More local derbys the better I'd say. Don't think they'd cause much of a threat next season, league wise, although their fans are always a bit of a nuisance. They've be taking boats down the Thames again, fighting with each other.

Another London Derby, not far to travel compared to Blackburn, Rotherham, Wigan, it also guarantees a good attendance at home.

Coming back from the old Den one winter evening through those alleyways and railway tunnels after having beaten them 3-0 was one of the more interesting occasions of my football experience.
I was due to join the SAS the next week but gave up the idea as it would have been too tame.

Was that the game when we were 3-0 at half time and there was a fight at half time and a minor pitch invasion?
I've gone to the Den and the New Den on a number of occasions and personally never had any problems, but I do understand why some would want to avoid it.

I remember once being on Coventry station when a 'Millwall train' pulled in  (mid-late 90's)
They marauded onto the platform like a herd of Vikings and just pushed their way
out of the station oblivious to anyone in their way.
Scary and the couple of policeman were powerless.
I also recall the unpleasant walk from New Cross Gate to the 'old' Den during the days when
the 'skinhead mentality' was prevalent.
At the time it was almost as bad as a trip to Loftus Road.

Tony Gale, who had just come into the side and was impressing everyone, scored early on and after that it was pretty much mayhem all the way.
Fortunately we ran into some Millwall fans with whom I had played football on the way back and we all ended up in a pub, then fairly new but now demolished along with the rest  of the Bonamy Estate, called the Apples and Pears. It had a similar ambiance to that of the Den but was more crowded, had more beer and many more girls - who were more dangerous than the blokes.

Following their win this afternoon some of the Millwall fans ran onto the pitch. When Morrrison was been interviewed he said that this lot ( their fans) was making him mad. I know that the manager wasn't happy with the fans either.

Always loved going to The Den...new and old.....handy away day.....and hopefully 6 points towards our automatic promotion next season.

These reporters going on about 'Millwall fans behaviour'....need to get a life.....and focus on real...ie important.. issues...such as 11 Londoners being stabbed to death in the past 3 weeks.

Man up FFS, we really have got some limp wristed fans, when Millwall came to ours two seasons ago they were as good as gold, no problems whatsoever, this league needs as many southern teams as we can get, just need Reading to get beat now.

My first ever Fulham away match was at The Den.  Back in 1972-73 season and the original Supermitch scored in the first minute.  We went on to win 3-1.  Went there 8 times and have been to the New Den 4 times including once with Staines Town in an FA Cup replay.

I seem to remember leaving that game early as groups of Milwall thugs were coming off the terraces and making for the section where our supporters were housed and were throwing tin cans at us, just to get proceedings under way.

Have no issue with Millwall fans, personally. Prefer another London game over a trip to Bradford. We should take a good crowd there and we'll take six points off them.

In the late 60s/early 70s, I decided to visit every London ground in the football league. I missed a couple, but the ONLY time I was ever scared for 90 minutes in an English sports venue was at the Old Den. I swore I'd never go back, and I never did nor will I ever.

The only other time I ever felt afraid for more than a minute was at the Baseball Ground when my fellow Hatter supporters started chanting "Here We Go." I was on the periphery -- i.e. the border, and didn't want to be in the middle of teenaged idiots. Luckily, the older Luton supporters shut them up. And that only lasted about 5 minutes.

Yes The Apples and Pears, it was my local back in the Sixties. It became so rough, even the arms of the chairs had tattoos on them.

Yet again (with the brave and honourable exception of Steve Morrison, the goal scorer, who condemned the pitch invasion unreservedly and said the actions of Millwall supporters had ruined the day), we have quotes from the Millwall manager Neil Harris and player Aiden O'Brien downplaying what happened at Wembley and offering either tacit or open support for the knuckle-draggers who have infested Millwall. You would expect them to say something along the lines of "we don't want these Neanderthals tainting our club, we are embarrassed and ashamed by their association with us, and we will do whatever we can to get rid of them".  Instead O'Brien says "They can run on the pitch in my eyes, they deserve to", while Harris's contribution included "The fans came on in good spirit".

Remember that game Pesch had a blatant penalty not given.
A millwall fan ran on the pitch and started having a go at Rufus.
Last minute corner Symons scores .Kept behind for at least 30 mins for own safety.

The new den nowhere as intimidating as the old den.
To be fair i did sign the petition to save the new den which was under threat because it should stay in the locality.

The trick seems to be to catch the last train out of London Bridge that you can to make the 3pm kick off.
We did this the season before last and there was more of our fans on the train, most had had a really good pre-match drink.

Yes it generally is a bit of a wait whilst the Constabulary herd the Heathens dragging their knuckles away from the ground. Which enevitably ends up arriving home later than intended thanks to these Neandathel Cretins.
What also makes me shake my head in disbelief, is that a lot of these delinquents are not juveniles either, a lot are adults.

Went to the old one a few times but haven't been to the new one.

Their fans used to be intimidating as a group but I don't have a problem with them as individuals; in fact I used to work with one. A good family man and a real football fan of an unfashionable team. The fact that I was a Fulham fan and in Div 3 (or whatever it's called now) rather than C*****a or similar brought respect.

Went to the old den many times.  A characterful place where no two sides of the ground were alike.  My sort of ground.  New Den more uniform, less appealing.

Going there reminded me of Friday / Saturday nights out in any number of towns and cities across the land.  If you aren't looking for trouble, you have to be really quite unlucky to find it.   But if you give any indication that trouble might be welcome, it will find you.

The only bother I've ever experienced was a coming together with the rear end of a skittish police horse at that hotbed of football trouble, the Underhill stadium Barnet twenty five years ago.  Millwall fans are generally fine, but the increased numbers of police horses associated with their arrival worries me still.

Love going to Millwall, been to all our games there since 1981. Personally think its a great away day, superb pubs around London Bridge.
Its a bit edgy but you'll only find trouble if you go looking for it. They've always had a large hoolie element but never had a problem there. Used to work with a few  Millwall boys & when we played there in 98 myself & a mate met them all in a pub off Elephant & Castle & they were brilliant with us.
They've got a lot of decent fans amongst the knuckledraggers. When they came to the Cottage a couple of years ago we were chatting to a load in the pub & they were all good as gold to be fair

Some of the bed wetters on this thread should take notice of these comments, far more likely to come across trouble at home to Brentford now days then you ever will with Millwall.

A friend, Millwall fan, lost a testicle to a kick from a riot copper thug because he allegedly wouldn't back down for his dog. When the complaint went to court there was no dog on the video.

There's a surprise.

Love going to Millwall, been to all our games there since 1981. Personally think its a great away day, superb pubs around London Bridge.
Its a bit edgy but you'll only find trouble if you go looking for it. They've always had a large hoolie element but never had a problem there. I also wear my suit of armour at Brentford as well. I take a Flame Thrower there.

That's my main memory of the New Den being locked in for 30 mins or more.

Millwall fans were fine when they came to us 2 years ago, I heard they enjoyed the day because the police were not out in huge numbers ready to march them to and from the local station. They were in the pub in Putney and were just like any other fans. Have been to the New Den a few times and seen us win there and still managed to get home with my head intact.
