Games for the Weekend 07/02

This weekend we welcome Everton to the Cottage for a 3 o’clock Saturday kick off

Fulham v Everton

That last minute goal for United really took the wind out of our sails it what could have been a famous fight back.
Raúl now has the “perfect penalties” record, 12 out of 12, long may that run continue, hopefully Fulham will be awarded penalties on a more regular basis?
Kevin getting his first Premier League goal is massive too. Those are the ones that often unlock a player mentally—suddenly the pace feels manageable, the chances look clearer. If that gives him confidence to take shots a fraction earlier or make those late runs again, we’ll take it all day.

The Everton comparison is spot on. Same points, same goal difference, very similar vibes: organised, physical, not a lot given away. Historically they’ve had the edge on us, but recent years feel far more balanced—even when we lose, it’s rarely comfortable for them, especially at the Cottage. The “previous 8 games” 2 wins, 2 draws, 4 losses, shows how close Everton and Fulham are?

All in all, it doesn’t feel like there’s much between us and a solid mid-table season again. If Kevin kicks on, Raúl keeps doing Raúl things, and we turn these nearly moments into points… there’s plenty to be positive about.

I’m assuming that both Lukic and Muniz won’t be available and that our new signing Bobb will be on the bench so my team would be…

Games for the weekend 12/08

We get to kick-off the new season with an away trip to Goodison Park to take on Everton

Everton v Fulham

I’m writing this on Wednesday so “in theory” we could have some new team members, or lost some of the current squad?, however I’m going to assume that the squad is “as is” at least until after the weekend.
Callum Hudson-Odoi saga has been ongoing, “rumour” has it that we’re haggling with Chelsea over the fee although “personal terms” have been agreed, it would be good to get him before Saturday.
Demarai Gray, is another that appears to be very close, I don’t believe that Everton would release him before we play them this weekend, so perhaps he could sign next week?
Fred is another one that has re-emerged, apparently we were put off by the initial asking price, I’m not sure what’s changed but the rumours about him joining Fulham have remerged.

As for players leaving, Tosin “wants” to go to Monaco, not Spurs, I’d imagine that we’d get a better price from Spurs?
West Ham, Liverpool, Uncle Tom Cobley and all have been quoted as being interested in Palhinha, West Ham got really upset with our valuation (£90 million) and effectively wanted to swap him for some of last seasons unwanted track suits. Surprisingly Liverpool didn’t sound too put off by the price but his shoulder injury in the Stateside friendly games looks as if any interested has stopped for now?
Willian has also been offered the chance to play in Saudi, what puzzles me is why didn’t they “go for him” before he signed for Fulham?
Mitro, hmmm, Mitro, I find it hard to believe that Mitro said he’d never play for Fulham again, he has anyway even if it was a sub’ appearance in the pre-season friendly against Hoffenheim. I can believe he wants to earn £20 million a year, who wouldn’t? but would he really want to risk playing for his country and building on the number of goals he’s scored?
With both the Willian, Mitro & Palhinha offers it makes a very refreshing change for the club to “stand their ground” and not appear to give in straight away, we may well still loose one or more of these players before the transfer window closes but for now their still our players.

Our two new boys, Raúl and Calvin Bassey, both scored in the Hoffenheim game, I wonder if two new signings have scored for Fulham on their debuts?

Everton struggled for most of last season, appointing Sean Dyche will have his work cut out if they don’t want to battle against relegation for a third season in a row?
They’ve also, at tie of writing, only signed two players, Arnaut Danjuma, a forward signed on loan from Villarreal and Ashley Young on a free transfer from Villa.

Our record against Everton isn’t that good, especially at Goodison, we’ve 5 wins, 11 losses and 3 draws, having said that we’ve won the last 2 at their place.

I don’t think that Palhinha, Pereira or Ream will be fit enough to be starters, therefor my team for the season opener (assuming no new players or further departures) would be…

Games for the Week-end 29/10

We welcome Everton to the Cottage for a late(ish) Saturday kick-off (17:30)

Fulham v Everton

Any away win is a good win, winning away at Leeds was both unexpected, I’d have been very happy with a draw, and shows how far we’ve come since our last time in the Premier League.
How we came back from being one goal down showed the exceptional team spirit we have, the team spirit really showed for our third, Willian’s goal, Mitro holding off a defender, back-healing the ball to Reed who danced around another defender before passing to an unmarked Willian, one of the best “team goals” I’ve seen from Fulham!

Our record against Everton isn’t that good, our record against them at Goodison is awful but not too bad at the Cottage, with 5 wins (all at the Cottage), 12 losses (mainly at Goodison) and 2 draws(at the Cottage).

Fulham: LLDWW
Everton: WLLLW

Games for the Weekend 12/04

This weekend its the blue half of Liverpool, Everton to come to the Cottage.

Fulham v Everton

So now that we’re relegated will Scott play some of the youngsters, will the loanees still get a game, if so why?
Fulham players, all of them, need to play with pride and now that we’ve “nothing to play for” perhaps they’ll be able to play with a level of freedom now that the pressures off?IF Scott really wants the managers job “full time” he may well continue with the loanees as he probably thinks that they’ll give him his best chance for his first win as a manager, if he looses all of his games in charge he’ll almost certainly have no chance of the job full time?

Whatever team we field Everton will be a tricky game, they’ve had some good results recently, historically we do quite well against them at home but I think our “attitude” will be the major factor for this game?
