Title: Berbatov to see out the season at Fulham
Post by: JackyFulham90 on January 22, 2014, 08:23:37 PM
See quite a few articles on twitter with quotes from his agent saying he is very happy at Fulham & will stay until the summer then decide where he wants to play his football in the summer. Good or bad news??

Good news, if anything, it will help attract players if they know Berbatov wants to stay.

If true, best news this year for me - my favourite player stays at my favourite club.   :yay:

Is there a source/link to some news website?

How can people say he is a poison to the team when I have seen most of our players being quoted asking him to stay? Surely this can be a good thing, especially if we're going to bring in players like Defour/Morrison for him to link up with.

Where have you seen this quotes? I haven't and that is not the feeling you get watching the interaction both at the start of games , during and after., soon as he goes the better this club will be , mark my words.

Really can't make my mind up, not sure that he is the type of player for a relegation dog fight but then can't think of the right type of player who we can afford and who would be prepared to come and join us.

If only there was another McBride about.

why does it mean we are relegated? IMO if this news is true then it's excellent news. Your comment though is ridiculous !
We could say the same about any player that sees the season out!
In fact if we let Berbs go, get in all the names that have been linked - we could still go down! In your opinion would that still be Berbas fault?

Bad. Perhaps his agent realises that other clubs are not exactly falling over themselves to sign his client.

Obviously no tasty offers for him...whilst contrary to those non armchair fans(Can't make it every week) but am pleased...might just make the difference over the remainder of season....Q the negatives.

Can you really believe that players are allowed to make individual statements to the press willy nilly? I can assure you they cannot, The club have a very tight policy on players making comments and all must come through the press office who write most of the garbage we read in the program and the web site that is attributed to player x and y, got that from a mate who used to edit the program

Rene is probably one of the best coaches in the world and he plays Berba every match + does everything in his power to make him stay. With this in mind, discussing whether Berba is poison or not seems a bit pointless to me...

...in Berbatov we have a striker who not so much strikes, but most of the time appears to be on strike. Countless wonderful touches are not leading to goals...

This is great news! If we get Defour and/or Morrison then he will get better service and will score. The guy is pure class so can't believe people would rather see him go. He gets frustrated with some of our play but to me that shows you he cares in a professional sense.

Although I'm happy to see him stay, he's not been firing on all cylinders this season and his 15 goals from last, would be a big help. I just hope he start to fire again or..  :022:

Berba has done nothing but stand off side and miss good chances. He is great at control in non threatening areas. Don't mind that he stays but he is filling up a space where we need a grafter up front.

His goal production this season is so far down from last year that if he wants to leave and play elsewhere, he has to make himself more marketable, more valuable, than he appears now.  And the only way to do that is to produce before he leaves.  Fulham would benefit from the extra effort he'd expend to produce between now and when he leaves to make him more attractive to a purchasing club.  Tottenham doesn't have a lock on a Europa spot next season.  And Levy doesn't splash the cash.  So, maybe a wait-and-see approach is best for him and will work out best for Fulham's drive to the finish line.

Berba is our best player. He holds the ball up so well espesially away from home like at the weekend. Needs to score more goals for sure but im sticking by him. Go berba 7

You asked for quotes, I gather, because you didn't believe they existed. Then, when quotes are shown to exist and they don't support your belief that Berba is some sort of locker room cancer, you say quotes aren't to be trusted. Interesting approach to debate. Not very effective, but interesting.

Fulham aren't driving up Berba's value by sticking Kaca and Sidwell out to the media to say he should stay. So what other purpose is there for the quotes other than they want him to stay and help the team???

I'll trust the quotes over your interpretation of body language with just the slightest bit of context.

Unless I've missed something, neither article contains any quote which indicates that Berbatov has opted to remain with us - certainly not from his agent. The fact that Sidwell and Kacaniklic are both issuing pleas for him to stay implies the very opposite: that he may indeed leave.

This having said, I think that the likelihood of Berbatov going elsewhere is slim. (Not that he wouldn't jump at the opportunity, however.) He did his chances of a move to Arsenal no favours whatsoever with his second-half performance at The Emirates last weekend; if Wenger hasn't scrubbed his name off any list of possible purchases after that, I shall be very surprised.

This appears to leave only Spurs as a possible destination. Yet it seems that Sherwood (no mug) is less-than-enthralled at the prospect.

I read a while back that West Ham might be keen. In my view, Berbatov should sign for The Irons. He could then turn in the same totally underwhelming performances for them that we've witnessed for the vast majority of this season.

Now this would improve our chances of staying up.

To make it a trio of votes from Brighton and Hove, good. But I can't wait much longer for him to earn his £70k a week and start scoring.
