I can only think of 14 - Charles, Law, Greaves, Macca, Barnes, Cunningham, Keegan, Beckham, Gascoigne, Hughes, Lineker, Ince, Rush, Bale,
No defenders
Didn't Tony Cascarino go and play in Italy?
Waddle
Barnes never played outside of the U.K. Did you mean Blissett?
Michael Owen
Gerry Hitchens.
Owen Hargreaves played most of his career in Germany.
Chippy Brady won two Scudetti with Juve. [OK Not British!]
Hoddle, Collins, Lambert...
I think Keegan is probably number one - especially if you're thinking of those that replicated their talent abroad also.
I don't think Gareth Bale has touched what he's really capable of yet at Real Madrid. Jimmy Greaves went to Milan for a coffee but wanted to stay in London (deal was already done so came back at the first opportunity).
Glenn Hoddle went an played at Arsene Wenger's Monaco, right? Maybe he wasn't at his peak. Paul Lambert has a bit of a reputation in Germany from his time with Dortmund, won the Champions League over there.
David Platt? Conquered Italy by all accounts.
Wilkins
...and what about our own(!) Steve Archibald - still a legend at the Nou Camp, as in 'Steve Archibald - Qui?'
Whereas rivals Real will never forget Jonathan Woodgate with his own goal + sending off on debut.
What about Brits who made their name abroad?
Woodgate mcmanaman ray wilkins
Liam Brady played for Juventus in the early 80's.....remember watching him when I lived in Naples as a kid and my Dad took me to watch Napoli a few times.
Wilkins, Hoddle, Archibald, Francis, Hateley (would he count)
Joe Baker who went with Law to Torino.
Eric Black Aberdeen to Metz..
