I've just got a rhodoenrdrum started to flower.in the garden.
How weird about 2 1/2 months late??? Who's knows
Often bloom late,to do with your soil most probably.
We've had a lot of rain this summer, they like water.
I recommend SBK.
Thanks all but what is SBK ?
Who needs google when you got FOF.
Mine bloomed early and look like about to bloom again!

It's weedkiller for woody stuff and shrubs. Sorry, but I really don't like Rhododendrons at all because they're so rampant in woodlands shading out the native plants so they're very bad for wildlife. I'm using SBK on the stumps of an old Laurel hedge. It takes a while to finish it off but it's better than Roundup for that sort of thing.

Sounds like you are doing things right and conditions are favourable.Β Tend to take the simple view that plants want to reproduce, provided they have sufficient stored energy.Β Hope you enjoy the unseasonal blooms.
They are water loving, acid soil loving, and shade loving.Β Get your ph right.Β Interestingly, this is the first year my "Big Daddy" variety of rhododendrum didn't bloom.Β Very alkaline soils where I live.Β I put too much acidifier via watering can on it in the spring and it suffered.Β Proof that you can overdo it if you aren't careful.Β But it's a double bloomer, so I think it will come around yet this year with some nice big blooms.Β
Grow your own dope.
Plant a man.
Would that be Bill or Ben ? To get a little Weed !
