both good players but can't see it happening, if we have got them for a fairly low value then I'd be happy but if we paid over 12m for them both I will be a bit annoyed.

If they rediscover their best form and take pay cuts and don't cost too much then at 28 and 29 I think they're pretty good options to have... As long as they're not guaranteed first team football. Dejagah and kaka/frei are in my opinion our long term focus but kaka and frei having downing to learn from cant be bad. Then obviously there's mesca etc...
I'd like to see this happen although bent more than downing.

Echo this. I dont have any desire to see Downing playign for us, never seen him play and thought Oooh Fulham missed out. Bent on the other hand. Pace, precision and an eye for goal, exactly what we need.
oh God, not Downing pleasssee. fp.gif He's the most over-rated, overpaid waste of space in the Premiership.
Wouldn't mind Bent but I'm not a fan of Downing at all.
the thing with Bent is he has moved on a lot. It tells me he is a head case, and after the honeymoon is over, we'll be just like the Villa, Sunderland, and Tottenham...he'll gives us 1 good year (or part of a year) and then we can't wait to get rid of him. I would rather find someone else unless he is cheap. Downing seems expensive and not worth the risk.
