Fulham eye up deal for Groningen's Brazilian defender Eric Fernando Botteghin
Fulham are discussing a deal for Eric Fernando Botteghin.
The 27-year-old is a 6ft 4ins tall Brazilian centre back who plays for Groningen in Holland.
Fulham have been looking for a commanding defender who is good on the ball and hope Botteghin, who has an Italian passport, can fulfil that role.
He scored three goals in 36 appearances last season.
Botteghin joined Groningen from NAC Breda in 2013 and has made 68 appearances in the last two seasons.
The defender has impressed in the Eredivisie this season with some fine performances as Groningen finished eighth.
NOTE: Very highly rated by Eredivisie fans

Looks exactly like the kind of defender we need. Bodurov and this guy would be a significant improvement.
My favorite Brazilian players name has to be.............Fred
However......Frederico Chaves Guedes

<----- I agree
Was hailed as arguably the best cb in the league this season
Would be great if we got him
Speculation by a journalist who is aware that we are in need of a central defender but has forgotten that Kit is buying British and Championship proven British at that.

Decent CB's are like gold dust and every club wants and needs one. We saw last season how almost every defence was liable to make a number of mistakes. The quality is just not there in the championship, even with who we are linked with does not inspire me that much.

Good name, I wonder if it will start a REVIVAL?
Don't publicise this... We don't want other clubs getting wind....
I think with the squad we've now got we should allocate a good chunk of our budget (fee + salary)
on a centre back.
We know we can score goals but a few 1-0's wouldn't go amiss.
Money should be irrelevant. (ish)
$5M/$6 on a center back and $1/$2M on a left back could make the difference between
$100M PS TV dosh and Mr Khan (possibly) worrying that we're still in the CS in 1916/17
and further disruption in management etc.............

Yes, those are the two critical requirements, anything else would be a bonus but they should be the priorities.
Looking at the video, he seems to read the game very well and is good in the air, but did not appear too fast across the ground.
Could be the angle it was filmed from, quite high in the stand.
