Its his first game for us, looked very solid, got forward, never put a foot wrong. So yes in my eyes he was man of the match.

Agree with that. But I am even more happy about Hangeland looking his usual self. Didn't lose a header all day.

Missed a tackle by the half way line in the 1st half and was caught well out of position, my thread kept breaking up badly, but BZ looked ok, and Shorey. What a miss by the paddy.Just glad to get the points, but we made Pompey look good.

'll take missing a tackle at the half way line against any team from a CB any day. If that is all he did wrong, he must have had a fantastic day at work. Just shows how important our H&H partnership really is. Bye, bye Smalling. Don't mess with that again Roy, because it works and it is proven.
Have to say that Hughes return to the centre seemed to give everybody at the back confidence. Brede was much better but still short of his best and dare I say the Big Aussie looked on form (bar one kick) So MOM was Hughes. Just for being there.

Fair enough. It's not like anyone else looked THAT great anyway. We won! And we kept a clean sheet, when did we do that last?
I think Riise was the man of the match, for keeping the bench nice and warm for when the others came off. I believe he also made the tea
Zamora for me he battled hard and worked hard...I like the new boy Okaka...Shorey was excellent....

I would go with Duff today. Looked solid going both ways and really mixed them up. His late run defending at the death just finished it off for me. Real class and worked his axx off for 93 minutes. I also think Baird should get a mention too. How many men would take the switches he has and still put out such an effort. Not our best player but maybe our most tolerant one. Glad that Roy stuck with him.

Maybe it was that Kelly looked so bad Finn, I'll watch him more closely on the replay. You're usually spot on but on the first look I thought he was solid today. I'll get back to you, replay starts at 6:45 EST. At least I won't be so nervous this time knowing the outcome ;D
Shorey MoM Okaka looks promising. I thought things got better once Dickyboy came on. Kelly wasn't that bad and nobody near me was giving him any serious grief. Brede was dodgy got caught out too far up field several times and some of his passing was way off.
To be fair to Kelly he had more pressure than anyone else today, but I would have wanted him to show better for it than he did. I'm set to be a bit harder on him as we share the same name. Can't have him casting dispersions on the family now can I?
Duff was MOM to me, most consistent Greening better, actually went forward with the ball, BZ back to his useless ways, may be carrying an injury though, Kelly very poor, Shorey played well, Murphy looked tired even early on Okaka tried hard, missed a sitter but looks promising, Elm and Nev really brought the game to life, all in all a jammy win against a poor side, good job they were more inept at scoring than us, we really miss Pantsil and Konch!

Hangeland had a great game and showed some of last years form.
Duff instantly adds some credibility to our attacking options. When he gets the ball in the opposition half you know something good is going to happen-as shown again today. Potential player of the season.
Kelly was out of his depth. Didn't win any tackles, was bullied off the ball and was continuosly having to be bailed out. His crosses were terrible also. He has been given a very big pair of boots to fill but can't see him being here next season unless there is a huge improvement.

After not taking a single shot in either of the last two seasons, Hughes nearly scored today. That makes him my man of the decade, never mind my man of the match.
Glad to hear that Shorey looked good. Please be patient with Okaka, guys. Last season it was Bobby and Gera that were missing sitters. Let's not break the kid's spirit right away, okay?

He played another blinder, with his running and passing and tackling back he was a credit to the side, once again. Like Demps, he always gives 110%, and I have to say, notwithstanding the wonderful debuts by the newcomers, Duff still held the team together during the dark moments of the first 45.
Shorey oozed confidence and was quality, reminded me of him in the Reading days! World cup outsider?? Loving the option to buy as well
