Title: Luis Suarez bites again!
Post by: love4ffc on June 24, 2014, 07:06:47 PM
Luis Suarez bites again!  Unbelievable.  How is this guy allowed to play at all.  He needs a lifetime ban.

I was just starting to think he was turning things around.
Hard to tell whether it was a bite or not from TV angles, so may get away with it

It was definitely a bite, you can see it from the angle. No doubt about it. He needs to get a lifetime ban from Fifa. 3 times he's done it now AND he has been done for racist comments. Ban him.

7 match ban for biting in the Eredivisie.
1 match ban for swearing at Fulham fans.
8 match ban for racism in the Prem.
10 match ban for biting in the Prem.

How long does everyone think he'll get for this? Gotta be the end of his WC, for sure.

If they won't ban that turd who plays for QPR for life, I doubt Liverpool, nor the FA will ever do anything substantial with Suarez....he seems to be beyond reproach due to his skill in the game of football. Hopefully FIFA will kick him out of the tournament at least.

Having said that, I can't for the life of me, think of a situation where I would bite someone unless I was in a scrap for my life. To me, he has some real personality issues and deserves a long and expensive "timeout" from the game.

There should be a "3 strikes" rules in football.

He should be banned for the whole of next season. That should be the end of him. If there's no ban, Liverpool should fire him for gross misconduct. THE MAN IS AN ANIMAL

It shows mental instability.  He should seek immediate help.  Can you imagine being a player on the field with him ever again?  I would want him to wear a muzzle like Hannibal.

I've already spoken to a mate who's a 'Pool fan. He's pleased it's happened as it'll put off potential suitors, so "worth losing him for a few games at the start of the season"...

The bite marks that shown off at pictures afterwards is pretty hard evidence, I hope they do something about and ban him! Noone can take away hes goalscoring abilities but when it all seemed he had turned things around, he goes and do this for a third time!! Enough is enough!

I have been working and didn't see the game.   He bit an opponent?  Did the opponent declare to the ref that Suarez bit him?  Did he produce the  bit area for examination?  If so, what did the ref do at that point?  Did he believe the opponent's story and immediately send off Suarez?  Or did he do nothing and let play continue?  I say all this because I want to give him every benefit of the doubt.  Any chance he was set up, that the marks were pre-existing or, if not pre-existing, were caused by contact other than an actual bite?  The guy has a terrible case of overbite (no pun intended).  He could have banged or collided open-mouthed into the opponent and left a mark without actually biting him or otherwise intending to bite.  (It's a long shot...haven't seen the footage...but want to give him a fair shot before we all go get our pitchforks.)

He bit Chiellini, then acted like Chiellini hit him.

Chiellini complained. No cards shown. Play went on.

Here's some footage. You decide..

He showed the ref the bitemarks, and they where VERY clear, but the ref didnt do ANYTHING about it, just saw several videos from different angles about it now on Norwegian TV2 WC studio and he gaped over hes shoulder and bit him really hard! If they let him play now I will be furious!

It doesn't look like he bit him to me.  It looks like he deliberately bull-rushed him (for lack of a more apt description), clanging his face and head into his opponent.  But I can't see where he had time or positioning to bite down.  His overbite could have come into contact with the shoulder, but biting takes a distinctive mandible motion.  The upper hinge is fixed; the jaw has to be in position to 'bite'.  I don't see how he did that in the vine.co footage (grainy as it is).  It's the attorney in me, I guess.   Once a biter, always a biter, perhaps.  But in his previous episodes, it looked more persuasive as an actual bite rather than head/face/teeth butting or colliding.

Forever Fulham - it's bad.  Go to WatchESPN and watch the game.  Lots of drama.  Not just around Suarez.  It's not evident at first as it just looks like two players colliding in the box.  The minute they show the replay though it's very evident that Suarez was in the mood for Italian.

Darn.  The BBC footage won't play here.  All I see is a static photo of Suarez nursing what appear to be loose or 'hurt' teeth.  Again, he has a very bad case of over bite.  The uppers are way out in front of the lowers, like a rabbit.  You'd think with all his money, he'd have gotten his teeth fixed.  A retainer or something.

OK.  I've seen the ESPN footage.  "In the mood for Italian."  Not that's funny!   It's the 79th minute.  Tied.  Maybe he bit and maybe he didn't.  But it is the Italians, who flop and play-act.  On the  other hand, Suarez has a history, so even if no footage appears showing clear and unmistakable biting, he's not likely to get the benefit of the doubt.  I suspect you're all correct, and he's a goner.  What a waste.  Such a tremendous talent.   Much as I hate the biting history, he is an exciting player of sublime talent.  So few with his ability.  Ah, well.  Back to work.

The ESPN feed here in the states showed Chielleni chasing the ref while pulling his collar down. There was a distinct red mark on his shoulder. Even so he acted it up as much as Suarez did. I do believe that he was bitten and I'm happy the Blue Floppers and hopefully Suarez are out of the competition.

It was a bite. The side angle of the incident clearly proves it. Fair play to the Italian for not lumping Suarez. If Suarez had bitten me I would've swung for him. The bloke is an absolute animal. A very very long ban should be coming his way from FIFA any day now, if there's any justice that is. 3 times now he's done this.

As always Mrs B it takes we women to make a proper analysis.
I used to teach kids who bit other kids when they were frustrated or angry. 99% of them grew out of it very quickly through 'learned behaviour' ...socialisation. He needs a huge amount of MH support to get rid of this repetitive behaviour. You can see he was mortified at the end of the game. He reacts without any thought at all.....some would describe it as an instinct. It is rare, thankfully, but real.
Let's hope FIFA, and Liverpool ban him for a long time, so that he can receive proper treatment this time. He is no role model for young boys and girls.

Isn't this the whole point though?  He's clearly doing it in the hope someone will react and he'll get them sent off (and in tonight's case a pen as well).  Typical South American cynicism.  Cannot wait until someone overseas buys him and we won't have to hear about his histrionics.

Do you not think that he had the best available treatment provided by Liverpool since  April 2013 ???
As for children,  it is true that all of them will  try it at some stage. It is more acceptable if they do it in the 1st year or two.  The ones that do it at school are considered monsters.

Suarez  is not a child he is,  by virtue in his 'job',  a role model ......................... third time he has done this,  get him out ..........................of Liverpool and this country.

Read today FIFA is investigating and that Suarez in worst case will get a 2 year ban, according to FIFA rules, I personally hopes he gets 2 years, this is the third time and allso a psychologist in sports told BBC in a interview last year that its in hes nature to behave like this in stressed situations or provoked situations, with proffesional help it can  be "treated" but at some time theres a big risk it can happen again, I would bet 5 years he said last year, cant remembers hes name but I read the article about an hour ago. And he was right it happened again, just a little over a year since last time......

He needs help what if he had bit hard enough to puncture the skin, many people dont know that a human bite is actually the worst and most dangerous bite that can inflict on a human being!

the best angle and a clear proof of hes actions.

I read on Norwegian media with comments enabled that many thinks that Chiellini (however its spelled) should have been given a red card long before this and that it is a reaction from Suarez caused by him........

Whatever the situation may be, you NEVER EVER bite a person, you can see headbutts, kick, punches, but to bite is just wrong, and must be a mental instability caused when angered etc and must be treated. But he cant be treated for something he wont admit is a problem, its like trying to treat an alcoholic  denying he is a alcoholic, it may work in short terms, but after a while the person will turn back again.

I think the same is with Suarez he denies so clearly that he bites that I think he actually believes he can get away with it..... it may work in short terms as well, but I would bet as well that it will happen again unless himself wants to get help from this.

I think a 12 month ban from all football would be appropriate and be on the basis that he gets medical  help. His return would only be allowed on the basis that it never happens again. It should be made clear that if it did his career would be over. Sad but necessary.

They all warrant a ban. It's just a question of how long. Biting a third time should be the maximum allowed under the rules.

Sorry, but I take issue when you say that he reacts without any thought.  If you watch the sequence he was not reacting, his movements were proactive.  What is more, he then threw his hands to his face and fell to the floor in an attempt to feign a facial or head injury.  He was thinking clearly enough throughout the sequence of events.

Now I am not denying he has serious behavioural and emotional problems which require help but let's not allow him even partial excuses for his actions when they are not deserved.

You would also be taken to court for sliding in to the postman in the front garden and breaking his leg/ligaments with your studs  etc etc - I am NOT defending the horrible little git but .....

If he gets a 12 month ban, how does it stand with his work visa. Aren't these things only granted if you play so many games for the national team

reckon it should be allowed to do all of that to a traffic warden though. Nobody likes traffic wardens

He obviously has mentsl health issues if he needs to bite people when he is frustrated/annoyed. Feel sorry for his family

He's a dick. Thousands of kids look up to people like him and emulate what they see when in the playground. Throw the book at the goofy prat. As for it being 3 times now so it must be an issue that needs counseling etc, get a grip... 'Perhaps he was bitten as a kid, and cant get over the trauma'. Lets all sit on some bean bags and give him the social worker treatment. Thats exactly what we do with paedophiles in this country, .....'ah the poor lambs must be so traumatised because they keep offending, and abusing kids, lets look into their background, see where it all stems from'. No muppets, castrate them, eliminate the problem, and take out Suarez's gnashers while your at it.

True enough but tackles etc are part of the game. Injury does happen if a tackle is misplaced or mistimed. Biting isn't, so yes tackling a postman, is not part of HIS job description. For a footballer it is. Biting on any level is really not acceptable on any level in any job. Except in a restaurant and then you should only bite the food.

Even with the most reckless and violent of tackles it is extremely difficult to establish that such an act was done with the explicit intention to break bones or damage ligaments. Sinking one's teeth into somebody's arm doesn't really allow for any doubt as to intention.

If he gets a long ban he will return even more hungry to play.

I'm not convinced.  Yet.  Villify me all you want.  I detest biting.  It can transmit disease, bacteria, viruses.  I don't go into hysterical overreach that it will cause youngsters to start biting on playground pick up games.  I get the role model argument.  But I think the connection is a bridge too far.  He's arguably the world's best striker.  I keep that in mind too.  He's a marked man.  Pog never bit anyone.  Who would you rather watch play?  Pog can't score.  Don't like me using him as an example.  Then insert any number of other players up top.  Do I suspect he attempted to head butted to clear space?  Yes.   Do I suspect his buck teeth -- his middle upper teeth only -- connected with Chiellini's shoulder in the act of head butting?  Yes.  Am I convince he bit the shoulder?  Not yet.   Is it easy to assume he bit him, based on his two priors?  Yes.   It looks bad for the man.

I guess you can help OJ in his quest to find the real killer as well.

I've watched video this morning being played on sports news over here,,,,,,he intentionally bit the guy, and then he fell to the ground as though there was a headbutt (there wasn't), which was so delayed and such an obvious acting of diving after that fact...disgusting really.

The man has significant mental issues and should never be allowed to play the game professionally again.

Question. If he gets an international ban would that apply to things such as Champions or Europa League or just his national team?

I can't believe that some pundits are saying that an international ban will put his transfer value up as he will only be available for club football!Where's the justice in that?  He should get a TOTAL ban.

I don't know about the last bit.....they say the bite of a Komodo dragon, however slight, will prove fatal thanks to the cocktail of bacteria and viruses that that rather unpleasant animal carries around.

....but then again, that description also fits Suarez well too....!

Even if he receives a ban, he will probably still get to play while the (certain) appeal is being heard which will see him through the World Cup.

FIFA are above everyone so they could probably ban him from all football played under their remit for x games/months/years.

Some of the latest news lines from various news sources.

•   Fifa's disciplinary code has the scope to suspend a player for a maximum of 24 matches – which, technically, can include club games but in practice tends to be only internationals. The longest ban in World Cup history was an eight-match one on Italy's Mauro Tassotti for breaking Spain's Luis Enríque's nose in 1994 with an elbow.

•   Suárez denied he had bitten Chiellini. "These situations happen on the field," he said. "I had contact with his shoulder, chest against shoulder and I got a knock to the eye – nothing more."

•   Uruguayan FA defends Luis Suarez, claiming bite marks are photoshopped.

•   Suarez's lawyer Alejandro Balbi believes the player is a victim of a European-based campaign against him.  "We don't have any doubts that this has happened because it's Suarez and secondly because Italy was eliminated," Balbi, who is also a Uruguay FA board member, said.

•   Executives from Adidas, the sportswear company that said when he previously bit Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic and earned a 10-match ban that it would be "reminding Suárez of his responsibilities", met in Rio on Wednesday for crisis talks. The poker firm 888.com is also reviewing its contract with Suárez.

•   Malta-based online gambling site Betsson were offering up 175-1 odds that Suarez would bite for a third time in his checkered career.  The manager of the sports book, Andreas Bardun, told ESPN that 167 people bet Suarez would crave another human during the World Cup. The biggest winner took in $3,300 (roughly £1,940).
