Title: Hodgson to make £3m bid for former Fulham full-back
Post by: os5889 on August 17, 2010, 11:30:33 PM
Not the first story I've come across today saying this.......

Hodgson to make £3m bid for former Fulham full-back

Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson is closing in on a cut-price £3m deal for Paul Konchesky.

Hodgson is ready to raid his former club for the 29-year-old left back who only has one year left on his contract at Fulham.

Konchesky missed Fulham's opener at Bolton last Saturday and is believed to be keen on following his former manager to Anfield.

Hodgson is having to wheel and deal on limited funds and a move for his old trusted left back would represent good business in his eyes.

Liverpool were forced to play Danish centre half Daniel Agger out of position at left back against Arsenal on Sunday because they are short in that position.

Emiliano Insua is surplus to requirements and a move to Fiorentina fell through last month while the club have re-signed Fabio Aurelio.

But that has not ended Liverpool's interest in Konchesky as Hodgson remains a big admirer of a player he made a mainstay of his defence at Fulham.

What a load of complete and utter bo**ocks, how can they possible now if he is 'keen' to leave. F'in awful journalism, sturring up the usually rubbish.

Was it just me that got the vibe that Roy and Konch weren't the best of mates?  They worked well professionally together, but I got the impression Roy wasn't as close to Konch as some of the other players.

Maybe Sparky aims to bring Wayne Bridge back to the club if Konch leaves? I can't see better left backs available at the moment.

And surely it would be great to have another Terry-hater at our wonderful football club.

He said he wouldn't 'raid' us. Is buying one player a raid?

I would say no to one. I don't want to lose Knoch or any of our plays to Liverpool except Kelly or Stoor.

I doubt Roy's planning a move for Stoor or Kelly any time soon

My point was I doubt care if either of those two go to another team.

I'd take £3M for Konch. He's a decent left back, but he did have a few howlers last season.

Like Swart, we need to have a replacement first.

Good left backs don't grow on trees.

It's hard enough trying to find a bad one at the moment.

What about Luke Young? He can play Left-back as well as right and we were linked to him recently..

Massive wages and always injured.

Would be gutted if Konch left, he is a quality left back.

Yes he has the (now very occasional) howler, but he is great going forwards. Last season at several games there was acres of space to run into but he was being held back for positional purposes, this season I think that he will be given more freedom to roam and will be an important part of our attacks.

Agreed Mr AlFayedsCheque, even with Hodgson's strict positional structure, it was remarkable how many of our attacks came from Konch down the left wing. He would be very hard to replace in my view

Obviously with the Mirrors foresight, they already consider the deal done and dusted and so he is, or will soon be, a former Fulham full-back. :006:

I read that as he wouldn't take any of our players, still i dont trust the man at all now so Konch will be gone tomorrow  :dft007: Cant we just stick Rufus in a time machine and get him as a 27 year old?
