Title: NFR: Summer's lease has all too short a date
Post by: cmg on June 10, 2012, 02:33:28 PM
I know I tend to bang on a bit about the glories of yesteryear. But I try not to overlook the wonders available today. Unfortunately genius all to soon fades away and remains alive only in the memories of those fortunate enough to have witnessed it.

Many years hence those younger than myself will be able to tell their grandchildren, "Yes, but back in 2012 Lionel Messi was doing this..."

(No need to tell tham that the 2012 model Brazil did not come with a defence as standard.)

Highly entertaining game. Seems to have taken place in a vast, roofless, bowling alley in that bit of NYC that has managed to escape to 'Joisey'. Some sumptuous attacking play, slightly less sumptuous defence, alarming goalkeeping and to top it off (just in case some were fooled by the 'friendly' label) a double sending-off with Ezequiel Lavezzi doing a magnificent 'berserk Argentinian' impression.

Not bad but could he do it at Stoke on a wet and cold Tuesday night in January?

:hook:

I guess he'll spend the rest of his life bitterly regretting that he never got the chance...

"Hey, Lionel. How would you like to play at the Britannia?"

Hmmmm...not bad, I remember scoring a similar one in primary school in the annual grudge Our Lady Queen of Heaven v. Our Lady of Victories match...  :dft011:
