Title: Ruiz in Dutch magazine
Post by: sipwell on December 07, 2011, 12:00:07 PM
Best summed up as follows:

1) Fulham wasn't his "dream club" nor his first choice. He actually didn't wanted to come but his manager nonetheless convinced him to sign the contract (financially interesting and a good talk with Martin Jol)

2) he doesn't feel like he plays enough games. He is a bit frustrated about that

3) People had too high expectations of him initially. He knows he was a very important player for Twente but he needs to build muscles and learn to decide faster. He says that playing more games would help him. That would allow him to build up a rhythm (see also 2)

4) He thinks he'll need a full year to be on his "level" again (that is, the upgraded and adjusted version of Twente's Ruiz)

5) He thinks everybody should congratulate sipwell more often for his genius and outstanding contributions on Friends of Fulham

Cheers Sipwell. I think it is pretty clear that Dembele and Ruiz are not here for the long haul but I think one thing we will learn with Martin Jol is that he buys exciting players if you look at his signings at Tottenham. I asked my Dad the other day, who's the most exciting player to watch since we've had since Dembele and he said Malbranque. I suppose Boa Morte and Duff to a lesser extent were exciting to watch. I've strayed a bit off Ruiz here but yeah, he's going to take a while to adapt but you can see he's only going to get better. I imagine he will eventually move on but for a profit I hope.

What does piss me off is those mugs at games that 'he's useless', 'he's rubbish' or 'what a waste of money' when Ruiz does one wrong thing.

We're never going to win League titles but I think the best we can do is be entertainers and under Jol I believe we will do that.

I think he has a point about playing more games. I saw no benefit in telling a playing he needs to get up to speed for the Prem then not playing him. If he had a choice he would have preferred to go to Spuds or somebody higher. Well that is only natural. But he is looking better and better and his all round game is already looking great.

Shame about his last comment which I am sure will draw a fine from the club. 083.gif

Hmm not exactly singing our praises. I reckon he has a great future so hope he does stay and get stuck in.

As for the part in there about Sipwell... He is clearly dillusional  :dft011:

Lets be honest unless you have supported Fulham would we ever be a "dream Club" for anyone?
When any player is signed, the Manager/CEO needs to sell the club and the future to him.
We have a higher profile now because of Europe and I'm sure that helps, but in the end players will pretty much play where they are wanted and of course how much they are paid.

Sort out point 4 and point 2 won't be a problem anymore.

If I was Bryan Ruiz I'd be having very serious doubts as to whether I'd made the right move.

Which is reflected in what he says, really.

Am i alone in having serious doubts about Ruiz. I watched him particularly closely in the first 10 minutes of Mondays game. One glorious pass through to Dembele but half a dozen misplaced passes that gave the ball to Liverpool - we cannot afford players who do that. I didnt get the impression that there was a great improvement on that ratio throughout the rest of the game.

All makes sense to me and if I was him, I would have known far more about Spurs than Fulham.

He's right about needing games and that's been my frustration until lately that he won't get the pace of the English game unless he's palying. That's 2 starts in a row now though and you can see he has a good eye for a pass (The lovely through ball to your conutrymen Sipwell in the 1st half!).

It would be interesting to see his views in 3-4 months time. Hopefully it will be a lot more positive for him and also for us and we'll have seen how good I think he could be.

As for point 5, I think it was miq-quoted, he actually said that Sipwell will convince Chadli to join the FFC revolution as well from Twente!

I think that he is now in the first XI providing he is fit and not suspended. Looking forwards to seeing how develops.

It was going so well until point 5, where it would appear he is definitely a sausage short of a barbeque. As the psychiatrist said to the mental patient who was in his surgery dressed only in clingfilm, "Well Sir, I can clearly see your nuts"

You beat me to it. He's started last couple of games and hasn't looked out of place. Jol wants to play him because he has to justify the fee to MAF, so I'm expecting him to play from now on if fit.

Or, as Matt above nearly said, "Sort out point 2 and point 4 won't be a problem anymore."

If a player needs "a full year to adjust" - I guess that explains why a premium is paid for players already established in EPL.

I'm happy to have him in the starting XI, i think he just needs to learn that not every pass has to be something amazing, sometimes just go for the quick basic pass to a team mate.

early on, Clint got caught on the ball all the time in the prem.  After a while he adjusted and i think he is a much better player now, knowing when to dribble and when to make a quick pass to a teammate.  Also, if he gets caught on the ball now he just falls over and gets a foul.  ha

One thing I did like about him on Monday was that he was always showing for the ball, making himself available for a pass.

Would rather 3 Ruiz's than one Andy Carroll though, or Jordan Henderson.... Some players take time to adjust, others don't eg Suarez, Torres, Hangerland. Signing any player (and manager) is a risk at how they will adjust to new team mates, formations, coaching methods etc

Ruiz Pledges Loyalty to FFC

Following media reports today concerning interviews I gave in Holland last week about my move to Fulham Football Club, I wish to make it known to the Club's supporters that as soon as Fulham's interest was apparent to me in the summer, and despite very public interest from other clubs, I was only ever intent on joining FFC.

As I said on the day I signed, I was attracted by the Club's ambition and the opportunity to play under Martin Jol. Fulham felt far more personal to me than any of the other clubs I visited and there was no question of me joining any other Premier League team once I had spoken to Fulham's representatives.

The truth of the matter is I'm delighted to be at Fulham Football Club. I'm back in the Team, we're playing well and I feel like I'm showing my true form. We started the week brilliantly against Liverpool and I just want to focus on helping the Team against Swansea on Saturday. I am indebted to the Chairman and Martin Jol for bringing me here and I want to thank the Fulham fans for the warm reception and affection they always show towards me.
