Title: England's style vs fulham's
Post by: Barrett487 on September 04, 2016, 11:53:43 PM
Why do England rely on fast fullbacks, rather than attacking wide men?

Odoi and Malone/Sess play their part but we have wide attacking players who can beat an opponent as well. England rely on central midfielders to wander.

Bear in mind that i only saw snippets of the match, but from what i saw..... i strongly suspect than BigS hasn't the adventurous nature that the up and coming England stars need. He plays narrow and hopes the fullbacks can attack.

It seemed to me that England were similar to 'old Fulham' in wanting to invest a lot of effort in charging down the middle of the park and getting involved in intricate short passing in the 'd' before losing possession. Agree that getting behind the full backs is the way ahead

But England don't produce "wingers" any more. The days when a player could dribble or run past a fullback and get a cross in are non existent. Now if a wide man gets it he rarely crosses he cuts inside. Crosses are left to full backs (and religious people)
