Fulham look set to miss out on Manchester City frontman
Aug 9 2010 By Jacob Murtagh

MARK Hughes has played down speculation linking him with a move for Manchester City frontman Roque Santa Cruz.
The Fulham boss is in the market for a new striker, but has already ruled out a swoop for Santa Cruz's Eastlands team-mate Craig Bellamy.
But he insists a move for the Paraguay international is also unlikely because he can't afford his wages.
He said: "People are making assumptions because I've worked with him before.

"I like him as a player, that's been clear because of the number of times I purchased him.

"I think there's a lot of players at Manchester City that are at a level of finance which makes it difficult for a lot of teams to allow the player to make a decision to come to a certain club.
"There may be other opportunities we may try and pursue instead of that one."

Personally, I'd rather Sparky go out and get the next RSC. We'd be better off for it.
