Rovers v Fulham

Well we hung-on after a fantastic start on Saturday, those first 30-35 minutes were some of the best I’ve seen at the Cottage this season, the second half we managed to hang-on, at some points in this season we wouldn’t have.
Really good news that both Mitro and AK47 were back for the game and with Bobby Decordova-Reid scoring one of the best goals I’ve seen for some time, things look better on the attacking front.
As for defence the addition of Michael Hector has made a “chalk and cheese” difference to the back four, if only he could have started at the beginning of the season.

Blackburn are on a bit of a run themselves, they drew with Middlesborough at the weekend, beat QPR at home, beat Wednesday 0-5 away and drew with Preston NE.
Our results against Rovers is quite even with 5 wins, 8 loses and 6 draws so if history is anything to go by it’ll be a close game.

Games for the Weekend 11/01

Back to the league this weekend with an away trip to Hull City

Hull City v Fulham

So after an enjoyable cup game we’re back to the Championship and an away trip to Hull, Jimmy Bullard thinks they are a bigger club than Fulham, not that I’m still bitter.
Hull also had a win, they beat Rotherham 2-3.

Mitro will defiantly start after his weekend off, I think that Arter’s substitute appearance and wonder-goal will get him a start, I also think we’ll see AK at some point. I’ve an idea that we’ll see Hector get his first “league” start, it will be interesting to see if Mawson or Ream makes way.

We’ve not had much success against Hull with 7 losses, including a 6-0 thumping and also 0-3 last time at our place!, 3 wins and 2 draws, time to start changing those stats in our favour.

Games for Mid-week 10/12

Yet another evening game, this time we travel to Deepdale to play Preston North End for a 19:45 kick-off.

Preston North End v Fulham

So our winning streak came to end with a home defeat, it had to end some time and in truth we didn’t play well enough, even with poor refereeing decisions, against Bristol City.
Neeskens Kebano, when he came on, showed some nice touches and AK47 changed the game, why didn’t he start? Away to Preston we’ll need to play a lot better and have a better game plan or we’ll get nothing out of the game.
Preston also lost at the weekend, they were away to QPR, so they’ll be looking to get a result against another “London” team. They’ve had a pretty consistent season so far being around or above sixth place, we’ve averaged ninth.
However our record against Preston is a good one, we’ve won four and drawn two.

Games for the Weekend 29/11

Yet another non-Saturday 3 o’clock kick-off, this time Friday 19:45 see’s us travel to Wales and the Liberty Stadium in order to take on Swansea City.

Swansea City v Fulham

Tuesday evening saw us gain a comfortable win over Derby, always a good thing! Swansea had a tough draw away to Huddersfield so both teams will be approaching this fixture with an air of confidence.
A couple of downers were the injuries to AK47 and Bobby De Cordova-Reid, a shame for both AK would have been hoping to cement his place in the team and Bobby Reid getting his first goal.
Swansea have been something of a bogie team for Fulham with 5 wins, 1 draw and only 2 wins for us against them. Let’s see if we can get a 3rd win against them!

Games for Mid-Week 26/11

Tuesday evening at the Cottage, this time we take on Derby County.

Fulham v Derby County

After a shaky start Friday evening the lads eventually came good with AK47 getting a couple of well taken goals.
Scotty Parker will have to think hard and long about his inclusion in the starting eleven now that Mitro has served his one match ban.
If the two of them could form a partnership they would be truly frightening to any team.

Derby also had a home win, their fifth successive home win, against Preston North End on Saturday however they’ve not had too much success on the road.

Games for the Weekend 10/08

Our first home game of the season will be against Blackburn Rovers at 15:00 Saturday afternoon.

Fulham v Blackburn

Last weekend’s opener against Burnley didn’t go the way we’d hoped but this time we’re back on home turf, let’s see if Craven Cottage will once again become our fortress?
We have signed Ben Ticker however at 18 he’s going to be one for the future, and Harry Arter, Scotties brother-in-law, on loan and there have been plenty of other rumours, Onomah as part of the ongoing Sess’ deal, Amartey from Leicester, Jacob Murphy from Newcastle etc. but so far nothing concrete, I’m guessing it’ll be another last minute rush.
Our front three of Mitro’, Knockaert and Cavaleiro should give most Championship teams pause for thought, especially if we can bring on AK47 for the last 10-20 minutes to run at tired defences, I hope we get to see evidence of how good they are starting this weekend.
Will we have strengthened the defence? we can only hope so otherwise it could be a very long season.

Back to the week-end, like us, Rovers also lost by a single goal against a newly promoted team, Charlton, and you just know that Tony Mowbray will have his team fired-up to play against us.
