Title: Does anyone have any mates who played for Fulham.?
Post by: jarv on September 25, 2012, 01:38:09 PM
I have 2. First Vic Bragg, I believe he played 3 or 4 games in the first team then Buckingham let him go the following pre season. Played many years non league with Crawley. I think he is involved with Brighton now.
Steve Waller, again back in the 60s. His old joke (which I have heard many times)  broke his leg in his first game for Fulham (reserves). Turned out to be the last game for Fulham. went back to non league.

At my previous job I worked with Mark Blake, he was one of our clients. Really nice guy and honestly, I didn't know much about him but was really impressed when I actually looked him up. Played for us from 1994-1998. 137 appearances and 17 goals. I'm sure some of you will remember him?

I have a mate who plays for Fulham NOW. Does that count or you are asking for past players only?

I knew Steve Scrivens at school, he was a couple of years below me. Ken Norton or was it Steve Norton? played for Fulham, one was a golf pro at St. Georges, Weybridge. Also knew John Marshall, he took over from me to coach the local schools side, ( I think he was nobbing one of the teachers?)

I only know him to say hello to but my Mrs and a lot of mates know Carl Williams really well.
He made roughly ZERO first team appearances for the club in the 95/96 season before going to Carshalton (I think) and then many years Hitchin Town where he is now back as manager.

Nah not really, knew his mum mainly from my next door neighbour. He used to always throw me stuff when he was at Arsenal when I was younger but thats about it.

Still a slight connection to a player who played at fulham for a few games ;)

Tony, me old mate, I am your mate, aren't I? Yes, yes, I know, the death threats and all that, water under the bridge as far as I'm concerned, so that makes me a friend of a friend of a...

I did shake hands with the great man a couple of seasons ago (this is Ivor I'm on about, not Tony, who is also a great man) as he was waiting for Diddy to introduce him to the crowd, I told him he was a hero of my early adulthood, he laughed and said he could live with that.

One of my friends, Barry Firmin, was one of the linos at the Walsall match, all those years ago, which is about the closest I can get.

I'm not one to bear grudges but I do have friends and if you happen to receive a visit I can say here and now so as to avoid any uncertainty that it was nothing to do with me.

Moving at a tangent to Fulham, I have a friend in California, coaches a boys team with Romeo Beckham on it (yes, that Romeo Beckham). He says the English dad's who come to watch can be a nuisance to his old man at times.
My mate (was with spuds) played against Beckham once when they were about 16. Apparently DB didn't remember that game. :011:

A lad that played football for me until last year was at a local private school. They played rugby against the school that Beckhams kids were at (which ever one was 9 or 10). David wasn't there but Posh was. Sporting a massive unglamourous cold sore.
