Title: Barca include Anti Racism Clause in Villa's contract...
Post by: Tktd on May 22, 2010, 12:58:54 AM

First time one has ever been put into a players contract.

Joan Laporta has revealed that David Villa's contract is the first to include and anti-racism clause. "It is the first time that a contract has been signed with an anti-racism clause included as introduced by the European Club Association," he explained. "From now on we will include it in all new contracts." The text in the deal states 'The player will not express or carry out, in any form, discriminatory ideas or acts, either during football games or in any club duties. The club will strongly condemn any discriminatory or racist act according to the agreement'.

Not sure what the punishments are if he carries out any racist act but seems like a solid step and a good message to send out to people.  They always do seem to make sure they give off the right image, which as a club the size they are can only be lauded.

Many players may be racist, but most wouldn't be stupid enough to show it. And of course they'd sign the contract. But can you seriously imagine barca sacking Messi if he said something racist. Crock of sh1t, and politics should stay out of football.

This will be as effective as the "Respect" campaign and John Terry

I cant see Villa putting a foot out of place anyway, looks a model professional by all accounts, never said a bad word about Valencia while others jumped ship, 108 goals in 164 league games implies you spend less time being a Terry style troglodyte and more time on the park scoring goals.

On another note, Barcelona are starting to scare me with this uber galactico squad of theirs!
