In a boost to Fulham's chances in the Europa League final on Wednesday, it has been revealed that the Atlético Madrid goalkeeper Sergio Asenjo will miss the match because of a knee injury.

Asenjo was hurt during Saturday's game against Racing Santander and Atlético said on their website on Sunday that the goalkeeper is set to have knee surgery.

Asenjo, who has been the team's second-choice goalkeeper for much of the season after David de Gea, will almost certainly miss the Copa del Rey final against Sevilla on 19 May as well.
