Title: Clapham Junction Saturday
Post by: Southcoastffc on August 01, 2017, 10:11:32 PM
I read this on the National Rail site "Potential queue time to board a train at Clapham Junction is 45 minutes".  Is that really true???   What's going on?

It's the first day of the Waterloo shut down of ten platforms to lengthen them.  There's no telling how bad it will actually be.  Fair amount of expectations management going on.  Goes on until late August.

From 5 to 28 August a number of platforms at Waterloo will be shut. They are doing major works to extend the length of platforms so longer trains can be used

It means dramatically reduced services on all lines in & out of Waterloo = trains that are running to be overcrowded & queuing systems at a number of stations maybe in operation e.g. Clapham Junction & Wimbledon to name two.

Avoid South West Trains during August, basically.

The number of rush-hour services from my local station is being cut from 7 to 2, and the scheduled travel time is going up from 26 minutes to 54 minutes.

Given it is a major infrastructure project, it is also bound to run over budget and over time too  :dft011:
