So, Coming off the back of a disappointing Villa game, What would your team be for Huddersfield?
I would start Kalas ahead of Sigurdson if hes fit, If not I would have
Button, Odoi Madl Sigurdson Malone, Parker Johansen, Cairney Aluko Piazon, Martin
If Ayite is fit I would start him IMO

Im not a fan of Sigurdsson, in fact im surprised hes not come in for any stick.
Yes hes new and still probably finding hes feet, but what ive seen so far, not impressed.
We need to set out with a purpose and attack Huddersfield.
Id bring Fredricks in , and say go give me a good 60 mins
GK position will be the interesting one although fully expect Button to keep his place

I think Button will keep his place because Bettinelli played for the 21s.
I dont think Fredericks should start, He only looks good when he comes on against tired defences he can run at. Good impact player but not defensively good enough to start imo.
I'd go Betts
Fredericks. Kalas. Madl. Sess
Tunni. Parker
Aluko. Cairney. Ayite
Martin
Bettinelli
Fredericks Kalas Madl Sessegnon
Parker McDonald
Cairney Johansen Aluko
Martin
Whatever happens don't expect the unexpected.
Fortress Fulham has evolved into 'a walk in the park' for visiting teams.
Not so much the team selection, but who's gonna' be bothered to 'turn up on the day' if they are selected.
I would go
Betts (ok lets see if he is any better)
Odoi (fred better as an impact sub) Kalas - Siggurdson - Sess
Parker-Johansen
Ayite-Carney-Kebano
Martin

I like the look of this team, genuine pace on both flanks
I would still go for Button and cancel the plan that goalkeepers are also centre backs.
I have no idea, they have all had a go and failed, Jocanovic has just about tried all permutations. Start with Parker as captain and then lots of throws of the dice to select the options for every other position.
I want us to experiment with our play, so i'd run:
Button
Sess/Fredericks Madl Kalas Siggurdson Odoi
Tunni Parker Aluko/Ayite/Cairney
Piazon/Aluko/Ayite/Cairney
Martin
or the 4-2-3-1 Ben has
My reasoning for the 5-3-1-1 is simple: Defense and Structure
We have great ability going forward, and i feel that by putting Odoi and Sess/Fredericks in an attacking formation, we can play with attacking width from the fullbacks, and they're covered by Siggurdson and Tunni when they bomb up and down the field. Piazon/Aluko/Cairney/Ayite tucks into that midfield trio in defence making a staunch 5-4-1, which is hard to break down with Parker and Tunni in that midfield. Attacking Cairney steps up with the full backs, making a sort of 3-4-3, or a 3-3-1-2. it's a little risky but it's unexpected and covers for our aggressive fullbacks.
Never going to happen but....
Button
Odoi - Kalas - Sig - Sess
McDonald
Kebano - Cairney - Ayite
Martin - Aluko

Back in the days of Coleman, Melville, Symons and Morgs, I was fascinated by the business of playing three CBs. As one who played that position when there was only one of me I often wondered what they all found to do and how they didn't get in each other's way.
It's not something we've since gone in for in a big way. A few seasons back, under Kit, we put out Kav, Turner (remember him?), Hutch, Hoogland and Jazz. We got a draw out of that with McCormack and Smith up front.
12 years before that Coleman got a 1-0 win at Derby with a back 5 of: Finnan, Goma, Zat, Melville and Rufus. Hayles and Marlet were up front.
It's an old trick...but it might just work.
Very interesting that nobody has suggested staying with the Parker/McDonald combination, good choice!!

I think this point is one of those rare mark the calendar occasions where this forum is in agreement
Which one to retain and who to play with them is a whole different matter that I for one could make various different proposals and be equally happy with any
Maik Taylor
Matty Lawrence
Chris Coleman
Mark Blake
Rufus Brevett
Neil Smith
Paul Bracewell
Peter Beardsley
Steve Hayward
Paul Peschisolido
Paul Moody.

Would that team above beat present Huddersfield side?
If everyone's fit, I'd like to see:
Bettinelli
Fredericks - Kalas - Sigurdsson - Malone
McDonald - Johansen
Cairney - Aluko - Ayité
Martin
A winning team would be nice
Have to agree I'd like to see Betts between the sticks to see if he is any better. Would also like to stick with Parker/McDonald for now in the middle. Would love to see Fredericks get more game time but don't think he should start yet. I still worry about his fitness and injury tendencies. I'm torn with Cairney as I am not sure he is at his best currently. Can't help but wonder if we should try something else.
I doubt that Joka will play anything other then the 4-2-3-1. Which is fine so long as we stop the passing it around in the back and go more direct in our attacking. I want to see us taking more shots on goal. I want to see the keeper used less as a back pass and more of a pressure relief outlet with more clearing out the danger kicks rather then playing with it at his feet. I want to see more balls (not always) sent in for Martin to use for either holding up play or to play off other players. I want to see more balls played wide with pace and crosses sent in.
With all that said I would go with something like:
Bring on Fredericks at least at half time to run at them.
Sub for midfield would be Tunni
Cairney to sub late for Piazon.
Personally I'd drop Martin and go with Aluko up top with Kebano on the wings to add pace to the team.
Betts
Odoi. Kalas. Madl. Sess
Tunni. Parker
Kebano. Cairney. Ayite
Aluko
I'd have Fredricks to come on for Odoi later on and McDonald for tunners or parker when one of them tired.

I could see doing this but for some reason I don't think Joka will ever try it.
My Lineup:
Bettinelli
Fredericks
Kalas (Provided he is fit, otherwise Madl)
Sigurdsson
Sessegnon
Parker
Jozabed
Aluko
Cairney
Ayité
Martin
What I think Slav will go with:
Button
Odoi
Madl
Sigurdsson
Sessegnon
Parker
McDonald
Aluko
Cairney
Piazon
Martin
Betts
Fred Kalas Madl Odoi
LVC Parker (Tunnicliffe for LVC if not fit)
Piazon Cairney Aluko
Martin
No more Aluko can't understand why he is is everyone's team. Total waste of space for me. He,s the least likely to score out of all our front players and thats difficult !

His end product is poor but hes quick, skillful and has a good work-rate, pressing from the front
Button
Fredericks - Kalas - Sigurdsson - Malone

I know Button gave the goal away on Saturday, and I know he gives us kittens at least 2-3 times per game, with all the 'keeper as sweeper' nonsense, but I also remember when Bettinelli was no.1 and wishing we could have a better keeper - I never felt he was up to it, especially when it came to marshalling the defence and coming off his line.
Personally, as long as Joka has had a strong word about the amount of times it's played back to him, I would still favour Button ahead of Bettinelli, and would stick with him for a few games more.
FWIW my team would be:
Button
Kalas*, Madl, Sigurdsson, Odoi
Parker, McDonald/Johanssen
Aluko, Cairney, Ayite
Martin
Subs: Bettinelli, Fredericks, Malone/Sessegnon, LVC, Jozabed, Kebano, Smith
*Based only on what I have been told by someone I consider to be a very astute Boro fan, who has seen him numerous times at right back and centre back, and the knowledge that Odoi is actually better at left back.

Well if we play with 12 players we may have a chance! :005:
Sky reporting Hudson will feature for Huddersfield as some one is suspended, surely this can't be Mark Hudson?
