This game today seems a little odd to me, we arrived yesterday afternoon giving us 24hrs to prepare and acclimatise whilst Forest have been out there a week,
I think our boys are going to struggle in that heat,
I wonder why we didn't go out on Wednesday, seems strange planning to me,
I know it's only a pre season game but the preparation for the lads doesn't appear to have been thought through.
What time BST is ko please?
Thank you
Pay 5.99 and you can watch it on Forest TV.
I searched FFCTV daily for news of whether or not they'd show the match or have an audio feed. No luck.
Last night I bought a Nottingham Forest TV pass at 7pm. Within an hour I got an email saying FFCTV would show all the friendlies!! However I just bought the annual pass this morning and realised it was advertised on the FFCTV site two days ago just well buried. so my own fault but at least I've got back up and everyone else has options!
Another negative article in today's i newspaper again claiming the club has no interest in our hardcore support, just the new Riverside.
This game can be purchased from the following:-
Forest tv £5:99
Fulham tv £6:99
Not sure if either will show highlights for free
For me.... I'm not paying for it... I'm watching the tennis county championship here in Eastbourne & might do a couple of hours work....
With a fair wind there might be some free highlights of the Forest game on the Forest web site tomorrow
Nottingham Forest vs Fulham: Pre-Season Friendly Preview, 2025
Nuno Espirito Santo and Marco Silva return to their homeland as their sides collide in a pre-season friendly with Premier League preparations beginning to ramp up.
Fulham have consistently been an achilles heel for Nottingham Forest since both clubs were promoted to the top flight in the 2021/22 campaign.
The Tricky Trees have picked up just one victory against Marco Silva's outfit in their three seasons in the Premier League.
Choosing to face Fulham for pre-season was perhaps a fitting decision from Nuno and Forest chiefs to extract more from the players and reject the sentiment that The Cottagers are a notorious stumbling block.
However, following two goalless encounters to kick off their pre-season period, the fixture against familiar Premier League opposition may generate even more of an incentive to produce a solid performance with the new campaign commencing in three weeks time.
Forest failed to score against League Two side Chesterfield and returned to the home of The Spireites to face Monaco, hoping to redeem themselves from a lacklustre performance, but the match resulted in the same outcome.
Fulham ended last term with their best Premier League points tally and finished in 11th place, adrift of European competition once more but admirably stable in the mid-table.
With a whole host of clubs inundated with transfer approaches and striking deals for fresh faces, Fulham have completely abstained and they remain the only Premier League side not to delve into the transfer market this summer.
Comfortable wins behind closed doors against Aberdeen and West Bromwich Albion gave Silva an opportunity to distribute minutes evenly among the squad and re-assure him of the quality his personnel possess.
Fulham's recruitment has been unique and has ultimately buoyed their project.
Whether they were snapping up players on the fringes of leading Premier League clubs or recognising experienced players still with something to offer, Fulham have reaped the rewards of their incomings in recent seasons.
Brighton, Manchester United and Chelsea are Fulham's opening games in August, and fans will finally see their side in action on Saturday.
They will be able to give their verdict as to if staying clear of acquisitions, at least early on in the window, is a choice the club may come to rue.
Team News
Nottingham Forest
Familiar starters were introduced in Forest's last pre-season test against Monaco when Chris Wood, Nikola Milenkovic and Morgan Gibbs-White were given the nod for some minutes.
The latter has been subject to ongoing speculation of a move to Tottenham Hotspur which comes after Anthony Elanga's departure to Newcastle United.
The England international initially withdrew from joining the squad in Portugal due to a private matter, which was separate from the transfer conversations.
He has since reunited with his teammates before their contest against Fulham with his transfer still potentially looming.
New signings Igor Jesus and Jair Cunha could make their debuts in a Forest shirt on Saturday.
Both penned deals after their duties for Botafogo at the Club World Cup concluded and Jesus particularly caught the eye.
The 24-year-old striker will be eager to prove a point as a principal player to spearhead Forest to greater heights given that Nuno's outfit in their previous two matches have failed to notch a goal.
Nicolas Dominguez remains out of action for a considerable period after sustaining a knee injury.
Meanwhile, Wales international Neco Williams is still unavailable for selection, yet upon extending his contract Trentside, he stated that he was expecting to complete his recovery before the season starts.
Fulham
In stark contrast to their upcoming opponents, Fulham have scored five goals in their last two games and will give a typically resolute Forest defensive unit cause for concern.
Silva has a fully fit squad to experiment with while Emile Smith Rowe and Harry Wilson have showcased their eye for goals recently.
Antonee Robinson's 10 assists for The Cottagers last season was more than any other full-back, and he will surely be utilised as an outlet.
His exemplary service to attackers and aptitude for crosses often gave license to Alex Iwobi to roam inside and they worked in tandem to provide an offensive threat.
Rodrigo Muniz and Raul Jimenez will vye to justify their place regularly in Silva's starting elevens going forward.
Josh King also signed a new contract which will see him continue his stay in South West London until 2029.
He could become a greater part of Silva's plans having got himself on the scoresheet in Fulham's 4-1 rout against Aberdeen.
Likely lineups
Nottingham Forest
Sels; Aina, Milenkovic, Murillo, Abbott; Yates, Sangare; Jota Silva, Gibbs-White, Hudson-Odoi; Jesus
Fulham
Leno; Castagne, Andersen, Bassey, Robinson; Berge, Lukic; Wilson, Smith Rowe, Iwobi; Muniz
Key Players
Nottingham Forest - Callum Hudson-Odoi
As star winger Anthony Elanga has been poached by Newcastle United and Gibbs-White is seemingly on the cusp of a move to North London, an opportunity presents itself to Hudson-Odoi to step into the limelight and surpass his remit to post significant attacking numbers next season.
Losing strong relationships can often provoke doubt over new partnerships working to the same efficacy, but Hudson-Odoi has the capability to be self-centric and threaten with his direct dribbling.
Igor Jesus' introduction may catalyse a more dynamic front line and more output from the striker in various phases of play may support the English winger.
Forest are sure to have deals in the works to replace Elanga and consequently maintain their threat in transition, so Hudson-Odoi will have to reinforce how valuable he is for Forest in the final third.
Fulham - Alex Iwobi
Iwobi demonstrated his immense durability after playing in all 38 games last season and providing 15 goal contributions.
The 29-year-old is entering his third season at Fulham and his effect on the team has gradually improved.
This has also been influenced by his burgeoning partnership with Robinson, which has seen the left flank become a vital asset to Fulham.
He has not been in and amongst the goals so far in pre-season, so this could give him the added motivation in this tie against Forest.

I wonder if the so-called "Fans advisory board" has anything to say about another case of the fans being an afterthought.
Or maybe those on the FAB are the kind of 'fan' that's not that bothered by pre season friendlies?
I'm not going to Portugal but this action just reminds me how poor the club regards my experience in the Hammersmith End.

Looking forward to this one, regardless of everything. Thankfully it is televised in Serbia so I will be able to watch it too.

Robinson, Lukic and Iwobi on the bench the only surprises (considering they usually started last season when available).

What about Iwobi?
I wouldn't be surprised if Marco changed the whole 11 in the second half, so he wanted to have good options for the second half too:
Borto/Lecomte
Castagne Diop Cuenca Robinson
Lukic Reed/Ridgeon
Godo Andreas Iwobi
Traore
Or something like that.
Quote from: Jules on July 26, 2025, 07:46:59 PMI see Arsenal just signed Gyokeres. Why didn't we go for Gyokeres when we went up and he was at Coventry? Wish we had taken him and Semenyo who was at Bristol C at the time. Both did really well against us scoring in the championship. We just don't seem to target the championship for some reason. We must find a way to target players with potential for future profit sales rather than 34 year old keepers and older players on huge wages like Sterling. Happy we have locked down our young prospects which is great, but feel like we are missing something with our transfer window strategy.
We didn't really have a chance at signing him since Mitrovic hadn't thrown his toys out of the pram yet and there wasn't really any sign that the Saudis were interested. He wanted to be the main man wherever he went next.
Not sure what it has to do with this friendly though.

That turn and pass on the break. Hate to say it but looked more threatening than ESR again
Am watching a Spanish stream and the commentator finally realized they've been calling Bassey Sessegnon this entire time.
Men against boys so far....whole team looks sharp and fighting for their places.
No surprise with the team they have put out and their general tactics anyway but they have just put 11 men behind the ball. Difficult to find space but great run and finish from Harry a then a great free kick. Brilliant pass from Bassey as well. King looked excellent. Tough as so little space but need more from ESR and Muniz.
Defensively, we've had some poor moments, with Awoniyi in particular causing us some problems. Generally speaking, we were okay defensively though.
Offensively, we kept the ball really well and got in to dangerous areas with ease. Two great goals from Wilson too. Towards the end of thw half, our passing got really sloppy.
It has to be said that Forest played with none of their starters, and their lineup included a few youth players. I expect them to be much better in the second half.
It is essentially Fulham v Awiyoni (Andersen having real trouble with that bout).
Muniz was very quiet. Will be interesting to see how we set up second half.
Standouts were Wilson, Bassey and King.
Very strong half. Harry Wilson 2 very good goals. We are well on top but the Forest team are mostly kids. They will be putting several first teamers on at half time. Will be a good run out anyway. It is a very warm evening for the players.

Do they have many injuries, or is our squad that much better? Because we could put a completely different eleven in the first half and it would be an 11 I'd expect to be competitive against relegation threatened sides, unlike Forest's second 11 that looks really weak.

Leno
Castagne-Diop-Cuenca-Sess
Lukic-Reed
Pereira
Traore Iwobi

Superb from Muniz there. Shame we didn't score.
Castagne looks sloppy, but understandably so, considering his recent surgery.

Poor marking from Adama there
That goal was coming. Diop and Traore having mares this game.
Bit silly asking Traore to mark Wood but it's pre season ::tongue::
I like some of the things I've seem from Lupalo-Bi. Obviously very raw and not at PL level yet, but I hope we can find him a L1/L2 loan. I think it would be better for his development than playing in our youth team.
King, Lupalo-Bi and Essenga looking every bit as composed as the regular first teamers.

This is the thing. We are all frustrated with the lack of outfield signings at this point but if that is actually their squad their first half team was woeful. They will prob lose MGW on top who is by far and away their best player with Elanga gone. The business we have done keeping all our key assets can't be underestimated. We didn't even have Robinson or Raul.
We will of course add 3 or 4 quality players on top. Honestly it's nowhere near as bad as folk are making out with the squad we have managed to retain and tonight showed it. A load of teams in a worse position than Forrest as well. Keep calm and trust all will be fine in the end.
Positives:
First half in general
Wilson popping up in key positions
King looking like he should be starting at CAM
Bassey still strong
Leno did as much as he could

Negatives:

Traore hardly got a single pass right
Diop had a mare

Yeah agreed. Watched Essenga a few times and nowhere near good enough on the ball at this point. Lupolo-Bi seems to have grown a foot vs last year to me. Looked decent for the U21's but not great non league on loan by all accounts but defo something about him and defo fits a Marco lone 9 system. Still a long way off at the moment I'd say.

He was? Hardly managed a forward pass without giving away the ball and left the back exposed by fluffing clearances several times. Not sure what constitutes very good to you, but that wasn't it.
I also don't think I've said anything negative about Diop more than a handful of times since he joined the club (like Crawley away), but you can keep your made up narratives if it makes you feel clever.

If you want to know the score you have to pay £5.99... :slap: :slap:
It's annoying, they won't even give text commentary and the only way to follow is to pay £5.99 or on this thread.
Didn't get to watch but sounds an encouraging outing, great to see Wilson picking up where he left off.
Quote from: jayffc on July 26, 2025, 09:57:09 PMEnjoying the forest commentary team desperately trying to make out Jesus has been phenomenal. I mean, he's been alright but you'd think he was set for the balloon d'or 🤣
I thought the best quote by the Forest goons was "Apart from scoring the three goals they've not troubled us"
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

MOTM for me. Seemed by far in the best shape and was very lively and sharp
Hope we can see a peak season from him this year.
Lets not overthink this lads...

Agreed our first half team was much stronger than theirs. Their second half team it was 1-1.

I'm going to Portugal from the 30th July till 4th August
Having been informed that we were playing Victoria Guimares on the 2nd of August
On the bright side, could be be worse ::scarf:: ::beer::

Sure, and our second half team was weaker with our backup defence and Reed + subs for 2 academy players. No one's seriously running away with it but felt mostly comfortable with where we're at
Remember when friendlies were about fitness, cohesion and nothing else lads?
That is how we should be looking at this.

If they're staying in the same sports hotel as last year, it's in Lagos, towards Porto do Mos.

Thought essenga looked very nervy tbh. Hopefully getting some minutes under his belt he can ease into pre season a bit more.
Lupalo-bi agree did look decent and with a strong frame. One to keep an eye on for the future
Esenga has a great left foot and fabulous vision but I would be terrified of a PL player closing him down on the press. Definitely lacks that ability. Also unclear if he has the athleticism to get up and down the pitch. I really do like him but he might just be a championship player(which is still an enormous accomplishment just not particularly profitable).

To late Somerset.... it's like a frenzy out there... I've already put the house on us to win the treble

Always so negative Somerset. We're going to win the league and this just proves we need to make zero signings now!
(But we do know if we'd of lost, all the chat would have been about lack of early signings....)

Quote from: Tabby on July 26, 2025, 10:02:15 PMPositives:
First half in general
Wilson popping up in key positions
King looking like he should be starting at CAM
Bassey still strong
Leno did as much as he could
Lupalo-Bi and Essenga not looking out of place
Negatives:
Midfield in second half got no control, Reed looking out of his depth in defensive midfield
Traore hardly got a single pass right
Diop had a mare
Trouble in getting the ball into the striker, Forest have 3 at the back so that is somewhat understandable
Just looking at the highlights King's vision is amazing at times...talk about let the ball do the work

Watched the game, FFC pretty much bossed this match, particularly in first half. Although not sure how significant, don't think Forest playing their better players? Anyway, nice show by the lads. I still can't believe how high up the table Forest finished last season, never really thought they were that good. But, the table doesn't lie, I guess.
Good games from Wilson, Sessegnon, King, Tete, Bassey
Noticeably poor games from Traore, ESR, Muniz, Iwobi
Andersen made several very nice long diagonals, right on the money
Leno still doesn't know what clean sheet means
Traore still one of my favorite players, but he was invisible out there. Scratching my head....

I'm not sure how Leno not keeping a clean sheet is his fault considering Adama decided not to mark his man at the corner

I'm not being protectionist towards Adama here but in no way should he be relied on to defend, let alone be marking their lone striker known for heading. That was a lapse and poor decision making organisationally by one of or both of our centre backs. Would need to watch back but in almost certain Diop wasn't marking anyone....

I'm not sure we should single players out for criticism for their performance in a warm up game in July !
Surely yesterday was about blowing away the cobwebs, just imagine if we had lost 3-1 😳

Exactly that.
People need to manage expectations this time of the year.

I mean, I agree and results really don't matter. All about blowing cobwebs and expanding the lungs for match fitness. I ins are a bonus for momentum for really meaningless.
My key takeaways (it is a pre-season game which means nothing but still good to discuss!) will try and focus on positives
Leno made some good saves I thought, Andersen and Bassey both made some good passes and looked comfortable on the ball .. (in the first half we must have had 70%+ possession). Thought Sessegnon looked really good going forward at LB especially in the 1st half. Once Hudson-Odoi came on in 2nd he looked less good (defending not his strongpoint)
Thought our whole midfield did very well first half, Berge was controlling the game which I'd like to see him do more in Prem games. Josh King looked very good and sharp. Most impressed I've ever been with him I think and good to see him start a game.
Wilson, so good, two very good goals which was great to see. Muniz and ESR both pretty invisible which were my only qualms with a very good first half performance
Second half performance was not as strong but was impressed by Lukic (loved his work rate and energy)

I see absolutely nothing wrong with fans in this forum posting constructive critique in a pre-season game. That's what this forum is for, and that's what fans like to do.
These guys are pro athletes and have been in training for awhile, and nothing wrong with posting out good/poor performances. We all recognize early in the overall season and it is pre-season, and players will obviously get better moving forward as more time passes and the team/players start to gel and understand the system and get their legs under themselves.
Two of my favorite players in Muniz and Traore had rather poor shows. Am I worried or concerned about it? Of course not. I acknowledge it is pre-season and this is just basically an advanced training session. Fully expect to see improvement moving forward.

Agree with this.
Also, I think it's important to note that players like Adama, Diop, Cuenca, Castagne,(maybe even Iwobi and Reed) played against much higher level of opposition than the players in the first half did. I'm not saying that Wilson wouldn't have had a better game than Adama, or Tete than Castagne, etc regardless of the half they played in, I'm just saying that this made the gap even bigger than it would normally have been (i.e. some of the "poor" performances might not have been as visible if they were against Forest academy players).
P.S. I thought Muniz was decent in the second half for the time he was on the pitch. Nothing spectacular, but few moments of decent hold up play and also great skill to get on the end of a long ball from midfield(Lukic or Reed passed it, not sure which) which led to one of our better chances in the second half.
Muniz also put a lovely ball across the box from wide right, alas nobody ran into the 6 yard box to tap it in.
