Games for mid-week 23/10

Another home game under the lights, this time against Derby County

Fulham v Derby County

Gaining the win over Barnsley put us top of the league, I must admit to thinking it would only be for 24 hours or so as Bournemouth played on Sunday however, our next opponents had different ideas beating them 3-2, for once Derby did us a favour?
Once again we spread the goals amongst the team, Mitro, as Gentleman Jim said “to be fair he hasn’t scored for 20 minutes”, Carvalho, Kebano, most improved player?, and if only for Seri’s exceptional pass for Wilson’s goal, for me, was the pick of the bunch.
After 7 wins in a row there’s a lot of talk over on the forum about how this team compares to Jean Tigana’s 2000-01 promotion winning season, its very difficult to pick who’s better however after last season, the improvement in the current squad is quite remarkable.

After another lot of points deductions, I’m not sure how its taken so long for the EFL to arrive at their decision however, Derby will be full of confidence after their win against Bournemouth. As our recent record against Derby is another “close affair” with 4 wins, 5 losses and 6 draws, “historically” this should be a close game although our respective league positions suggest otherwise? but we all know that there are no easy games in the Championship!

my team would be…

Games for Mid-Week 26/11

Tuesday evening at the Cottage, this time we take on Derby County.

Fulham v Derby County

After a shaky start Friday evening the lads eventually came good with AK47 getting a couple of well taken goals.
Scotty Parker will have to think hard and long about his inclusion in the starting eleven now that Mitro has served his one match ban.
If the two of them could form a partnership they would be truly frightening to any team.

Derby also had a home win, their fifth successive home win, against Preston North End on Saturday however they’ve not had too much success on the road.

the Play-off’s

so after a record breaking unbeaten run we slip-up at Birmingham, unfortunate but what a run that was!

We now face Derby County to see who progresses to the play-off final.

Should you need a reminder of our two league games against them they were…
(home) 1-1  November
(away) 1-2  March

…so we’ve a reasonable record against them for this season.

The first game will be away at Pride Park on Friday evening 11/05, kick-off 19:45

Derby County v Fulham

The return leg will be the following Monday evening 14/05, kick-off 19:45, at Craven Cottage

Fulham v Derby County

I’m sure that Joka’ and the lads are disappointed that we didn’t get automatic promotion but with the run of form we’re in we’ve no-one to fear.

Derby’s last five results…
14/04/18 – Burton 3-1 Derby
21/04/18 – Derby 1-2 Middlesborough
24/04/18 – Derby 3-1 Cardiff
28/04/18 – Aston Villa 1-1 Derby
06/05/18 – Derby 4-1 Barnsley

whatever the result(s) we’ve had a fantastic season and this calendar year the lads have done us proud week in-week out.

I’d love a trip to Wembley
