Title: 'Greenest Club.....' Independent article
Post by: mullers on April 29, 2015, 09:29:08 AM
Apologies to anyone who has already seen it, but there's a good article on Dale Vince the Forest Green Rovers owner in the independent today. This seemed relevant to us:

"[He] gave David Hockaday, the manager he inherited, time to build a team. 'We kept him four years against the wishes of the fans and the old board. He got us 10th three seasons in a row. We have got this long term approach. It's like Karma, without wishing to sound like an old hippie, but if you do the right things in this world then good things come back to you."

The interesting thought follows:

"Our man [current manager Pennock] came from Stoke - Pulis' assistant - and a lot of fairly big names applied because they had seen we'd given the previous guy a fair shout."

This might be the way we get Guadiola when he tires of City in a fey years.

Not the way in the higher echelons of the game though (as a rule), at the start of this season Brendon Rodgers was the 5th longest serving prem manager (now 4th) and only 7 were entering or beyond their 3rd year in charge at the same club. Lambert at Villa being one, and Big sam being another, one has gone and another is likely to at seasons end.
