Title: If Kit Stays We WILL get relegated
Post by: Ordar on February 24, 2015, 08:37:17 PM
Another game. Same mistakes. He must go tomorrow. We've been utterly terrible for months.

Surely there cant be any debate anymore. If we have any chance of surviving the change needs to happen now

We're currently in freefall under Kit with no guidance, no plan, no direction, no tactics or any real fight or leadership. We're League 1 bound with him in charge and as I see it, it's going to get much worse as the games go on. I'm sorry, but this isn't just about having a poor team now, we really don't have an adequate manager either!!

KIT OUT

Kit says "We're a team in transition." Yes, Kit, in transition to League 1.

Agreed, out of his depth! Act NOW while a new manager has 3 games where ANY points would be a bonus to start sorting things out and give us a chance of staying up. Lets hope Millwall don't win tonight.

We will stay up not due to our skill but because fortunately inthis league there are three teams worse than us.

Khan probably wonders what is going on?  Lets get Roy back!  ha

Simply no where near good enough.  Tactically naive and predictable.  Devoid of ideas.  Even if we manage survive in this league this season - and its a big IF - Kit has demonstrated that he lacks the ability and quality needed to take this team forward.

Probably the easiest team in the league to play right now. We're such a soft touch & now we can't score either!

I don't believe there is a manager out there that would be able to save this season as of now, with the team we have and the position we are in, it's not just the tactics, it's the whole thing.

You are spot on. As I have said before  ask yourself the question " if he did go would he get the top job anywhere else in the uk ? " the answer is a big No - Kit  isn't good enough it is as simple as that. He is too dogmatic and hasn't the necessary experience to be so set in his ways

I do wonder if Ian Holloway, Lee Clark and Malky McKay get as much grief on their clubs' forums as Kit Symons gets on ours. The three managers mentioned inherited poor teams that haven't improved in their tenures. I'm not as pessimistic as many on this board and fully expect us to stay in this division.

We will stay up but it will be as Robert posted. This doesn't make Kit the right manager. If he loves the club he should ask Khan to let him go back to his old job and work with a new and more experienced manager. That way we keep his real skills it gives us some element of continuity and we might then be able to create a strategy for next season.

Name them. Bearing in mind blackpool got a point at ours, Millwall went unbeaten against us with 4/6 and Brighton made us look silly at the cottage.

Edit. I'm on holiday and just seen Brighton won two in a row to go above us.  Wait wasn't hughton available? Why didn't we bring in a relegation specialist again? And I don't mean in the way kit appears to be a relegation specialist.

The bookies are offering 16/1 on relegation.

An hysterical thread even before yesterdays win.

An hysterical thread even before yesterdays win.

I don't think it was hysterical at all, and one win, albeit Derby, will still not be enough to save us from the drop, if the inevitable was to happen. As of Derby, we were 8 games without a win, in complete free fall. No direction, no sign of winning a game, and shipping goals at an alarming rate. We were, and still are, in danger of sleepwalking to another relegation if we don't keep up some type of form.

Even before yesterday I was pretty sure we'd stay up and I still do, even under Kit.

He's done pretty well; taking that his goal was to galvanise the team and keep them up. Anyone who thought he was hired to do anything else is misguided. People lie, stats don't. Khan lied.

But it will take a Martin Jol or Hughes to bring in a Dembele or Berbatov. And an owner who doesn't lack ambition. Everyone still hates them, but their arms were tied the entire time. But don't think one minute that I thought Khan authorised the board or Kit to get players needed and they just didn't have the connections. It's pretty clear Khan is cheap and saw we weren't getting promoted and the proxy was to just stay up.

And so here we are.

What doesn't make sense to me is all this talk about the Riverside development which would be meaningless unless the intention is for us to return to the PL. Then it would be necessary, otherwise not. That seems to imply that Khan intends us to push for promotion next year. The question is, what steps will be taken to that end? I'm not a "Kit-outer" but I do recognise that he won't have the pulling-power of a Tigana, Hughes or even Jol.

Freudian slip: I mis-read the title of this thread this morning and thought it said "Kit says we WILL get relegated".

I just don't think Khan will back Kit in the window as he knows Kit's just happy to be there as manager whereas a new manager would probably only join with the promise of serious investment in the squad.

ok, 2 issues, firstly for us to be relegated Millwall and Wigan will have to go on a very good run and I am not sure that will happen.  We on the other hand will need to go into meltdown and surely we saw last weekend the potential the team has to pick up more wins between now and the end of the season.

Re Kit, there are 2 issues.  Firstly, can he motivate the team well enough and does he have the tactical ability to Manage successfully at this level.   He got it right on Saturday, so you could argue he does, but then again why were the team not as motivated in previous games.

Secondly, can he recruit the correct calibre of player needed to gain promotion, now he has got Rigg to lead this side of things ?

One thing I have no doubt in is that Khan wants us back in the Premier League. He seems willing to spend money, but does not want to waste money unless the right players are available.  Anyone with any brain would think the same.

Long term I doubt Kit is our man but after Saturday will be given more time, potentially till the end of the season.  If we had lost again on Saturday, I would have said he was walklingon very thin ice.

I can't see Kit "leaving" before the end of this season - almost whatever; neither would it make any sense. After that, he's got a contract until the end of next season so Khan obviously had sufficient confidence to give him that. If we don't make a serious challenge next season then I don't think that anyone would disagree that it would be time for a change.

I am not sure that the length of contract really says Khan has confidence in Kit. The alternative would have been to give Kit a contract to the end of this season. That would have really undermined Kit's position meaning he was seen as just a caretaker manager.

That said, if we put in a sequence of performances comparable with a mid-table team then I don't see Khan taking a gamble on another manager.

If I was a betting man..which I am... I'd not put any money on Kit being in the job from the start of pre season training. Unless he wins something like seven out last ten games.

I am not a betting man but I would not be sure which way to go.

My slight nudge in favour of the status quo is that Khan seems cautious keeping with Jol, choosing Magath on his successful record, sticking with Magath longer than most on here and then using the five man committee. I am not sure that he would know how to go about getting a better manager.

Many of the managers mentioned before and after Magath and before the Derby game seem much of a muchness so unless Rigg comes in with a strong recommendation I don't know that Khan will be moved to risk a change or how he would go about it.

Unless you have some inside knowledge?

Kit will be in place until the end of the season. Fulham will stay up. Investment and a new manager ready for the promotion push. Using last years final Championship table as a very rough guide, Fulham will be fine. There are definitely at least three teams worse than Fulham.

Perhaps Mr Khan will spend £50m on new players & right the 'loan' off as a gift to avoid FFP?
