Title: SATURDAY AFTERNOON FOOTIE THREAD
Post by: Burt on December 07, 2013, 03:04:37 PM
With Man U losing at home to the Toon, what do the other matches this afternoon have in store?

All underway now, apart from Sunderland v Spuds which is a 5.30pm KO.

All goaless so far...

Interesting to see that fresh from getting 3 red cards in their mid-week match, Blackpool had another two  players sent off in their match earlier today against Derby...

Palace 1 up - Jerome scored.

Considering we win tomorrow that is, Palace beating Cardiff is possibly the best result we can hope for. If you look at the table and IF we beat Villa with results going for us, that drags another 5 teams into the mix. This really is in our hands now.

We want Palace and Cardiff to draw. Stoke are in big trouble too

Less than 3 points tomorrow and we'll be majorly adrift by Christmas. Fantastic.

Looking bleak. May have got rid after Jol after 12 games by it may have been a few too late. Everton away and City at home that's another 2 games without a point.

Prefer that to a Cardiff win though. That would have widened the gap with the rest.

True, but an equaliser would have been nicer.

A draw would still mean Palace go above us, but it would take Cardiff 5 points rather than 4 ahead of us.

Shame we have to have these sorts of discussions... I was hoping that this season it would be more around how we can close the gap on the top 6, rather than how we can get out of the bottom 3.

C'est la vie...

Terry has wiped out Jon Walters & not even a free kick given & Walters booked while Terry laughed at him. Top 4 bias.

Amen to that.

To be fair, five or four points above us is irrelevant with our goal difference - both are two wins for us to go above them.

Whatever happens, happens, it doesn't change how important tomorrow is....  049:gif

You are right Matt. To a large degree it is irrelevant, we just need to start picking up points regardless of what is going on around us.

A change in fortunes is LONG OVERDUE.

We will CONTINUE with the fight and spirit we showed on Wednesday night.

We will WIN tomorrow.

Well like a hot knife thru butter we have been cut adrift. We could win tomorrow and still be in 19th behind Palace.

We really need all 3 points and I'd think/hope we'll be up for it. Every game is a cup tie it feels like almost with the miserable position we are in.

Then Everton away and Man city to look forward to which will be nice. Haven't won in the league at Everton since before the war (choose which one, I can't remember).

Oddly I'm confident about Everton away. More so than I am tomorrow.

It just seems right that new media darlings Everton will get complacent and come unstuck against us.

We waited too long to change things and deserve to be where we are. The club and the last manager destroyed all the good work that was done.

Saying that we have time and a huge struggle. But while it is possible we have hope. Something we haven't had for well over a year.

If we can win by three clear goals tomorrow we can soar to the top of the relegation places.

Villa on a roll and massively dangerous on the break, it will just as difficult as Wednesday.

Don't feel sorry for Sunderland Tel we desperately need 3 teams below us

You know when I feel down I think of my favourite things.

Tins of Roses and plenty of mince pies
Ignoring the football and all of Jols big lies
Brown baking potatoes with cheese melted in
These are a few of my favourite things.
