Not sure if this has been covered before, any reasons , ground ? pitch ?
Should be friendlies ......obviously
Think it's to do with the work on the stand. Limits their building time.
Someone said it might to do with the pitch being re-laid.
They didn't want the supporters getting on the player's backs and saying how useless they are before the season starts.
Perhaps Putney bridge being shut may also have been a factor.

Can't think why it should be worn out, I don't remember us playing a lot of football on it last season 064.gif

The pitch looks like a smooth chess board with nice big squares mown into it . So why would we want anybody to spoil the look of it? Shame the season has to start at all really. This is by far the best time.
Probably because every home friendly we have had in recent years have been glamour ties against big teams. Maybe nonone wants to play us or we are too focused on function and fitness to bother .
Or in the ownerships eyes, our glamour tie was a warm up gig for Carrie Underwood

Oh thank God I thought it was just me. I thought she was a character from an American tv series.

Whats that got to do with it?
I wasn't saying that no football matches could take place untill its open again. I was saying why put undue congestion and pressure on to an the area when other options are available. Obviously there's nothing we can do about league home matches.
Help please, who or what is Carrie Underwood?

It should be good this season given the crap we left on it last year
She sings country and is a former winner of American Idol.
