Title: Players 'poppy' shirts worn against Arsenal on ebay for Royal British Legion
Post by: LBNo11 on November 12, 2012, 09:18:26 PM
Bid For Players' Shirts
Monday 12 November 2012 15:01

You could be the proud owner of a rare piece of Fulham memorabilia as we have put the players' match-worn shirts from Saturday's game with Arsenal on eBay to raise money for The Royal British Legion.

The shirts have each been signed by the relevant player, on both the front and back, and they feature a poppy on the chest in honour of Remembrance Day.

The shirts will remain on eBay until Monday 19th November, so get bidding today for your chance to win a one of a kind piece of Fulham kit. Just follow this link to be directed to the relevant eBay page.

100 percent of the final sale price will be donated to The Royal British Legion. The Royal British Legion safeguards the welfare, interests and memory of those who are serving or who have served in the Armed Forces. They are one of the UK's largest membership organisations and are recognised as custodians of Remembrance. The Royal British Legion also runs the annual Poppy Appeal.

Great idea.  Would love Berba's shirt but it's already twice the price of Kaca's in second place!

They did this last year and I had Gecov's up until about an hour before the bidding closed! Berba's is going to go for loads. All for a good cause too..

It will be interesting to see the final price of each shirt relative to each other. Would it be fair to say it reflects on how much each player is loved by the fans or simply each player's marketability.
If I were in Fulham merchandising, I'd use this information as a yardstick for creating new products.

Anyway, well done Fulham for a great idea.

I looked at who was bidding for Berbatov and one of them seems to be a proffesional sports memorabilia collector/seller. Suspect its going to be around the 2.5 mark and the cheapest will be around 300/350

By the way do you think they were washed first?

This is a conundrum. I've always wondered what you do if you get given/catch a player's shirt after a match.

Should you wash it? It's going to be pretty smelly and gross but isn't that the point of a match worn shirt? I'd be tempted to air it and then frame it, but might it go mouldy if something if it's unclean?

and wouldn't you frame it  ???

I wonder if the players are bidding on their own shirts ??? If I was a player  I think I would !!!!

Three shirts with poppies ...really ??

I would bid on my shirt,  to drive the price up  !! ........................ I'm a prideful creature and I am assuming some of the players are also.  I wouldn't mind getting Sidwell's shirt, I am  glad to see there are some bids for Stockdale's   shirt

I wouldn't wash it. If it had been signed then that might wash out or smudge. My Martin Jol shirt is packaged up in tissue paper. I might put in a last minute bid for Damian's if the price isn't too high, i expect it will be by the end of the auction though.

Usually it was buyers friends who did this, but with introduction of bidders history this has mainly stopped, cannot see the club pushing priceup
