Title: Team For Tonight
Post by: filham on December 15, 2015, 10:57:02 AM
We are desperate for a win but Ipswich have won three away games on the trot and we have gone six without a win. We are up against it and the team selection needs a eye on defence, an early goal conceded would be a huge blow

                                                                       Lonergan
                                           Richards         Burn         Stearman     Ream

                                                                    Mattila
                                                   Fredericks  O,Hara      Garbut

                                                               Dembele      McCormack

Both teams above have Mattila
I am assuming that as he was not even a sub on Sat he is was not fit so unlikely to be fit today
Parker I don't think can play 2 a week
and FPT are you seriously dropping McCormack ?

Therefore I would like to see

                                                               Lonergan
                                                Burn         Stearman     Ream
                                Fredericks                                               Garbutt

                                                   O,Hara           Hyndman
                                                              Cairney

                                                        Dembele      McCormack

However I have my doubts that Gray would want to play anything another than 442 with so little practice time in between matches

For me I would go

LOnners

Fredericks
Stearman
Ream
Garbutt

Matilla (or Parker/Hyndmann if Matilla not fit)
O'Hara

Cariney
McCormack
Kaka

Dembele

Subs
Lewis
Burn
Parker
Hyndman
Pringle
Woodrow
Smith

Of course not! God knows how my brain decided to pop O'Hara up front instead of Ross. I've got Ross as anytime goal scorer tonight as well, would be suicide for me!

                                                                    Mattila

                                                               Dembele      McCormack

Two defenders on the wings...not for me.

I'd prefer the 5-3-2 but I guess Gray will continue with his 4-4-2.

Lonergan
Richards - Stearman - Burn - Ream
Fredericks - Mattila - Cairney - Kaca
Dembele - McCormack

I just don´t think I can stomach Richards playing again.Woeful defending & positional play all the time. Stearman, Burn Ream at the back with Fredericks & Garbutt wing backs. Matilla in front of central 3. Cairney & O´Hara behind McCormack & Dembelle.

Against the carthorses of Ipswich I think I'd put Smith up front rather than Dembelle, not because MD is weak but because I'd like to protect him from injury

Noticeable how many of us are suggesting a return of Dan Burn. We really need him as opponents are winning so much in the air.

It has to be Dan Burn and ten others.

Last time we played 3 or 5 what ever you wish to call it across the back, Birmingham ripped us a new one. Any team with pace out side will do the same, as your full backs or wing backs what ever you want to call them could be out of position. Ipswich are not slow upfront they have some pretty mobile players

Mick Mcarthy sides do play very direct though so three CB's could be a good idea to hopefully stop them hitting their forwards quickly

Cairney has to play imo.
Didn't think Parker & O'Hara worked that well.
I'd rather Hyndman than Parker but may be a bit physical for him against a McCarthy team.

Wouldn't mind seeing Smithy at some point too. He backs up the opposition as he's such a handful.

Coyw!

out of all the answers here how many teams are actually the same. We all seem to have different ideas on who is the right person, and yet we expect the manager/coach/chairman whoever to get it correct instantly.

Yes i know it is their job, but they can only select who they feel is right at any given time.

True but they also get the second ball or knockdown wide if they can, similar to Birmingham. That game still gives me nightmares
