I think it's more likely to be
Schwarzer
Riether Hughes Hangeland Riise
Duff Sidwell Diarra Richardson
Rodallega
Petric
Solid looking team, looks all prepared to counter Sams kick and rush football, encouraged and motivated by Carroll leading the line, hopefully he will be all energy with no finesse today. Hope Rodellaga gets off the mark today to give him confidence. If H &H deal with Carroll and Berbatov and Kaclinic coming on for the last 20 we could get a comfortable win today. :scarf:
Rodellega will play furthest forward with Petric just in behind. Think we'll play more of a 4-4-2 as dont think we need the third central midfielder against west ham.
Having a minor panic attack...we have no playmaker in that starting line up...gunna have to go old fashioned down the wings.

I know how you must be feeling !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ugh. West Ham is always 6 points dropped anyway.
This is a comedown after the Berba signing.
Great start Fulham, 1-0 Nolan on 52 seconds.... Carroll beating Hangeland in the air flicking ball onto Vaz Te who plays in Nolan, goal
We never do well at Upton park so that was no surprise.
BTW one of the bookies were offering the West Ham win and Nolan to score at any time for 6-1.
Horrible start for Richardson, given the ball away 3 times in the first 4 minutes, looks sluggish, needs to settle quickly and wake up
Richardson effort from 30 yards, forces a save from Jaaskelainen, West Ham look so up for this game, we are looking for Dembele
Our defence is in bits
Jeez, we do not look up for it at all.
9' Richardson gives ball away to Vaz te, cross knocked back by Carroll, Diame shot smashes against bar from fine Schwarzer save
We look atrocious.
Gees, we seem totally unable to defend against this "hoof ball".

Are you watching the same game, WHU look quick, pacy and are putting in great crosses we cant deal with it, they are playing football, we are playing (apparently)
I can't bear this much longer.
12' WHU play ball around us like we arent there great strike by Vaz Te really well saved by Schwarzer, corner came to nothing
13' First time Riise has gotten the ball in their half, so ensues first brief foray into their half
Who would have thought big Sam's west ham would be showing us how to play football
Carroll is dominating Hangeland and apparently can cross

All but one chance created so far from WH has been from high passes being flicked down by headers.
Nearly an assist for Hangeland, picture perfect replica chance for Duff of the first V Norwich, FFC hoofball at its finest, Nolan lobs ball onto top of the net. We are being destroyed by them putting the ball on Carrolls chest/head and playing from it, he's like a big lanky Geordie Cantona, and we hoof clear...
We're playing 4-3-3. Petric rod and duff up front. Richardson Diarra and Sidwell midfield.
18' Riether pushes Carroll in box, its one of those you get outside the box - so technically a pen... Nothing given
Looks like Jol has replaced Dembele with a patch of turf.
we look so light weight right now....cant see how we are going to get in there half...predicting 3-0 to west ham already
Unleash the Berba!
We need Senderos back in the starting line up. The both centrebacks need to be distributing the ball out of defence. Hughes for his solidity, isn't offering the same outlet and Diarra needs to come back to him to receive the ball.
Big problem is the back 4 have no protection, they are screaming for some help from the midfielders -they actually are!
Count berbula needs service though. Not gonna get it today.
We look lost in midfield without Dembele or Ruiz, that's why we're bypassing it.

Berba can play midfield and provide service!
Richardson loses ball again, I think we're up to 7 times now!
Richardson looks like a dear in headlights... reminds me of Ruiz against Blackburn on his debut! Too early for him!
shambles can't wait for half time.
Richardson is appaling. So much wasted possession.
Defence backing off and sitting far too deep. Richardson can't keep possession.
In midfield completely agree with Matt Inglis above, the midfield 3 look absent of confidence, none of them showing for the ball, thus we are hitting long balls to Rodallega or Duff from the back...

Wow. Just wow...
this is just so frustarting to watch...i think i have had enough already
No Dembele no hope
Swart looks like an old man today. So slow in his reactions. But we have no penetration.
This could get really embarrassing scoreline wise if this carries on like this.
Total crap
The annoying thing is I think if we got the ball to Petric we could score! Rodallega not covering back is a serious problem
We are away from home. Jut need some composure and some spark from someone.
Wil
But we beat the bleedin Canaries 5-0 (!)
That's the attitude.... no really, it seems you're right! :( Reo-Coker?
34' Another push on Carroll, we keep getting away with it, poor kick from Schwarzer, here comes another claret and blue wave
richardson is the player that is basically playing the Dembele role, and unfortunately he's just wandered around for the whole game so far or given it away. One good maurading run and shot from him but both fruitless.

No Dempsey, Dembele, & Murphy = no possession. Got to get that solved.
This does not look like a team that can score at least two away from home, and it does not look like a team that can hold an opponent to only two. Poor defensive effort, poor midfield play, no threat in the final third. Losing Dembele was bound to cripple the offense, what's the rest of the team's excuse? Richardson lacks the skills to do what he's attempting, he's no Dembele, not even a Ruiz.
This could get very ugly. Can anyone step up to the task?
No wonder we got Rolladega for free

we have a threat in the attacking third just no one who's able to get the ball, control the game and play it to them properly. I think Rodallega has been the only positive so far.
every team sees us as a light weight team, a team you can bully, we dont take the game to teams away from home, this has been so disheartening to watch.

What the hell!
At least join the battle lads, this is awful!
Why, oh why do we let these kind of teams bully us...
The gap between midfield and attack is horrible.
Richardson looks out of his depth in the middle and sidwell looks out of his depth full stop. Was said last night about midfield and it's showing today big time.
Are you serious 3-0 we are not looking good, shame shame
I've given up before its even begun. This is going to be a long old season..
Even Allardyce having a heart attack on the touchline could not cheer me up now.
There goes our goal difference.
Awful feel sorry for all that made the trip. Going to be a very long season. So little creativity it's scary
When the defense is this poor, we have no chance, because our offense isn't sufficiently strong.
This has gotten very ugly. WHam could easily do to today's Whites what we did to Norwich. Clueless and uninterested.
I am personally blaming Jol for the team selection, but hey that's just me.
Hughes, Hangeland, Richardson, Sidwell out - if we are going to play like this bring in the youngsters and give them a go.
Gonna miss Berbatov's debut now. There's no way I'm watching anymore of this poo. This could be 6 or 7 by the time they finish with us.
Bollocks :(
No pressing when off the ball no movement when on the ball. West Ham deserve this lead. We're playing crap!

ALOT worse players than him in this side mate. As for his tracking back also watch riise when he attacks and even Richardson almost all look extremely unfit
Have we ever looked so disinterested against a poor West Ham side. As much interest as we showed against Sheffield Wednesday. Poor old Jol. From two great league games to two awful games and as well as a poor transfer day.
No spark, no movement, no closing down. Overall, disappointing.
no way in hell should richardson and sidwell be starting....our midefield looks terrible, apart from diarra. You could use our first half display for coaching course on how not to set up your team.
I wil say it again till I am god-d@mned blue in the face--NO DEMBELE, DEMPSEY & MURPHY = NO POSSESSION.

If Jol owns a hair dryer, he needs to get it out now
They all need to take a look in the mirror, Duff and Petric the only ones who I would refrain from criticising at the moment
Richardson is having an absolute nightmare.
He has given the ball away about 6 times by taking too long, and he is not trying to put in any challenges.
Hopefully he is just short of match fitnes, but I hope he doesn't come out second half!

Frustrating thing is we were so close to being on a par with Spuds. Now we lose our best players to them and end up being beaten by a side like Spam. Shame of what might have beens.

We have had 58% possesion, it's what we are not doing in defence , 3 really poor goals given away. Need to get our act together here or we are going to know how Norwich felt.
Bet Berbatov wishes that club car had stopped off at Spuds now!!
I still for the life of me dont understand why we didnt go for Adam in exchange for Clint, sky said he was offered but we turned it down!
We are trying to play the same way when we had Dembele & Ruiz, through the middle. We haven´t the skill or pace to do this. We must use the wings as WH are & bring on Berb for Petric. Poor sod is not getting any service at all.
What´s up with the defence? All 3 goals down to sloppy play.
Better possession but it's all been in our own half. We've shown nothing in the final third and our defence has been a shambles. Can usually rely on our defence so don't know what's happened there.

Agreed and to think this is the most important season to stay in the prem with the enormous uplift in tv money next year. What where they thinking????
Richardson off Berba on in the number 10 role push higher up the field and make them play it out from the back
Reither is shocking.. kelly needs to come on
Richardson looks sloppy but give him time - he looks like he has a few pounds to shed - id throw on kaca or else berbatov and drop rodallega back
jol needs to swollow pride. kaca should be on for richardson berba for sidwell and stockdale for schwarzer. we need to go long ball as our midfield is not good enough to play the way he wants.. sad state of affairs when we need to by pass our own midfield but thats what happens when you have a bad as transfer window as we have had.
Hangeland has been terrible. He's not played well at all this season. Richardson doesnt look match fit.
Grandad is right, we need to be going down the wings. Sidwell is not good enough to start. Maybe Baird needs to be starting with Diarra.
Rodallega has looked bright, Duff has looked good as normal and I feel sorry for Petric as he's getting zero service.
This looks like a squad that will struggle to contend for 15th place, a shadow of the Whites who gave MU such a tussle last weekend. I guess we know how important Dembele was, and how rare that level of talent is, even if he rarely scores.
That doesn't explain the dreadful defensive effort, however. Ouch!!!
Too lightweight. I think there has only been 1 foul by Fulham. Not due to fair play just lack of effort to compete.
Thumping long balls at our 5'3" forwards doesn't help either.
Big worry is our German right back....getting found out today.
Early days but away form looks just like last season....and the one before....and before...etc.
West Brom next....I'm off now, too painful to watch.
berba on
petric off
Petric off, Berbatov on. Not change I was expecting
What, taking off Petric, Ugh
Barvatov on Petric off.
For all those who left when Dempsey left. Um ... WAIT FOR ME 064.gif
The very late departures have really hurt us. Our salary cap hasn´t helped either.
I don't know what good Berbatov is going to do. If we can't get him the ball in a decent way, it won't make a bit of difference.
Petric off for Berbatov..
Yes, that will fix it.. Hopefully they won't get 7.. I don't think I could handle that.
changed to 4-4-2
Don't understand the sub. The problem was midfield not up front.
Changes that have to be made.....
Schwarzer has to be really be under threat now, he has looked very slow, i dont question him as a shot stopper, but i reaslly think his mobility is getting found out alot now.
Sidwell and richardson are getting found out, i think duff is a good player but is suffering becuase of the others around him, he is meant to be a winger but hasnt had any service as winger or even looked like getting forward. I like diarra, but they have put massive pressure on him. German right back getting found out big time, he needs time though, big learning lesson for him.
I really question why we didnt do more business in the midfield area, we are so painfully short now. considering we have lost dembele and dempsey for £22m we basically havent spent anything in this transfer window.....im sorry fulham but you are bringing this on yourself.
As has been said an ounce of the display last week and we would be in this. Not sure the absence of Ruiz explains much but Petric looked like he could link things up wheras Rodders was all over the place although more energetic. Baffling substitution unless ther old tight calf excuse is rolled out. I can't understand Schwarz getting the blame, he stopped two more. Hate to say it but Hangers has got something on his mind and is not being a captain when one is really needed.
should we really watch this..... 085.gif

Our transfer policy has hurt us. We always leave it late. It was bound to bite us in the rear eventually. And it cost us midfield replacements for the Dems. Should not have waited to replace players we knew were going to be leaving.
A all-round pants display.
Away days........................................................
On the evidence of the season so far Hangeland is also becoming a weak link.. He has been dire this year.
Swart has looked poor but so too has Brede. Not close to some of the high balls. Carroll aint all that wonderful. Yet today is making Brede looks silly.
we lost are two best players and we need time to adapt. to be fair, West Ham are REALLY up for the match. It feels like there are 12 players on the pitch for them.
Lets see if we can settle down. Get a goal or two back and walk away with our heads up.

Let's not panic, we basically have an all new side from the team that had grown into a solid unit over the past several seasons. Once this group of very good footballers get a bit more familliar with one another we will be just fine. Very sad to see demps and dembele go had they stayed and added berbatov we really could have been a top 6 side... where's the ambition? lol... that's right qpr have all the ambition. LOL

Be angry for today but we'll be fine. We have quality and it will just take some time to get reorganized and getting the all the new faces to play well together.
i actually have some plus points but u may not agree...
i think Berba and Kaka looked good since coming on and Duff has looked alright in all 3 games
i also think Rodellga 2nd half has been really good - look forward to seeing him DOWN THE MIDDLE with Berba some more this season
I did not get much of an impression of Brede performing as a captain. Maybe I'm used to Murphy's obvious shouting and pointing but I saw more pointing from Berbatov today.
Just another thing that was lacking.

I know I'm already over it. Can't help but think that the international break is coming at the right time.
If we can get the CM situation sorted out, we've got the firepower up front. Berbatov looks impressive.
We committed 5 fouls. Shows a complete lack of heart. A totally gutless performance.
i really dont know what to say after that......worrying....

I agree. Always been a bit doubtful about his captaincy. He hasn't played well this season, and he doesn't seem very vocal. I think Diarra might be a better option. The captaincy seems to way heavy on Brede.
Rodallega played well today. No idea why people are criticising him. Seemed to have the makings of a decent partnership with Berbatov, who looked good when he came on. Not sure where Ruiz fits into the line up. Would be very harsh to drop Rodallega.
We created very little as we were playing far too narrow as normal. Sidwell I'm afraid just isnt equipped to play this system. I'd put Baird in there. I dont think Richardson was a) match fit and b) understood what was required of him. Which is totally understandable having only signed yesterday.
Defensively we looked terrible. Hangeland needs to sort himself out, and Stockdale deserves a chance in goal. How I wish we'd got Stekelenburg.
Well a better second half but only becaue Carroll went off and we were under less pressure, It is up to Jol to work round the problems that are there. It has been like a punch in the stomach this last week. But we do look ok if we can get the ball to the last third. Rodders and Berbatov look good together. But oh how we miss a midfielder who can damage the opposition.
Still a seaSon that not going down seems our best hope. We really should stop thinking ridding our selves of such good players can ever be anything but a disaster. One day we will learn why so many players wanted out and we were unable to replace them.
Brede - if he was a boxer he would be Audley Harrison - well built but looks scared and easily bullied when challenged

AGREE 100% mate.......
We had new players in new positions and no time for them to train together. And we never get anything at West Ham. There'll be time to panic if we play as badly as in the first half in two weeks' time.
We must play Kaca Berb & Rodders. Sidwell is hopeless. Diarra was our best player but can´t do it on his own. Our 2 full backs were penned back in our own half. Lots of work to be done over the next 2 weeks.
I am going to do my best to pretend this never happened. 2 weeks ago we looked great and today we were bloody awful. Richardson and Sidwell are useless. Bring in Kaka, Frei and Ruiz and hopefully this nightmare is over
What was really missing today was a playmaker like say Dembele or Murphy
Let's not forget the many away days we've had like this with Murphy, Dembele and Dempsey all playing.
It's a good time for a two week break for Jol to work out how we play with what we have.
And the Board have four months to consider lessons to be learned for future transfer windows.
I watched all 90 mns and still can't figure out what formation FFC were in. They didn't seem to be in any organized shape at all. As if 11 guys just showed up to play a Sat morning game of pick up.
Watching Sidwell in place of Dembele in the midfield is going to be rough. Feels kind of like I just traded in my lamborghini and left the lot in a minivan...

1st half positionaly we were awful 2nd half the 4-4-2 looked alot better however Sidwell would attack when we were defending which was strange to say the least

That's Jol's system though. The Dutch way is all about interchanging positions and changing formation though the game. We were 4-5-1, 4-3-3, 4-4-2 all at some point during the game.
While not our greatest showing, let's wait and see what we look like in a couple of weeks. We have a new team that needs to get to know one another. We lost some good players and brought in others. We will find our way. Might not be the season we want, but we're going to be fine...
Result not that bad. The first time I went to Upton Park we were beaten 7 - 2. Oh what a long journey home that was!

We always lost big when Bobby Drake played. Didn't we score first?

Oh, I get that. My point was more that the team itself had no cohesion in how they set up. Half the team may have been in a 4-4-2 form, but the other half might have been holding a 4-3-3. Up and down the pitch it didn't seem like all 11 players were on the same page.

I agree with you entirely, it was nominally a 4-3-3, but executed really badly, Richardson would frequently vacate the left of midfield and no one would drop in. Rodellega couldn't stop standing right on their RB completely out of the game.
It was so imbalanced. Particularly as we only have one CM of any real quality and Jol decided to play 3 of them.
