So another game approaches and my pre season optimism is already in tatters. What side do you think we SHOULD be putting out tomorrow. Lets assume that both Betts and Smith are out.
--------------------Lonergan----------
Richards--Hutchinson---Burn------Ream
--------------------------O'Hara----------
LVC----------Cairney--------------Kaca
------------------------McCormack--------
--------------Dembele---------------------
I wanted Ream at CB, but I couldn't face having either Voser or Kav in the team. Would like to see Cairney played centrally. Strike force picks itself as Taggart is injured/almost injured/coming back from injury and Woodrow is terrible.
Good shout ordar .
Lonergan
Jazz Hutch Burn Ream
O'Hara
Cairney LVC Pringle
Woodrow McCormack
This is what I'd hope for.
Subs I'd be interested in are Moussa for Cauley (60 mins), Kaca for Ben (65 mins), Hyndman for LVC (70 mins).
A bit more attacking intent:
--------------------Lonergan---------------------
Richards----Hutchinson---Ream----Kavanagh
---------------------O'Hara-----------------------
----------Cairney------------Pringle--------------
Cole-----------------------------------Kacanliklic
------------------McCormack(c)------------------
Kav looked pretty comfortable at LB pre-season and deserves a shot
Cole for his pace and because he is a natural right winger (he must be fit by now)
Would love to see Cairney & Pringle in more central roles
Ross to start (sub for Moussa at HT if he has another shocker)
Kiraly
Burn Senderos Bodurov Voser
Fotheringham
Cook Taraabt Chihi
Healy E Johnson.

Dropping the big LVC, controversial!
Coming around to Dembele though, he was bright at Cardiff and offered us some pace against Hull. All in all we looked a better team with him in it.
It would be good to get a more mobile striker in who can stretch the defence making space for the midfielders like Cairney to have a pop.
For me
Lonergan
Richards Hutchinson Burn Ream
Cairney Christensen O'Hara Kacaniklic

I'm sure Pringle will come good soon. His crosses and corners are also excellent.

For what it's worth I've been watching Cole for the u-21s and I wouldn't hold your breath on him stepping in and doing a good job in the first 11 any time soon. Not convinced he has the instincts or footballing brain, seems to dawdle on the ball too long before making a decision on what he wants to do. Hope to be proved wrong but I've felt the same in every game I've seen him in so far I'm afraid. Not sure it's something that can be coached out but not particularly enthused so far.

I like the look of this team. Would be nice to have a bit of pace up front.
I would like to see Dembele given a start but I think Kit may start Woodrow.

And If he does he's an idiot. Dembele made a ton of difference in second half on Wednesday.
I would play Ream instead of Bodurov. I would give LVC a rest and move Carney alongside O'Hara And bring in Kaka on the left or right with Pringle on the other side.
Dembele and Ross up top.

I would agree with this. I worry a lot about left back though, which is why I put Ream in there.

I was thinking the same but would rather have Ream replace Bodurov.

Yeah, that makes sense. He wouldn't have had a chance to train with the lads, and probably hasn't had ANY training since Bolton decided to sell him.

Kit Symons revealed striker Matt Smith faces four to six weeks on the sidelines but he must wait to determine the extent of goalkeeper Marcus Betinelli's injury, which appears more severe, after the pair both suffered MCL damage following a collision against Hull City on Wednesday.
"It was a nasty clash and they both have knee ligament damage to their MCL," Symons said. "Matt's is less severe so we're looking at four to six weeks with conservative treatment. Marcus is a more serious MCL injury and he's also damaged another ligament so we're waiting for specialist advice on that one."
One player's misfortune is another's opportunity, and Symons expects free agent summer signing Andrew Lonergan to step up in Bettinelli's absence.
"We have two really good keepers in Marcus and Andy," Symons continued. "Obviously Lonners came off the bench on Wednesday night and I'm delighted with how well he has done during pre-season and the first game against Cardiff as well, he had a really good game. I'm delighted with Lonners and more than happy for him to be playing."
In terms of a replacement for Smith, Symons has confidence in his younger forwards but admits there may still be business to be done while the transfer window is still open.
"Going into the game tomorrow, we've got Cauley Woodrow and Moussa Dembélé, who are two young, fairly inexperienced players but very good players," he said. "Adam Taggart is coming back from injury, and he'll be playing in the Under-21s. He'll start upping his game time a little bit. We are a little bit light there so that's an area we will certainly look at."
In better injury news, Scott Parker and Fernando Amorebieta are close to a return to full training, but Jack Grimmer faces two months on the sidelines.
"The longer-term ones, Fernando [Amorebieta] and Scotty Parker are both really close to joining in," continued Symons. "Fernando will be either over the weekend or early next week. Scott we'll look at over the weekend, Sunday or Monday, as to whether he can join in with the football, which is good.
"Georgie Williams has been kicking on quite nicely. He's joining in the sessions but unopposed at the moment, so he's just a floater, but he's coming along quite well. [Sean] Kav[anagh] is back in full training now, Jack Grimmer had his operation so he's looking at about eight weeks roughly he will be out of action."
New signing from Bolton Wanderers, Tim Ream, joined in with First Team training but Symons reveals he has his doubts whether the United States international will be available for selection on Saturday.
"He had been training but he's been out since his last game for the USA, which was about four weeks ago, so he hasn't played or trained properly with a team since then," added Symons.
"We'll see. Potentially tomorrow might be too early for him but, after a few days training, hopefully, we'll get him involved Tuesday or if not certainly for next Saturday."

I really want Moussa to play the full 90 minutes. If we want him to stay we need to give him time on the pitch.

He should fit in well with the rest of the team as they dont know what they are doing either,

But if they aren't available then
Lonergan
Jazz Bodurov Ream Voser

Don't think Kaca or Pringle are good enough but I blame our recruitment for that. We haven't bought a proper winger, its all designed to be narrow. Surprise Surprise!
i cant believe how slow Pringle is its like hes running backwards

plus 1 isn't sufficient. If there was a plus 100 I would press it. Stuff pushing plus 1 a 100 times though. He isn't that slow......
Huddersfield fans on my train. Not sure how, presume they come down the west coast, change at Bristol Parkway, then across to London via Swindon
