Title: Effect of national team play on club play
Post by: Forever Fulham on November 20, 2013, 11:13:47 PM
Has anyone ever done a study on the effects, if any, of these international  breaks on the players' performances when they return to club duties?  For instance, are Kasami and Senderos likely to come back invigorated, re-charged, with a renewed sense of purpose and determination?  And if so, why?  If English isn't your first language, and you get to play with old chums of the same nationality, all speaking the same language, sharing jokes and stories and whatnot, is there a residual spill-over upon returing to your out-of-country club team?  Just wondering about that.  Fulham doing so poorly right now.  Perhaps the change of scenery will restart their batteries, and they'll try a little harder in the short run, maybe be more receptive to whatever Rene has lined up for them upon returning.  Thoughts?

I believe a certain amount of 'tapping up', either official or unofficial, occurs on these occasions.
