That's handy, now only two relegation places remaining 😉
New target - 18th place

The appeal will go on and on, and even if they lose the appeal, you can almost guarantee that it will be a hefty fine and a loss of just enough points to keep them in Premier league.

I'm not sure about that. Anything other than a catastrophic points deduction would be met with outrage and potential lawsuits from the likes of Everton, Leicester, Forest etc.
Ha. Please, raise your hand if you think there will be real sanctions. The report says "Sanctions undecided". I'm certain it's undecided between a six-figure fine and a seven-figure fine. They will probably come out with a seven-figure fine because they want to look "really tough on crime". And Man City players won't have their individual manicurists available on team flights for the next two seasons - they will have to make do with the team manicurist. That's it. There won't be any other consequences.

Apparently any punishment can be applied during an appeal,
We should be on the phone today trying to organise a 12 month loan next season for Haaland and Semenyo 😁

THERE'S NO CHANCE that real sanctions will be imposed. They will do something that kinda looks real and maybe even sounds good, but NO CHANCE the EPL allows City to not be available to compete for Champions League titles. They need City a lot more than City needs to league.
it should not be a poits deduction for things like this it should be demotion to league two, or as I prefer to call it Division four!
Relegation to Div 2 nothing less.
If it happened to Rangers, it should apply to City.
That will hurt them badly, anything else would be a slap on the wrist.
No european football for at least 4 years even if they do win FA or League Cup in the process until back in the top flight.
Although I really think the Premier League would like to impose the minimum punishment possible, the problem they face is the threat of legal action from other PL clubs if the sanctions are not commensurate to the offences...and that must mean relegation as a starting pont.

Yeah, I actually do think that the punishment is going to be substantial considering past punishments given out to other clubs and how much worse the facts are here compared to those earlier cases.

Given we lose to City twice every year, surely we have a legal case for lost earnings through European football? If we added on a hypothetical six points to our tally for the last however many seasons, how many times would we have got Europe?

Exactly, the Prem has already recently deducted 6 points from Everton for two charges and 4 from Nottingham Forest for one charge. So any punishment would have to far exceed those otherwise the lawyers would have a field day given the precedents set.
I've a friend who knows someone on the Man City board.
Allegedly, this all ends in a 100pt deduction, massive financial fine, and transfer embargo for 5 seasons.
It's only what I've been told, but by the time it gets to the appeal stage, or even implemented, it won't for another few seasons yet.

We've been in the PL with City for 18 seasons, this is the 19th.
In the previous 18 seasons, we've won both league games v City in a season just once (2005/06); we've drawn one game and won one game twice; we've drawn both games twice; we've drawn one and lost one three times; and we've lost both games ten times, including in each of our last eight PL seasons.
The charges relate to 2009-2018 and for some of those seasons we were out of the PL and in one of the seasons we were relegated (2013/14) so extra points wouldn't have got us into Europe for those seasons.

Cheers. I actually asked AI on this, you're right it wouldn't have got us Europe. But perhaps more significantly, in 2013/14 we lost to City twice and an extra six points would have seen us avoid relegation. So perhaps even greater damages potential (through lost PL revenue).

This wouldn't work, I'm afraid. An extra 6 points for us would have taken us to 39 in 2013/14. Teams immediately above us were WBA, Hull, Villa and Sunderland. WBA lost twice to Man City so they would get an extra 6 points (taking them to 42). Hull lost twice to Man City so their extra 6 points would take them to 43. Villa won once and lost once to Man City so their extra 3 points would take them to 41. And Sunderland won once and drew once to Man City so their extra 2 points would take them to 40. Is that right though? Because we're talking hypothetically here. We're not saying that if City hadn't cheated then we'd have 100% stayed up, we're saying that there would have been a chance that we would have stayed up on the basis that City had an unfair advantage in their games against us. We could argue that there was a hypothetical scenario where City lost against us but still beat the other teams you mentioned.

It's actually very hard to find a punishment that fits the crime. During that period they won the league, FA cup, league cup etc. That got them into Europe. Teams were relegated due to their cheating. Teams were robbed of titles and cups due to their cheating. Teams were robbed of Europe due to their cheating. Based upon other team's punishments they should have the book thrown at them. A minimum of second division football and millions to be divided amongst teams (although there is an argument that most teams were indirectly affected).
The reality is that they will get away with it. A modest penalty deduction and a modest point deduction.
What really gets me is yeah they've now found them guilty but what about all the fruits of their misdemeanours that they've enjoyed whilst the suspect powers have dragged their heels in coming to a decision that was almost certainly apparent at the at the outset.
So the only team that has stood up to Arsenal's cheating via the refs is now gonna get banned!?
Can't wait for Bolton suing City as in the famous season of AGUERO against QPR, Bolton would overtake QPR without the City results and would have stayed up

I'm not so sure. If they don't throw the book at them there's a risk of multiple lawsuits against City for compensation from other clubs. Might still have some of course

It was the independent commission that found them guilty, not the football authorities and it will be the commission that sets the penalty.
I believe the appeal process (a fresh 3 person panel) has no time limit on it but the decision is final with no further appeals allowed.

There will be multiple law suits whichever way this goes. Teams failing to make Europe, teams being relegated, players losing bonuses, clubs losing sponsorship. This will not settle down even after the City appeals. The fact that City's announcement slated the independence of the arbitrators says it all. They will fight and hopefully they fail. They should be seriously demoted and be fined enough to allow for each team to be moved up one spot in the division's commercial payments.

Everton deducted another six points after Man City round guilty of 114 charges. Premier League officials said it was vital to respond swiftly to the findings and send a clear message that financial irregularities will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
A Premier League spokesperson explained, "Obviously, punishing Manchester City is going to be incredibly complicated.
"They have extremely expensive lawyers, there will inevitably be extensive appeals, those appeals could lead to further appeals, and realistically we could spend several years working out whether we're actually allowed to take any points off them.
"Fortunately, we already have an established precedent for taking points off Everton whenever we feel like it, so we've done that instead."

How many of those current city fans are real fans and not just the plastic glory hunters, who joined after the club became successful and by definition are not long-term fans and will just as easily desert to another team.

The football authorities (and government to an extent) have a huge job on their hands on not allowing this to spiral out of control and ruin the country's most treasured pastime and a huge asset for an otherwise beleaguered economy. Justice must be done and be seen to be done, but then everyone needs to move on and get on with the football. If it's allowed to sink into legal campaigns to award trophies to teams that came second etc and all manner of other things, we'll wake up and find the PL is on par with Serie A as another formerly leading European league.

115 charges was widely quoted - what was the one of which they are innocent?
So that means only 2 relagation spots?
The punishment should be something like they have to pay back 200 points. They continue to earn points for wins and draws but every point they earn goes to pay off that debt. Means two guaranteed demotions and maybe more if they play poorly.

It seems some are calling for City to be banished from the PL and placed three or four tiers below PL. The charges are that serious and plentiful. Possible nothing happens for several more years what with appeals and appeals and appeals. Will be interesting to see how all plays out, but I'm not holding my breath for anything to happen soon.......

That's way out of my area of expertise, it sounds reasonable but only a specialist lawyer would be able to give a meaningful answer.
What I do know is that I have absolutely no sympathy whatsoever and like most on here (Nick excepted), I want to see them properly punished in full.

Agree the punishment should be severe but have grave feelings that at the end of the day it will be a complete whitewash and cop out for legal reasons.
Hopefully City playing Woking soon
Ironic Glazers taking too much money out of Utd
City owners putting too much money in
The punishment has to be severe enough to act as a deterrent to all clubs.
Anything else renders the financial rules not worth the paper they're written on.
There will be widespread outrage and condemnation from a multitude of clubs with the serious threat of major legal action against City if these charges are not harshly dealt with.

I said at the time, and again when we were up for sale, if my club had been bought by such a institution, I would struggle to enjoy games of my club. I would probably put my 'support' on stand by.
With that in mind, i don't feel so sorry for those supporters of old man city. If anything its a blessing that they'll be able to support an honest club again.
It has to be a huge fine and a ban on signing players if you include relegation they have a big advantage next season as they have some very good players meaning that you are restricting the championship to one of their members getting automatic promotion. They then play in front of big gates as well as people in the championship will love to watch their club play against Man City.
I would not want the job of sorting it out
City have been found guilty of breaking the rules to get into the top team cartel.
Chelsea admitted guilt & got a slapped wrist whilst still engaging in creative accounting & extreme horse trading of players to still try to sit at the top table.
Newcastle & Villa have been thwarted in spending their owners money to compete on a regular basis at the top of the tree.
Original villains? The original 'big clubs' who formed the Premium League in 1992 & who want to retain the status quo for them to continue to fill their boots.
City must be severely punished, relegated like Glasgow Rangers but as we cannot turn the clock back to eradicate the Premier League, maybe now is the time for the self entitled elite to go play in their European Super League amongst themselves.
