Title: Jol very relaxed
Post by: Fulham76 on October 29, 2013, 11:16:56 PM
Just saw his post match interview & he looked & sounded very calm, lots of smiling. He says there are 7-8 managers in the league in a worse position than him. So he doesn't appear worried about his future at all.

Yea but of the seven to eight managers 2 have already gone and Norwich hot best by  utd tonight not a championship club.  Of the others West ham won Cardiff no one knows what is going on. Stoke only appoint hughes this year and won tonight. Villa trust Lambert with what he's doing.

I thought he sounded a bit of a dead man walking.  Its him or houghton next to go

Is that "worse position" not knowing they're gonna be sacked?

Like I said, he was seen at Wembley with Mackintosh in Khans box for the Jaguars game. It was all laughing, joking, smiles and slaps on backs. If I was none the wiser, Jol has been given the vote of confidence by Khan, Jol knows it and that is why he looks relaxed. Don't think he's going anywhere pretty soon.

It could well be that he was told that he had to beat Leicester or he was gone. So he knows his fate now. He would be relaxed then But I hope not.

Well, you've seen Goodfellas right? One moment, you're drinking, laughing, slapping each other on the back, all like you're best friends forever.......and then....."bam!!", they whack you.

He's probably pleased we didn't have to play another half hour seeing we got Man U saturday, plus pleased we are out of the cup as we need to concentrate on the Prem and not getting relegated.

I'm sure he's not really relaxed, but he needs to show a calm, positive exterior

Though, I suppose he is philosophical about things. He knows he will be sacked sooner or later if he can't turn  it round and get results. Khan won't  just let us passively go down.

Well Tigana got to the last third of the season I think, and even Sanchez lasted until Christmas didn't he?

That's the standard excuse for a cup defeat but I don't think it really holds water.

Jol will not get sacked he will be here until the end of the season, we won't get relegated but we don't look like finishing in the top 10 which is what Khan wants & will be the key to Jol being kept on or replaced

I think we will get a different manager after Jol's contract runs out, I personally don't think he will last this season but he could turn it around and that is what i would prefer

I'm amazed that there are still a few posters who think he could turn it around. There is a miniscule amount of evidence to cling to such a notion, almost nothing.
It's just hope, desire, preference. It's not rational.

This will be his last season i hope. Just a case of when he goes, between now and May.

Turn around what exactly? We're not playing like Brazil because we are not Brazil, we are Fulham and our form reflects that. Are we in the bottom three? No, so I don't get where all this panic is coming from. I am simply astounded at the lack of support Jol is being given by the older and supposedly wiser heads who should know we cannot push for a top ten finish in an extremely competitive league spending what we are spending. Obviously we'll have some sticky spells with the team we've got and the manager can do very little about it.

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure Jol wants to win. He'd much rather go on a great cup run & perform well in the league with the fans behind him. He doesn't want to be questioned about his job at every opportunity, after every poor performance. But, he's old fashioned, his tactics out-dated & he never seems to have a plan B. More of a worry is he's stubborn & won't change his ways because he's arrogant enough to think he's right & everybody else is wrong.
I do think he'll lose his job this season but will it be too late when the board finally realise he's no longer the right man for the job?

He has good enough players though. The majority are very experienced in the premier league. The problem is Jol's tactics. I didn't go last night so I'm excluding that game but if you add up all the goal attempts we had at Sunderland, Newcastle, Chelsea & Southampton, it's less than 10. Even less if you count those on target. Cardiff came to our place & had 24 & rightly won the game. Sunderland & Newcastle had over 15 each attempts at our goal. Chelsea & Southampton had over 20. You can't allow teams to come at us like we do, (particularly with the way we're defending) & only create 1 or 2 chances per game & expect to win games. That's all down to Jol's tactics.

We have a team largely of old, past it players, they are simply not as good as we think they are.  A few exceptions to that perhaps, but Bent, Sidwell, Parker, et al, are not up to the pace of the modern game although they try their hardest.  Perhaps Jol thinks they are better than they are too.

Didn't see the game last night but listened to GJ.  Two (perhaps three) defensive errors aside it sounded like we tried and played with gusto.  Which I find encouraging.

I'm sorry to disagree, good sir, but if he is in charge through the end of the season, we're going to be relegated for certain.

HD, not a lot is certain in this world, except death, perhaps taxes and definitely that you and I will see eye to eye at least once a season (even if you're always right) ..  :005:

Very apt handle Mr Okaka, you're just Jol's type of signing.
Suggest you look forward rather than back. With the upcoming fixtures were looking at between 13 and 19 Pts come the half way point. That speaks to relegation. Please also remember that we've beaten the worst 2 teams in the league to date and had a very lucky win against a bottom 5 cert. over and above this the paucity of our playing performances in so so many fundamental respects is staggering. Don't even get me started on Jol's own visible and oral contributions.  For those that say hey what's the issue we are 14th and 1 point of the top half then, with the greatest respect, I think that is rank ignorance of the highest order.
