Title: Championship TV options?
Post by: JIMMY D on March 10, 2014, 04:56:33 AM
Do any championship club provide live streams for there fans?? Because this could be the last 9 games live I will see of Fulham. Would the club provide this service if people were willing to pay a subscription.

I wouldn't panic too much. If we do well we will be on Sky every week at 12.45, same as the Haha's have been. Plus we have become a circus so we should make interesting viewing. If we don't do so well, you won't be missing much.

I'll ask our under performing players taking us into the Championship - they should know!

I doubt it. I think that would be classed as keeping the fans updated, something we don't do well at all!

That's a shame :(

We may well feature as regularly on the box if we do well in the Championship and we can always stay up till the early hours of Sunday for the highlights.
But, for those of our friends who have not yet experienced life outside the PL (and there seems to be many of them), I have bad news. If you think we suffer now from poor media coverage, then not being in the PL is like dying and going to media Limbo - you just cease to exist. I can remember pre-Premier League, scouring the papers in vain for the mearest mention of FFC. And, of course, for Sky the 'greatest league in the world' is the only thing that exists.

I'd pay for FulhamTv. At least one where they show the highlights at least of every game.

I don't quite think the club get what falling out if the premier league will mean, and that any fans outside of the UK will most likely not be exposed to the club.

When we change our name to the Fulham Jaguars it will be unfortunate that we will be the only ones to witness the greatness.

Very Rarely..

Season Ticket or no show really..

Only other choice would be highlights on Football League Show.

Sucks aye?

Live streams? No. Even in England, the best we get is live commentary from Gentleman Jim or updates via Football Focus/Sky Sports News, which if you don't know, both provide RedZone type coverage (around the grounds stuff) except without the cameras...

I know clubs do run stuff like "Foxes (Leicester) Player." This costs £42 a year, though you can have monthly payments, which provides:

News and Interviews
Audio Commentary
Extended match highlights

Other than that, the chances of seeing Fulham week in, week out are close to none, unless we're moved for Sky Sports coverage, in which case you can find a Sky Sports stream.

There will be coverage, but the majority of the 46 games will be Audio Commentary/highlights for you abroad, and us that cannot afford season tickets.

Hope this helps. I'm going to university in Bournemouth in September, so I can't even pop down to the Cottage for every other game.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. Such a shame. Maybe we could write a letter to the club saying we want the club to invest in a live stream each game or every home game. Maybe Kahn will realise this is important for the club?

I could have sworn I commented on this thread. it could have been another one with the same basic subject. If it is, I provided some information on THAT thread about television/radio options in the US of A next season.

Here's my response from the other thread. It was all the way on page two!

I can only think of three times in the last 10 seasons when Gentleman Jim was not available -- and in all of those somebody kicked a cable out and nobody ever noticed. Poor old JimmyMac was rattling on to just himself.

I know it's a generational thing, but I quite enjoy the matches via GJ. Radio creates the theater of the mind. I know what the Cottage looks like, I've walked around all of it and it's permanently imprinted in my head. Jim's commentary allows me to create my own mental video. Nowadays, I think this is a lost art.

Considering TV in the states: Six or seven seasons ago, we'd be lucky to see Fulham more than 2 or 3 times a season. The same will be true in the Championship next season. beIN Sports carries the Championship, and every Friday/Monday night game plus early starts get carried over here in the states. What you WON'T see live is any match that kicks off at 1500 London on Saturday or Sunday.

The problem is that many young people don't watch football on television either -- they'd rather stream it. That's why over on fulham USA.com, the match day chatroom will feature only two or three people watching NBCSN on live TV while many others are watching the NBC site -- almost always 2 or 3 minutes behind, or constantly looking for links.

We'll survive over here. Just check your local listings.

Yeah I am going to have a problem streaming the games here in China as well... Fulham or some individual could find a small niche market and make a bit of money if they were to record and stream the games for a reasonable subscription fee. There could be hundreds of fans who would pay this sort of service..... Maybe it is something that should be looked into by some business minded people in the UK...  nudge nudge

Why doesn't the premier league offer a streaming option online for people living abroad? Or even the championship? Most American sports offer packages for as little as 99 dollars that allow you to stream every match as well as access to archives of matches earlier in the season. At least now I'm content to watch on Chinese streams with Chinese commentary for free, but those won't be available if Fulham goes down next season.

If fulham pull some money out, this could happen. We need to give them a reason why this would be beneficial for them.

I think you'll find that the broadcast rights are collectively owned and only the Football League could come to such arrangements not individual clubs.

That they don't suggests that they'd be in breach of existing TV deals.

So how do people follow a lower league team if they are out of market? They just don't get televised matches?

The do not televise 3pm kick offs because they fear it will affect attendance figures, which it will.

This is the third thread on this subject in the last three days. As they say on "Law and Order" ASKED AND ANSWERED.

People could, you know, actually read what other people post on here. Nah

There'll be another thread on this tomorrow and then again on Thursday ... .

In Norway your just allowed to watch ONE 3p.m match on the weekends..... I sent a complain to TV2 in Norway who has the rights to send PL in Norway and they said it was new rules from FA or something saying that only 1 match will be showed live, while the rest will be sent in replay when the 17 p.m match is finnished.....

But if a PL round is played in a weekday, they are allowed to send all matches live at once.

What a stupid rule this is!! And especially this sucks for less big team fans like us, since they LOVE to send Liverpool and ManU here in Norway..... so I PAY to see PL but just not the matches I want to -.- and therefore most of times I do have to watch crappy streams anyways.......

This club developed a huge American following when we only got to see Fulham play two or three times a season. We'll see that many Fulham matches next season most likely. I appreciate that many of the recent American converts will have a difficult time following, but I would like to point out that it was during that "two or three times a year to see your team" period, that FulhamUSA became the first official supporters club outside the UK.

I realize that many of you despair at foreigners and tourists supporting Fulham, but I'm thinking there'll be more English supporters drifting away from Fulham than Americans.

I'd shell out some cash to the club for a stream.  I already do for the MLS and NHL packages, its great.
