Title: My Fulham team! Yours? plan & strategy
Post by: BishopsParkFantastic on September 02, 2012, 11:10:31 AM
Until January, my team selection / formation would be as follows, with Ist choice in bold or italics (for pairings). Dejagah was  injured on signing, and unavailable - so much for our strict medicals!

                                            Berbatov / Petrov (Rodagella)

                                                         Ruiz / Berbatov

Kaca (Richardson)                                                                                   Duff (Dejagah)
                                    Frei (Baird/Sidwell)  Diarra (Sidwell/Baird)

Riise (Richardson) Hangeland (Senderos) Hughes (Riether) Riether (Kelly)

                                                             Schwarzer (Stockdale)

What we need to prioritise before January:
•   Getting Frei fit, and develop him to fill creative centre midfield
•   Negotiate Hangeland new contract, Diarra contract year extension, Riether permanent contract?
•   Trotta & Mesca out on loan to 1st division clubs, to be ready for next season!
•   Briggs, Kasami and Davies key players in the new 'under-21s' team
•   Scout for new experienced new players to replace / reinforce an ageing defence, and bring in next summer, Viz. Douglas, Strekeland (depends on how Stockdale progresses)

What we need to prioritise in the January transfer window:
With the £10m or £12m we have surplus from this summer's transfers, for the centre midfield, bring in:
- a high quality, creative CM player, from the likes of Aaron Ramsey, Boateng et al.
- a young emerging talent, the likes of Chris David
- an experienced player, the likes of Huddlestone (loan if necessary)

Your thoughts?

I like the idea of Frei or Dejagah playing a more central role - atleast until January. With Dembele + Murphy leaving, we really miss a creative influence alongside Diarra.

I think we still have a lot of quality Jol is looking at Richardson for centre mid and Kasami can play there maybe Dejagah can aswell, my team for West Brom would be a 4-2-3-1

Schwarzer

Riether Hughes Hangeland Riise

Diarra Sidwell

Duff Ruiz Rodallega

Berbatov

Subs - Stockdale , Kelly , Kasami , Frei , Richardson , Kaca , Petric

As I said in another thread, I'd try Davies in a central midfield role.

What about Trotta for Hughes & Mesca for Hangeland. We can then win 10-9 every game.

Frei would not make it as a centre mid. Dembele had the tools too because he was strong and he could tackle. Frei has neither of these.

At one point will go to 3-5-2...if successful it will remain permanent.

Davies-Diarra-Baird-Riise

Dejagah-Frei-Kaca

Bera-Petirc-Rodallega

Perfect.

I like it, would just move Berbatov into the middle of the three up front.

Again, tactical suicide!

Diarra is not a superman, he can't boss the midfield on his own.

I certainly haven't seen him play, so

1. What's his best position in your opinion?
2. Do you see him as a regular starter or more of a bench option?

He's a right winger and I think he will be a starter when fit. At least a very good option to have to push Duffer.

If we play Baird in CM with Diarra we will be over run by the better (most) teams, Baird is ok when we need to play an extra player in midfield.
Kasami might be worth a try, but like any of the youngsters it might be too much for him.
Davis could adapt to the Murphy role but I think Jol would see that as a step backwards.
Forget Richardson, Ruiz is too light weight, so it has to be Sidwell and Diarra until we get someone else in.

you cant play 2 defensive midfielders in baird and diarra. and sidwell far from impressed at the play off winners on saturday... richardson? will be lucky to make the bench on his last performance especially when ruiz frei and ashkan make the match day squad

This would work for me as well if we need two defensive mids. Petric could come in if we need a goal and we could drop Sidwell.

I see a lot of people saying Diarra is really just a DM. The thing that surprised me about him last year was his all round game and how he played could play both deep and more adavanced.
Baird can play the holding with Diarra the more attacking role, so ibdont see them together as an issue.

Something like this is what I would like to see. Little bit more attacking. Would love to see all of our attacking force same time on line-up (we actually have great attacking players now). :)

Subs:
Stockdale
Kelly
Senderos/Baird
Sidwell
Richardson/Dejagah/Frei
Rodallega
Trotta
