Title: RUIZ leaving...lol
Post by: fulhams_finest on January 10, 2014, 04:45:53 PM
sorry if I missed this in another post. Rene's match preview:
(http://www.fulhamfc.com/news/2014/january/10/renes-sunderland-preview?utm_source=Social&utm_medium=AllSocial&utm_campaign=TB (http://www.fulhamfc.com/news/2014/january/10/renes-sunderland-preview?utm_source=Social&utm_medium=AllSocial&utm_campaign=TB))

"We've allowed Bryan Ruiz to talk to a number of clubs to see if anything can come out of that," he stated. "Don't get me wrong, he's a very good player. I've come in, I've looked at the squad, I've worked with these players.

"I've picked my teams on what I think are the right reasons and motivations and I can also understand Bryan's. He's a good player, he's got a World Cup coming up and he obviously needs to play.""

LOLOL STEVE MARLET IN DISGUISE!

NOT Steve Marlet...... A very good player misused and with proper coaching could have been great for us.

If he moves to Spain, Im willing to bet he flourishes.

I really like Ruiz as a player, and if he does well somewhere on loan and has a good world cup, maybe he can be used properly next season by us when Berbatov is no longer with us.

Completely misused. Shame on Jol

I still think that whilst he was indeed mis-used under the prior regime that there has got to be a role for him in RM's regime, given the play is more creative, attack-minded, etc. etc. and would play to his strengths.

We really haven't seen the best of him.

He doesn't carry the strength for the Premiership, it's been proven time and time again. He may have the skill, but what ever position you play him in, he's to easily mugged off the ball and jumps out of tackles. Yes, if we was in the top 10 he's be an ideal play maker, but also a big liability when your in a relegation scrap. This is how I think Rene' has seen things.

Why do so many people on here think he's a great player & that it's everyone else's fault he hasn't performed at Fulham?

I've watched him so many times now, live & on TV & he's simply not good enough. Just a handful of games, (1 handful that is), has he come close to impressing me.

He's very light weight, physically nowhere near strong enough for the premier league. He doesn't have the ability to take people on. His decision making is poor & he very rarely scores.

And he has been played in a few different positions, so this argument about him not performing because he's out of position doesn't wash with me & I personally think he's been a bigger flop than Marlet, by quite some way.

I like the idea of Bryan Ruiz, I can see exactly why a manager would want a player like him and how he can be used effectively.

He just couldn't hack it in the Premier League. Needs to toughen himself up if he ever wants to make a name for himself here when he comes back

At least by allowing the market to decide, we'll find out his real value.....

I dont think it is everyone elses fault for him not doing well here. Always lightweight, that could be improved by bulking up, though you could argue he has been here long enough to do that. Bryan strikes me as someone who really needs to be coached and encouraged, and lets face it, I bet his confidence is shot from the Jol regieme.

RM probably is focused on nothing but survival this year and there is no room for a player such as Ruiz, maybe playing time in another league will boost his confidence. The last year Dempsey was with us, he and Ruiz seemed to be telopathically linked, so I wholey believe in the players around you either break you or make you as well.

Ruiz is like Senderos, a house divided amongst the support.

I don't think that Ruiz leaving is anything to celebrate at all. He cost the club a lot of money and hasn't been a success - yet he's an extremely skilful player. I'd have liked to have seen him succeed at Fulham and hope I still do but I realise why he has to leave to prepare for the WC. I can't see him doing that with us when his confidence is shot and his performance is always so much in the spotlight.

Ideally, I'd like to see him come back a stronger player - if not, to be a success elsewhere and at least recover a good proportion of his fee.

Good luck Bryan.

If he bulked up, he could be an excellent PL player but he just hasn't been at the races lately. He was awful at Hull.

An incredibly skilful footballer who unfortunately wasn't able to fully integrate into Fulham/the epl.

He showed all to fleeting glimpses of his talent that were not enough to cement his place as what he should have been, a Fulham legend.

Imo he is just too lightweight to survive in the epl. Too many misplaced passes. He was found out very soon by the big bruising defenders that reside in the teams around us.

Seems like a nice bloke and wish him well, just sorry that he couldn't find his way here.

The last time I saw him play well was away at Reading, when he came on and changed the game. But that was a long time ago, and it was obvious at Hull his heart wasn't in it any more. Best for him and us that he moves on.

Agree 100%, seems nice and the encouragement of the Costa Rica tour should have allowed him to kick on but he has been shown to be just not up to rigors of Prem, Hull was his embarrassing finale in  Fulham shirt and sadly fitting.

Nice lad, good touch shows "flashes" of brilliance once every 8 or 10 games while spending the rest of his time on the pitch looking sad and out of his depth.

This isn't the league and we aren't the team for him, this will never change.  I wish him all the best, but I'm as glad as he is that he's never going to wear white again.

People are saying "When he comes back", "If he bulks up". I'd like to remind people that he's 29 in August, he's gone through puberty, and is in the prime of his career. If he ain't cutting it now, he never will, and if he goes out on loan, he won't be coming back.

Good post as was Holders...summed situation up for me...however can't get the memory out of my head  of the way he skinned Ashley Cole to line up Clint at the bridge.....nice that was...coyw

I think are bodies are not fully formed until we are thirty something. I had to inspect skeletons in the summer and work out their age at DOD, bone formation and fusion was one of the methods we used.

Ruis therefore still has time

And it isn't his lack of bulk that is the problem, it's his lack of heart and fight.

Never a Steve Marlet. Has a bright career ahead of him, i'm sure he will find success wherever he goes, he is definitely a gifted player. Just got him at an unfortunate time with a poor manager who didn't know how to get the best out of him and destroyed his confidence

I don't get this.  Jol being hammered for managing Ruiz poorly?
He did everything that could possibly have been done to make that transfer work!  I would say Ruiz was actually the tipping point that cost him his job.
It's all been said above.  Ruiz lacks pace, strength, stamina, heart, guts - even control.  No player with the skills his apologists claim he has should have been Robin Hooded of the ball as many times as he was.
He looks like A genuinely nice person.  But that's no reason to mourn his passing.  Otherwise, we'd be saying Berserker should be our No 10.

I have nothing against the chap whatsoever, but we keep getting these comments "he was played out of position", he is a highly paid professional footballer with a certain amount of talent and skill, so in my opinion should have been able to adapt to certain positions, and if these comments are correct then why does RM not play him in his "correct position", i think because whatever position he plays in he is just not good enough.

purely an opinion from me.

I can see him setting the world alight at the world cup!!realistically will we hold on to him until then and flog him off if his performances are good??or if he has a good world cup will we hold on to him??

The best thing for us would be for him to have a good World Cup, then we can flog him for less of a loss. He's never going to cut it in the premier league

He should have been a great fit for a team like ours but he doesn't have the heart to make it at the top level

If all the conditions are in his favor he looks a class act, but how often does a team sit back, not close you down and allow you time on the ball in the PL?
In those conditions even I could look decent, so lets not kid ourselves he's had his chance and its time to go.

Sad to say, but most of us would have loved to have a player like him do well for us, even with a few faults, but he has not delivered.

The fact that a player like Ruiz can excell in the dutch league but fail in the Premiership shows just how tough the prem is.
