Just wondering about the ads shown on FOF. Are they different here in the States than they are across the pond? I hardly think some of these ads are written for an English audience.
I'm guessing, as I don't really know, but I think the ads will be "targeted" depending on your internet use/habits as I've noticed that since I visited a couple of different sites, a t-shirt site and Cornwall Holidays, these ads have come up, as well as ads for Fulham FC! far more often than anything else
...that explains the viagra and penis enlarger adverts I keep seeing..
I surprised at that LB ; - ) Not sure why I used to get the Asian girlfriend ads as I've never surfed for women!!
Thanks for the replies.
Mrs. B, does Mr. B use the computer?
LB, why am I not surprised? LOL
No he has his own laptop and computer, never uses mine as vista and 8 years old
I get the Asian dating stuff as well Mrs B. I know for a fact that I have not been on any of these sorts of site, and nobody else uses my laptop!
The ads are indeed targeted. You'll notice that you will most likely get adds pop up in connection with things that you've been looking at. If you're from the US, then the ads will be in a US format, and if you're from the UK, a UK format and so on. Every now and then, you will get ads appear with what I class as 'randoms' Asian dating, normal dating.
If Asian dating is advertised, shouldn't there be an accompanying ad for Singapore Airlines or JAL? Or is the date via Skype? Just wondering. :022:

it will depend on if those companies have advertised with google, or whoever generates the add, for instance a marketing company could buy the space and then you'd get far more "random" adds than if the company bought the ad directly?
I keep getting norwegian commercials :-P
It's called personalized retargeting. Learn more here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Personalized_retargeting (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Personalized_retargeting)
Now I can put up with ads for garden sheds, I can even put up with ads for Thai girlfriends. I can not, however, put up with today's ad uring me to pre-order the new home shirt - for Chelsea. There are limits.
Should you see this ad, there is a small X in the top right hand corner. Clicking it will give you the opportunity to say why you don't want to see this ad any more. Take your pick from 'Spam' or 'Inappropriate'.
