Followed by Leeds then Aston Villa, two of our first three games ones where all parties will be setting out to prove themselves not amongst the rabble of relegation fodder. Should be interesting

If we need the points our run in isn't bad either

We need to get plenty of points on the board before December, the last 8 matches has 4 of the top 6 teams in the Prem. Arsenal, Man Utd, Chelsea and Tottenham.

There are no easy games, they will all be tough, I don't care who we play or when we play them, it makes no difference. Villa and Leeds will be no easier than Arsenal and they could turn out to be tougher.
It's all on the day and if we are good enough we will beat them and go up the ladder and stay up. If we aren't good enough then we will go down the snake and back to the championship, that is the reality.
First and foremost is to strengthen our defence before we kick a ball in anger, and bring another striker in to support Mitro, and tie down Harrison Reed.

Finding it difficult to get excited about this list as usually start planning and looking forward to going to the games.  Hopefully we can get to Spuds new ground at Christmas.

Looking at the autumn, after Goobers, we don't play traditional top 6 "big boys" so will need to get points on the board early: -
Saturday 19th September Leeds United (A)
Saturday 26th September Aston Villa (H)
Saturday 3rd October Wolverhampton Wanderers (A)
Saturday 17th October Sheffield United (A)
Saturday 24th October Crystal Palace (H)
Saturday 31st October West Bromwich Albion (H)
Saturday 7th November West Ham United (A)
Saturday 21st November Everton (H)
Saturday 28th November Leicester City (A)

Pressure on to get some early points on the board, lets hope we can get transfers sorted son with a view to having a settled team before too many matches are played. Leeds and Villa are virtual relegation six pointers, we want to be functioning well by that stage.

It is exciting but not being able to attend matches does take the shine off a bit.

Can you imagine what that opening game against Arsenal would be like withthe Fulham fans going crazy at our return to the Prem?  Opening games at home are always brilliant occasions.....

Remember an opening game against Arsenal where we set the record for fastest goal scored at Emirates David Healy 50 seconds we lost 2-1 Sanchez was manager back then

Maybe not but the anticipation, seeing the regulars again, seeing the team I love back in the Prem, it all makes for a fantastic day.  I wasn't really talking about the results; they tend to always let us down!

Yep I was there.  First time at the Emirates and thought (for a few minutes at least) we were going to do the unexpected.  We were prob top of the table for a while that day!

Looking at it and seeing our opening group of fixtures, our Christmas fixtures and our end of season fixtures and I'm feeling more optimistic. These are usually key areas and times to work on getting results and will be crucial for us and are all looking manageable against teams that are for the most part middle of the league or teams we should be looking to compete against.

There are several "must win" games in the first couple of fixtures. It's more important than ever that we are prepared for the start of the season. Where's that LCB??? Please lets not have the Chambers situation all over again!!!
Title: Re: Home to Arsenal
Post by: Woolly Mammoth on August 20, 2020, 11:13:52 AM
We can start by beating Arsenal, only a loser would think otherwise.
It's players with a strong mentality that will persevere and win these games. No room for faint hearts in this Fulham team, no room for deadwood or passengers either or big time Charlie's who think they are doing us a favour. We have to make ourselves hard to beat first and foremost. That's where the points will come to stay up, by nicking points off of the likes of Arsenal. Because if anyone thinks they can rely solely on maximum points from the likes of Villa, Leeds, Brighton and Albion better think again, because they will be fighting for their lives as well.
We need to pick up points early from whoever is in front of us and build up a momentum and keep it ticking over, because at sometime during the season we will have a rocky patch so we need to target every game as a must win starting with Arsenal.

Me too, mainly because we can actually defend under Parker. We will need to mix the game up a bit though against the better teams, play more on the counter.

Definitely had a sense of anticipation  leading up to that opening Palace game, and had to be there, even though I live miles from London and don't get to many home games now.

It was pretty even game, and we  should have got something out of it - a good pen shout  not given wasn't there?, and maybe a  keeper misjudgement  from a keeper making his  debut, but I thought it was a promising  start to the campaign, and i wouldn't have predicted  the  disaster that happened.
Even after the first three games -  a bit unlucky at Spurs, and  should have got all three points at Brighton rather than one and our defending did look dodgy.

But I certainly didn't regret going to that opening Palace game, and the atmosphere at the Cottage was brilliant, after all that had happened to us in recent times.

Hopefully, this season Scott and the players will have learned enough to stay up in the crucial first season. Be a lot harder to score against for a start.
COYW!!!!

And also one key point was that the crowds are very much reduced and it is considered that you can put in measures to attempt to keep people separated rather more easilly than if you expect tens of thousands into a small space.

Whether this actuaololy proves a good idea we will just have to wait and see.

Noticed Chelsea got Arsenal away on Boxing Day, last time we were at home they had Watford away. They get "local" away games on Boxing Day that you can travel to on the underground whereas we get flung all around the country (and over to Wales).

Couldn't ask for a better opening 9 games, even having one of the bigger boys in Arsenal for our opener is pretty good to get a taster of things, followed by 8 games where we could expect points and possibly quite a few wins.

We should be around 14th at the lowest after 9 games with that starting 9 games.

If we are in in the bottom 3 after those 9 games then I think it will be Bye Bye Mr Parker.
