Title: NFR: Ron Moody memory.
Post by: rogerpbackinMidEastUS on June 13, 2015, 03:28:58 PM
One of the most memorable things in my life, which sent a shiver down my spine.
I was organizing some entertainment at The Grosvenor House and got to chat for
5 minutes with Ron Moody in his dressing room.
What a diamond geezer, he would have been about 70 then.
The theme of the evening was Dickensian.
At the precise moment the Great Room lights went out and
"I am reviewing the situation......................................." could be heard
A spotlight came on at the top of the one of the stairwells and there he was in full gear.
He slowly came down the stairs to a 'tumultuous' standing ovation and wandered between
the tables singing.
He then went onto the large stage and was joined by the kids from Sylvia Young School and
did "You've got to pick a pocket or 2" and "Be back Soon"

That memory still lives with me.
A sad loss, but a great life until 91   RIP
