Holy crap, Bent. Gotta have those. :dft007:
very disapointing

not going to get many chances like that though. kicked it straight at chec
bad finish but great chance. Don't we look better balanced today?
This is encouraging.

Yes ! I wonder if the absence of the Berb has something to do with that. Much more active movement up front.
We look alot more balanced than we have recently. And already look much more dangerous on the break
Terry to be the undoing of us .... Again....... Still 20 gone and we are still in it ( should be up)
Lot of english players in the team today.
Stockdale, Richardson, Parker, Sidwell, Bent
Then Duff and Hangeland who have English mentality I guess too.
A bit more possession & pressure on their back 4 is what we need. COYW!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Really hoping we give a good performance today even if we lose the, just want us to show we are playing better.
Is Haggers gradually going to sleep over the last 18 months
Can't see us winning but an altogether more encouraging performance so far
COYW
we do tire massively towards end of halves
Kasami is turning out to be some player
If Richardson could please stay fit he is a cracking left back
Chelsea booed off the pitch. This is good
Not too shabby!!!
so frustrating. why oh why cant we beat the first man with a corner.
I'm going to say it quietly but we seem so have some shape and a game plan!
Kasami, Parker bidders and Richardson all immense
Duffers corners are Sunday league though
So what is the difference for us today???? Is it simply the line up?
Really impressed by Kasami today, finally playing like a number 10. Really complete performance so far. And right on half time he showed some excellent off the ball movement and Bent should've picked him out.
He's developing so quickly this season.
Quote from: St Eve on September 21, 2013, 06:12:39 PM

i would seriously play him in cm next to parker or boatang. he looks like he could do that job with ease
Best half performance of the season. Great performances all over the park. We look much more dangerous going forward without Berbatov slowing things down. Don't see how Kasami can be dropped.
Kaca has been very quiet.
Richardson has looked good at lb.
Parker is such a good player. Just makes everything look so easy.
Amorebieta has done well.
Hazard dives all over the shop.
I'd have put my mortgage on bent putting that away :(
Huge chance but the fact the best one of the game so far has gone our way is very encouraging. The shape is so much better with bent further up and kasami in behind.

Well, I think so yes. As much as I love Berba he's been s***e this season by and large and has shown an appalling attitude. Ruiz meanwhile has been played in a role he isn't suited to, far too deep.
Kasami seems more suited to that role so perhaps they could rotate depending on how much possession we will have. In the games we'll have less, pick Kasami and the games we'll have more pick Ruiz but push him further forward.
very impressive performance so far if i'm honest, imagine bent put his shot away though...
Bent should have scored but he is making the runs we have been missing... Kasami is very good, his willingness to work hard for the team is a joy to watch....
we have much much better shape not having 2 wanderers in the side!!
Still look forward to seeing Taarabt also
This sort of performance could be used to motivate Berba, showing that he isn't quite as important as he seems to think and that he does in fact need to earn his money.
I hope we see the Berba of last season again.
I fancy taarabt for kaca at half time. They won't like it up them!
hope jol has some balls in this game and our first sub (injuries allowing) should be taraabt for either kaca or duff, probably duff as he is having some luck but doesnt have the pace to keep going when he turns ashley and cant cross with his right even if he does. we can win this come on you whites
Karagounis for Kaca is my prediction for next sub lol...
Quote from: alexbishop on September 21, 2013, 06:31:18 PM
Karagounis for Kaca is my prediction for next sub lol...
sadly it will probably happen. shortly followed by the new boy for richardson
On the hour mark, Mesca for Duff. Taarabt for Kaca. Rodallega for Bent. Sidwell and Parker playing well.
COYW !!!
time to make the subs jol.
just when I thought our defence had tightened up...
Lol...
Stockdales fault. Should have done better
too often we go short with goal kicks etc invite pressure the a hoof from the keeper.... that's pissing me off!!! that goal started with one
sidwell cant head to save his life
what did Jol say at half time. Dreadful start to the 2nd, game over now. Surely, it should have been "more of the same" keep up the good work, closing down, don't give them space. What did Fulham do....the opposite. Concede ground, drop off.
we look like we've played 90mins already
Stockdale gifted them the goal
can we borrow Schwarzer
Taarabt late equalizer... I can smell it!
I think we are now seeing why several managers have loaned out Stockdale. Good shot stopper but really is not up to the standard. He has made a lot of mistakes this season, luckily many went unpunished. Hope he doesn't let that worry him today.
Not too unhappy so far. Playing well, Amorebieta is a beast at the back and we're down due to a slightly lucky goal (yes stockdale should have done better)
For fck's sake, don't wait until 83rd minute to make subs.
back to the usual now it seems
Quote from: LordNelson on September 21, 2013, 06:47:50 PM

63rd minute and Taarabt is on.
Looks like taarabts coming on hopefully for kaka, he's been useless letting ivanovic run up and down the line all game
Yes. Ineffective duff off. Now need to take of ineffective Kaca.
If palace win at home tomorrow.......Fulham in the bottom 3. Relegation battle starts now I guess.
hmmm duffers off...thought would be Kaca but glad to have Taarabt on
Rodallega for Kaca. Put Taarabt out wide, 2 up top.
1 issue I have with Parker, when he has the ball and we have a player near him in space rather than pass to that player he runs towards him, plugs the hole THEN looks to pass to the player once the hole is plugged and more often than not we lose possession
This is painful to watch now. Once again, the useless JOL has absolutely no plan B. He is clueless, absolutely clueless.
Again, Fulham players don't look fit enough. Sorry to be negative but this has 3-0 written all over it.
I have to admit I like the 2 subs he has made....
Wrong tactics. Right substitutions.
Ramires ffs. Commentators trying their best to convince themselves there was contact.
that was a penalty
Parker & the Venezuelan Spaniard earning their wages today!!
man of the match: Ivanovic
Not enough men in the box. Need Rodallega for Kasami.
Why do we keep passing back to the back 4???
Even when we have just cleared it, the ball gets passed back.
It's hard to justify our continued toothlessness upfront given we are blessed for attacking players. Has to be put down to poor coaching.
You have to blame Jol. Playing with 1 up front doesn't work. Rodallega has to come on.
We've not got the hang of counter attacks have we? Not that milling the ball on the half way round counts as an attack.
What we NEED in January, is a genuine #9. One that will stay in the box for the whole 90 minutes and give us an aerial threat.
Well saved by Stockdale
Groan
Son of a beeyatch
well you give away 13 corners...one is gunna go in.
We gives Mikel his first goal i....how many games?!
everytime we defend a corner its a heart in mouth moment... same last season. if it gets passed the front post were struggling!!
Oh and the player that has gone 250 games without scoring pops his cherry courtesy against Fulham and a shyster set piece
loving shambles of a game. We're getting relegated if we keep playing like this. Totally pedestrian and brainless against a poor looking Chelsea.
Jol OUT NOW!!!!!
What on earth is going on? Why is Kasami marking Terry and not Hangeland or Amorebieta? Same with Cahill. Their centre backs are the best headers in their team.

nope we need adecent cm. said ages ago we wont win a game playing parker and sidwell in midfield and i still firmly believe that. you can not play with 2 defensive midfielders when you have average players in front of them. jol needs to change tactics or our lack of goals will see us right down there
Too loving late. We all knew that substitution, how can he not. I know it's Chelsea, but Jol is at fault again.
Players are not fit enough. Can't defend corners. How many times does Jol need to be told what is wrong with Fulham and what he needs to work on.
Again, I hope to see the headline tomorrow....JOL SACKED

We have Bent, what more do you expect? He's got the first touch of a donkey but he's the best we'll get.
If you need a goal, an away win, a record broken then were the ones to call on

A half time that promised so much...what should we expect at the moment though
Clearly plan A was don't let them concede then plan B was oh no don't have one
we are knackered.
Just hanging on to keep it 2-0.
Gutted after feeling so positive in the first half
After Stockdales horrible fumble it totally deflated us. Everyone was putting in a shift. We looked so much better without Berba & Ruiz. We do seem to tire late in the game.
I am not worried like some knee jerkers. In our 1st 5 games we have had 2 difficult games in the NE & played Arsenal & todays lot.
Jols fault. No one else's.
how are we so bloody unfit?????
we are OLD
Calm down guys, this is chelsea away...who expected anything more than a 2-0 loss? I think we have seen some good signs today and if we play more attacking football against Cardiff we should ultimately get us the result we need to lift us a bit. We played well against west brom and now (for the most part) against chelsea away. Its only a matter of time before these results turn into points!

Again "kneejerkers" we have been bad for well over a year must say I agree with you that I didn't expect anything today
Fulham and Sunderland must be relegation favourites
I feel that bringing in a good coach is the only thing that will save Marty, he simply lacks the tactical know how to improve the team offensively.
I think realistically he has three games to save his job and I for one have no sympathy. Not any more.

Thats all he ever has to say, unfortunately. It's not like Hangerland is not fit to play in Premiership, that he cannot pass the salt at the dinner table, let alone a good ball.
For me its fitness simple as. On 75 minutes it looked like most of the team were done for the night. When that goes the deck of cards just crumbles. You can point out tactics, a lack of creativity, players in the wrong places but we simply look ragged and with that goes cohesion. I suppose Mesca coming on could be the start of something.

positionally we were a million times better today than we have been for a long while.
Parker is a nightmare when he runs towards a player in space, closes the gap then passes it.
we must stop putting pressure on our self in situations like this and over playing it at the back.
we were tired as we were chasing the ball for most of the game, football is a lot easier with the ball.

True. Two problems. He looks more and more like a relic of what the game used to be. When he came here I thought he'd bring a modern continental style of football but I was so wrong, he seems to have no faith in our ability to score goals and is simply preying for a draw every game.
Happy Grandad? Happy? I want Jol out because I want the best for FFC. Other than some nice football in the first half, along with a single possibility at scoring, we were poor. Not the fault of the players, they're just doing what they're told. It's down to Jol.

positive first half but awful second.
Still only 4 attempts, 1 on target!!
I really can't believe the total negativity of some posters on here!
There were certainly some positives to take from today, we looked much more like a team playing together.
First 45 we did really well, but with goals in the second half & tiredness from the hard work in the first finished us off.
Remember this was Chelsea, huge squad of excellent players at home! What more did we expect?
Have to say I am encouraged, if we play like we did today with some heart against lesser opposition, I think we will be fine!
Positive?! 4 shots, 1 on target. Jol simply doesn't care, he has no idea what he is doing.
I've been banging on about fitness for ages now. Our physical fitness regime is obviously not good. We need improvement in that area.

you sound like mark hughes did last season.pretty sure he was saying that after every game. we are the lesser oposition to around 16 teams this season
I doubt we are anymore unfit than the average PL team but when you play like we do, with little confidence it drains you physically and mentally.

Disappointing to lose after a good first half performance. Unlike most others I am going to highlight the positives. Good to see Richardson play 90 mins and play well. Amorebieta was quality. Sidders and Parker are forming a solid partnership.
Bottom 3, where we deserve to be. We will lose to Everton, provide no fight against Cardiff, and be well and truly fucked.

doubt we will get anything in the next three games, perhaps a draw out of cardiff if i'm being realistic.
Playing like that we've got absolutely no chance of getting 3 points against Everton midweek.
I don't care how good Chelsea are - we could be playing a league 2 side and would still lose if we only had 4 attempts on goal. Oh hang on, we only just managed to beat a league 2 side in penalties.

He will probably escape any retribution on here but he should really be the fulcrum or boss of the defence for set plays like corners or free kicks into the box and those days seem to be few and far between over the last season and up to now. Out jumped by miles and facing the wrong way last week and a bit like Bambi on ice at times today. We have had this debate before but in that position we really need a sleeves rolled up leader. Parker seems to be becoming more and more insular and although he is a far better option than the disappointment that is Boateng his strengths are as a leader but he, like Hangers, doesn't even raise his voice these days.

If you think the football has been acceptable over the past 12 months, then I'm afraid you are the one in denial.

there are 2 defenders in the prem that when they get the ball I think they are going to fall over - Lescott and Hangeland.
I almost close my eyes when Hangeland gets the ball at his feet, he has a very awkward style
Parker seems to be becoming more and more insular and although he is a far better option than the disappointment that is Boateng his strengths are as a leader but he, like Hangers, doesn't even raise his voice these days.
why is boateng a dissapointment? looks better at getting the ball forward than parker does to me
blimey missed a whole sentence there. comes from typing on my lap I suppose. The Parker leader Boateng as partnership evolved with not has which disappointing is. there simple.

Boateng was one of the best players in the pre-season. Of course, now he has to win his place - Parker is irreplaceable, so he fights with Sidwell for a place in the team. Next time Sidwell misses 3 matches for a red card, it will be interesting to see Parker+Boateng.
