With the Germany game a day away, I thought I'd raise the topic of who would be in your England squad for the World Cup, I believe it's 23 players required.
Obviously, if you're not English, just do it with your country, unless you're French...
Goalkeepers:
Joe Hart, Fraser Forster, Alex McCarthy.
Defenders:
Glen Johnson, Nathaniel Clyne, Michael Dawson, Gary Cahill, Phil Jagielka, Steven Caulker, Ashley Cole, Leighton Baines.
Midfielders:
Andros Townsend, Theo Walcott, Steven Gerrard, Jordan Henderson, Michael Carrick, Tom Huddlestone, Ross Barkley, Jack Wilshere.
Forwards:
Wayne Rooney, Daniel Sturridge, Danny Welbeck, Rickie Lambert.
I do have outsiders/ones to watch for the squad:
- Adam Lallana
- Andy Carroll
- James Ward-Prowse
- Luke Shaw
- Wilfried Zaha, if as expected he leaves United on loan
- Mark Noble
- Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
- Ravel Morison
- Saido Berahino
A lot can change between now and the end of the season, but right now I'd go with:
Goalkeepers:
Hart, Forster, Ruddy
Defenders:
Johnson, Walker, Cahill, Jagielka, Dawson, Jones, Baines, Cole
Midfielders:
Townsend, Walcott, Gerrard, Carrick, Wilshere, Barkley, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Lallana
Forwards:
Rooney, Sturridge, Welbeck, Lambert
Possibles:
Shaw, Caulker, Huddlestone, Henderson, Morrison, Berahino
Players like Sterling, Zaha & Defoe need more game time to be considered. Smalling doesn't convince me, hence why he's not included.
Are there any U21 tournaments this summer?
Where on earth is Lampard?! Hes one of the first names on the squadsheet -_-

Lampard's passing ability is extremely limited, as is his tackling. All he would provide for England is a penalty. I'd rather have Carrick, Huddlestone, Henderson and Wilshere, who are all very good on the ball, and would all be better foils for Steven Gerrard than Lampard.
Who cares !!!!!
I gave up on England years ago
So much hype and expectation
give me premier league anytime
Just no Cleverley please.
As a Yank, I'd say I'd be happy for us to face Germany with the same XI we used last time we saw them. We beat them then, so why change?
Even though I'm Welsh, I'll try and put an England squad together
GK - Hart, Forster, Ruddy (however, if Stekelenburg gets injured and Stockdale does a good job, I can see him sneaking in)
DEF - Walker, Smalling, Cahill, Jagielka, Caulker, Cole, Baines
MID - Gerrard, Wilshere, Jones, Carrick, Townsend, Milner, Cleverley, Walcott, Young (Jones goes in as a utility player as he can play in numerous positions)
FOR - Rooney, Sturridge, Welbeck, Lambert (although if Carroll gets back from injury and is on form, I can see him taking Lambert's spot)
Not a squad but here is Joseph Barton's starting XI, as taken from BBC live text for tonight's international night:
Joey Barton - Footballer
"My starting 11 for WC would be, Hart, Walker, Jones, Cahill, Shaw, Wilshere, Ward-Prowse, Townsend, Welbeck, Rooney, Sturridge."
Surprised he didn't put himself in there.
Too soon to be dropping Shaw and Ward-Prowse into a major tournament without a full cap.
Ward-Prowse fp.gif
Gonna be a superb player but the Euro's should be his starting tournament
My starting XI would be:
Hart
Johnson Jones Smalling Baines
Wilshere Gerrard
Townsend Rooney Welbeck (I really didn't want to pick him but there's just no one else)
Lambert
No Filth or tainted Filth...
GK Joe Hart, Ben Foster, David Stockdale.
DEF Kyle Walker, Phil Jagielka, Leighton Baines, Michael Dawson, Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, Steven Caulker.
MID Steven Gerrard, Ross Barkley, Andros Townsend, Adam Lallana, Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Jack Wilshere, Michael Carrick.
FOR Wayne Rooney, Rickie Lambert, Danny Welbeck, Jermain Defoe, Wilfried Zaha.
