Title: Old Sod's Army-quiet players.
Post by: bog on July 13, 2015, 09:13:25 PM
Some quiet ones who played for the club but will never be forgotten.

Robin Lawler, Eddie Lowe, Stan Brown, Aaron Hughes.

My first game was in 1956 and Robin Lawler was playing left back. He is my only memory of the team that day.

His first name was actually Joseph, I think he lived by the ground up until his passing and was still a regular visitor to matches. Another was Dave Underwood, a keeper who played  few games but went on record how much he loved the club. And of course Bobby Keetch who was abosutely gutted when he was sold to QPR.

Not sure Dave and Bobby were as quiet as the others mentioned Captain.

There were regular card schools after home games and my brother was nearly always involved, he described Dave Underwood as a brilliant mimic who would answer the incoming telephone calls in a variety of accents to the delight of the rest of the attendees..... The Maestro occasionally joined in.
Bobby was also a very vibrant personality. A keen follower of fashion who attracted a large female following.
