Title: Welcome to age 65
Post by: HatterDon on July 20, 2012, 11:54:48 PM
Just discovered that Carlos Santana was born July 20, 1947. So, even though he's younger than me, I'm still 65 for a little while and welcome into the club.

Here's the first time I ever heard any Santana -- perhaps my most amazing visit to the cinema ever.

Santana: Soul Sacrifice (Woodstock - 1969) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=is14oiI9Juo#)

Funny that.  I was listening to Sticky Fingers by the R Stones the other day.
"That's Carlos Santana," exclaimed my wife.
"NOT," I replied.
Damned if they really tried to get Mick Taylor to sound like him though.  Santana, like Albert Lee was an original.  They were both so far ahead of the big Brit guitarists who took the world by storm and made all the money from re-treads of BB and Albert King blues solos - WITH MUCH MORE DISTORTION.

Personally, I'm a big fan of 'Oye Como Va' and 'Black Magic Woman'.

Samba pa Ti for me plus his much under-rated albums "Caravanserai" and "Welcome".

Saw him and his band at the Hammersmith Odeon in 1975.

I joined the 65 club in May.

Sonny, don't be throwing your weight around just because you have a pair of jack boots. I'll be 65 on Sunday and come 1 August I become unemployed  (some call it retirement). That makes me a democrat. I'll be holding my hand out to collect that money that you so thoughtfully pay in each month. So there!

Oh! It just so happens I was listening to Carlos in my car on the way home tonight. Great minds follow the same path.

Caravenserai is one of the best concept albums of all time in my opinion.

One of my favourites is 'Treat' off the 'Santana' album

Top stuff Mr Hat.

I am a couple of months away from the 46 year old club. What with my gammy leg, prostrate problems, war wounds, ringing ears, ingrowing toenails, belly fluff, challenging kids, etc. I feel a darn sight older than that.

Oops, the sun is out. Positively no moaning aloud. Summer is here!

If you've got prostrate problems, just stop lying around and get up on your bleedin' feet!   :011:

Can't be that bad, Burt - at least you haven't grown a rug on your back.

Being some what hairless in my youth 3 chest hairs and a once a week shave, only in desperation that this would prompt an out burst of facial hair .I can now inform you that a the tender age of 45 that hair does grow in the most unwanted areas.

My eyebrows are making the way towards my fringe !
Ears and nasal hair seem to be making a break for freedom !
What im losing on the top of my head makes up for whats growing on the back of me neck!
From having no hair on my back i now have a very soft but fluffy blanket !
as for the downstairs department front store and basement well im not going there....

Recently, I was diagnosed with A.A.A.D.D. -
Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder.

This is how it manifests:

I decide to water my garden.
As I turn on the hose in the driveway,
I look over at my car and decide it needs washing.

As I start toward the garage,
I notice mail on the porch table that
I brought up from the mail box earlier.

I decide to go through the mail before I wash the car.

I lay my car keys on the table,
put the junk mail in the garbage can under the table,
and notice that the can is full.

So, I decide to put the bills back
on the table and take out the garbage first.

But then I think,
since I'm going to be near the mailbox
when I take out the garbage anyway,
I may as well pay the bills first..

I take my check book off the table,
and see that there is only one check left.
My extra checks are in my desk in the study,
so I go inside the house to my desk where
I find the can of Pepsi I'd been drinking.

I'm going to look for my checks,
but first I need to push the Pepsi aside
so that I don't accidentally knock it over.

The Pepsi is getting warm,
and I decide to put it in the refrigerator to keep it cold.

As I head toward the kitchen with the Pepsi,
a vase of flowers on the counter
catches my eye--they need water.

I put the Pepsi on the counter and
discover my reading glasses that
I've been searching for all morning.

I decide I better put them back on my desk,
but first I'm going to water the flowers.

I set the glasses back down on the counter,
fill a container with water and suddenly spot the TV remote.
Someone left it on the kitchen table.

I realize that tonight when we go to watch TV,
I'll be looking for the remote,
but I won't remember that it's on the kitchen table,
so I decide to put it back in the den where it belongs,
but first I'll water the flowers.

I pour some water in the flowers,
but quite a bit of it spills on the floor.

So, I set the remote back on the table,
get some towels and wipe up the spill.

Then, I head down the hall trying to
remember what I was planning to do.

At the end of the day:
the car isn't washed
the bills aren't paid
there's a warm can of Pepsi sitting on the counter
the flowers don't have enough water,
there's still only 1 check in my check book,
I can't find the remote,
I can't find my glasses,
and I don't remember what I did with the car keys.
Then, when I try to figure out why nothing got done today,
I'm really baffled because I know I was busy all day,
and I'm really tired.

I realize this is a serious problem,
and I'll try to get some help for it,
but first I'll check my e-mail....

                             APPY BIRTHDAY HD yee-haw!

On July 2, 1947, an object crash landed on a ranch, approximately 75 miles northwest of Roswell, leaving a large field of debris. The local air base at Roswell investigated after the rancher first reported it to Roswell authorities on July 6. On July 8, the Roswell Army Air Field (RAAF) announced it had recovered a "flying disk". A few hours after the initial "flying disk" press release, U.S. Army Air Force officials stated that it was not a UFO, but a weather balloon
