Fulham bid £15m for Newcastle's Dwight Gayle

There was speculation yesterday that the Championship club had tabled an offer for Gayle.

And the Gazette understands that a formal offer has now been made for the 26-year-old, who wasn't involved against West Ham United last weekend. Leeds United have also enquired about Gayle, but the club has not tabled a bid. Newcastle would want a bid of closer to £20million for No 9 Gayle, who scored 23 goals last season. Any sale would be dependent on the club securing a replacement ahead of tomorrow night's transfer deadline. In any case, Gayle, signed from Crystal Palace last summer, has given no indication that he wants to leave the Premier League club. Gayle had what manager Rafa Benitez described as a hamstring "issue" earlier this month.

He also missed last week's Carabao Cup defeat to Nottingham Forest through illness, but he returned to training ahead of the West Ham game. Benitez said last week that Gayle needs to "go back to his level".

Newcastle United confirm Wednesday £15m bid received for Dwight Gayle – Sky Sports

Sky Sports confirm a £15m bid has been made by Fulham for Dwight Gayle this (Wednesday) morning.

On Tuesday night, Sky Sports reported that claims Newcastle had accepted a bid of £15m were wide of the mark.

Sky Sports' man in the north east, Keith Downie, saying that after checking it out with NUFC, he was told Fulham hadn't even been in touch with Newcastle United.

However, that has all changed, with Keith Downie saying it has now been confirmed to him by Newcastle United 'sources' that a £15m bid from the Cottagers has been made this (Wednesday) morning, with NUFC 'considering whether to accept'.

Keith Downie of Sky Sports:

"Newcastle sources tell us this morning they have received a £15m from Fulham for striker Dwight Gayle. They're considering whether to accept.

"Fulham's formal bid only landed on the St James Park desk this (Wednesday) morning.

"Not rejected but we understand they're looking for closer to £20m.

"Rafa Benitez wants to be sure he has a replacement lined up before Newcastle agree to sell Dwight Gayle. £15m Fulham bid on the table."

Newcastle receive B£15million bid from Fulham for striker Dwight Gayle

Fulham have tabled a B£15million bid for Newcastle striker Dwight Gayle after it became clear the player could be available.

The bid was received on Wednesday morning hours after reports of the London club's interest in the 26-year-old emerged.

Press Association Sport understands that the Magpies value last season's 23-goal leading scorer at closer to B£20million, although may yet be prepared to settle for somewhere between the two figures.

However, they will not consider doing business with Fulham or anyone else until they have a replacement lined up amid speculation that they have an interest in Liverpool's Divock Origi.

Manager Rafael Benitez is prepared to sacrifice Gayle, who he bought for B£10million from Crystal Palace last summer, after a recent drop in form.

He has already drafted in Stoke's Joselu in a B£5million deal and has admitted he is looking for a different type of striker to complement the Spaniard.

Benitez has been forced to rebuild for the Premier League on a budget at a time when other clubs are investing heavily, and is having to free up resources - Emmanuel Riviere and Siem de Jong have left the club in the last week or so and Grant Hanley could soon join them - to open the door for further incomings.

Fulham offer £15m for Gayle
by Dan on August 30, 2017

Fulham have this morning submitted a £15m bid for Newcastle United striker Dwight Gayle, according to various sources.

Rafa Benitez is keen to move the 26 year-old forward on before the end of the summer transfer window as Gayle doesn't feature in his Premier League plans but, although Newcastle have yet to formally reject Fulham's bid, they are believed to be holding out for an offer around the £20m mark. The former Peterborough and Crystal Palace striker, who cost the Magpies £10m last summer, scored 23 goals in 34 appearances as United won the Championship last term.

Gayle's proven Championship pedigree – he scored 13 goals in 29 games for Posh back in 2012/2013 – has convinced Fulham to table a substantial offer as they search for further forward options in addition to summer signings Rui Fonte and Aboubakar Kamara. Fulham were close to signing Gayle when he moved to St. James' Park having been long-term admirers of the Walthamstow-born striker. The Londoners are planning a busy end to the transfer window as they seek to give Slavisa Jokanovic the tools to mount a serious promotion push.

Fulham simply must break the bank for this lethal finisher to help fill the void left by Aluko

Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic has assembled one of the strongest squads in the division during his tenure at the club, and after suffering playoff heartbreak last season, will hope to go one step further this year by securing a return to the Premier League.

An excellent spine to his side consisting of the likes of Tom Cairney, Stefan Johansen and Tomas Kalas, all that is missing from Jokanovic's side is a prolific striker, but that could all be about to change.

Fulham signed Aboubakar Kamara from Amiens this summer, but with the young Frenchman inexperienced at this level, another attacking option should be a priority for the club in the closing hours of the transfer window.

According to The Shields Gazette, Jokanovic has certainly addressed this issue, with an astonishing £15 million bid for Newcastle United's, Dwight Gayle.

The striker proved prolific with the Magpies at this level last season, smashing 23 goals as Newcastle won the title on the final day of the campaign.

Fulham bid £15m for Dwight Gayle but Newcastle demanding up to £20m to fund replacement

Newcastle want between £18m-20 million for 26-year-old striker Dwight Gayle
Gayle was Newcastle's top scorer last season, netting 23 times in total
He was left out of Newcastle's 3-0 victory over West Ham on Saturday
Rafa Benitez is looking to raise funds so that he can buy new players

Fulham have launched a £15million offer for Newcastle striker Dwight Gayle with the transfer deadline fast approaching.

However, Newcastle want between £18m and £20m for the 26-year-old to help fund squad strengthening and make profit.

Gayle, formerly of Crystal Palace, finished as Newcastle's top scorer last season with 23 goals, helping fire them straight back up to the Premier League.

Fulham have made a late £15million offer for Newcastle striker Dwight Gayle

The English striker was left out of Newcastle's squad for their first league win of the season against West Ham on Saturday and was substituted by Rafa Benitez in the club's first two fixtures.

Meanwhile, Fulham are looking to bolster their attacking options before the transfer window closes following a slow start to their Championship campaign.

Slavisa Jokanovic's side sit 14th, having won just one match and scored four goals so far.

Wolves transfer comment: Why Wanderers should go all out for Dwight Gayle

The Newcastle attacker may leave the North East in the next couple of days

Fulham are believed to have made an offer to Newcastle United for striker Dwight Gayle.

The centre-forward has attracted interest from elsewhere after just one season at St James's Park - though what a season it was.

Gayle, in his first full campaign in England's second tier, took to it like a duck to water and scored 23 times in 34 appearances in all competitions.

It was no nonsense business from the Magpies last summer; recruit a poacher, integrate him into a side that will dominate the ball and create chances and hey presto!

Gayle could leave Tyneside in the next 48 hours if the right bid is made; it's understood Newcastle need to sell before they can buy and may allow Gayle to leave in order to raise funds.

As well as Fulham, Leeds are also said to be interested, armed with funds from the sale of Chris Wood.

The fact of the matter is: Dwight Gayle would be an absolutely perfect fit for Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The obstacles are there for all to see; the valuation of the player means that he'd cost more than Messrs Cavaleiro, Costa and Neves and so Wolves would need to break their transfer record for the fourth time in a year.

There's competition from Championship rivals who will be of the same mind, of course - Fulham and Leeds being two sides who would likely be able to compete with Wolves financially and on the pitch.

Yet after the departures of Jon Dadi Bodvarsson, Joe Mason and Nouha Dicko, Wolves are dangerously thin on the ground for senior forwards.

Bright Enobakhare has begun the season as well as anybody could have hoped, and kudos for Nuno Espirito Santo for extending him an opportunity.

But Leo Bonatini needs competition at the top end of the pitch, and Gayle fits the bill.

Whether the Molineux hierarchy would be willing to meet the Toon's valuation and enter into a bidding battle remains to be seen.

But it can't be ignored that Gayle would thrive with Wolves' creative talents in Costa, Neves, Jota and co surrounding him.

He may cost a few quid, but it could ultimately pay dividends.

'That is a real shame', 'Good business' – Fulham fans react to club's latest departure

Fulham picked up their first Championship victory of the campaign on Saturday courtesy of a 2-0 success at Ipswich Town.

The Cottagers drew their opening three league matches against Norwich City, Reading, and Leeds United before going down 1-0 to Sheffield Wednesday on August 19, and defeat three days later to Bristol Rovers in the second round of the Carabao Cup hardly increased the optimism around Craven Cottage.

However, goals from Neeskens Kebano and Rui Fonte secured Slavisa Jokanovic's side all three points at previously unbeaten Ipswich, a result which propelled the West London outfit up to 14th in the Championship table.

Fulham are seeking to build upon their sixth place finish last term by sustaining a promotion push this time round, although they will have to do that without influential forward Sone Aluko.

The 28-year-old only moved to Craven Cottage last summer following a four-year stint at Hull City, and bagged eight goals and laid on 12 assists in 47 league games for the Cottagers to help them pip Leeds to the final play-off spot.

Yet the Nigeria international has officially made the move to Jaap Stam's Reading on a four-year deal believed to be worth £7.5 million, and it's a deal which has stimulated quite a reaction from Fulham supporters on Twitter.

And it's fair to say that some are disappointed to see the club lose a star player like Aluko...

Bettinelli's New Deal
(http://www.fulhamfc.com/-/media/Placeholder/Players/DSC_0007622betts.jpg?w=622&h=278)

We are delighted to announce that Marcus Bettinelli has signed a contract extension with the Club.

The deal ties him to Fulham until the summer of 2020, with the Club holding an option to extend by a further 12 months.

Having graduated through the Academy, Bettinelli got a taste of senior football with successful season-long loan spells at Dartford and Accrington Stanley, before going on to make his debut for the Whites' First Team at the start of the 2014/15 campaign.

That season he ended up making 45 appearances for the Club, and his performances saw him come second in the voting for Player of the Year.

He was rewarded with a new contract, but the following term saw his progress disrupted by an injury picked up in a meeting with Hull City.

Bettinelli recovered well and returned to action at the end of the season, and last term played an important role in the closing stages of the campaign as the Whites reached the Play-Off Semi Finals.

"I'm obviously really, really happy," Bettinelli told fulhamfctv. "My heart was always here. I've been here a long time now, I love playing for this Club and I'm just thankful that I've signed a new contract."

Tony Khan added: "Marcus Bettinelli is an important member of the Fulham Football Club family, and I'm very pleased that we've agreed to a contract extension with him.

"He has performed very well and made major contributions for our team, and he has a bright future ahead, so we are thrilled to have Marcus with our club.

"He's not only a very gifted player, but also a good person with strong character, which makes him a valuable part of our foundation as we continue to build a club that will have the talent and culture to win matches and make our supporters proud."

Fulham keeper Marcus Bettinelli agrees contract extension at Craven Cottage

The 25-year-old has out pen-to-paper on a new three year deal with the option of a further year if the club decide to take the option

Marcus Bettinelli has signed a contract extension at Fulham that will see him remain at the club until 2020, with the option of a further year.

The 25-year-old graduated through the Fulham academy and has gone on to become a fan favourite at the Cottage, ending last season as the number one keeper as they made the Play-offs.

He suffered an injury in the pre-season defeat to Wolfsburg at the start of this season and has since played in the Carabao Cup defeat to Bristol, but will now be looking to push on with the club after signing the deal.

"I'm obviously really, really happy," Bettinelli told fulhamfctv.

"My heart was always here. I've been here a long time now, I love playing for this Club and I'm just thankful that I've signed a new contract."

Fulham have the option to extend Bettinelli's contract by a further 12 months

Fulham goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli has signed a contract extension to stay with the Championship side until 2020.

Bettinelli has made 69 appearances for Fulham, having come through the club's academy system.

The 25-year-old suffered a hamstring injury before the start of this season, but made his return in the EFL Cup defeat by Bristol Rovers on 22 August.

"I love playing for this club and I'm just thankful that I've signed a new contract," he told the club website.

Bettinelli pens new Fulham deal
by Dan on August 30, 2017

Fulham goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli has this morning signed a new three-year contract that will keep him at Craven Cottage until 2020.

The academy graduate, who joined Fulham as a 14 year-old, has notched up 145 senior appearances at the age of 25, with 69 of those coming for his boyhood club since he kept a clean sheet at Brentford on his Fulham debut in a 1-0 win at Griffin Park in August 2014. Bettinelli's start to the new campaign has been disrupted by an untimely hamstring injury from which he recovered in time to face Bristol Rovers in the League Cup and there had been speculation that he might move on this summer.

Bettinelli, who had previously rebuffed serious interest from Chelsea, had been linked with switches to Bristol City and Nottingham Forest in July but told Fulham FCTV that he was delighted to put pen to paper on his new deal. The former England under-21 international said:

I'm obviously really, really happy. My heart was always here. I've been here a long time now, I love playing for this Club and I'm just thankful that I've signed a new contract.

Middlesbrough make move for Oxford star, clearing Fulham's path in Jota hunt

Reports are suggesting that the 26-year-old United forward is to undergo a medical at Boro ahead of completing a move

Middlesbrough are on the verge of completing a £2million deal for Oxford winger Marvin Johnson, which suggests that the Tees-siders have moved away from Brentford wing wizard Jota.

Reports are suggesting that the 26-year-old United forward is to undergo a medical at Boro ahead of completing a move.

With Boro on the verge of completing a move for the winger, it would appear to rule them out of returning with an increased offer for Jota, with Adama Traore set to remain at the Riverside Stadium.

Middlesbrough are understood to have had a £4.5m offer knocked back by the Bees last week and west London rivals Fulham are now leading the chase.

The Whites are embarking on a spending spree after selling Sone Aluko to Reading for a fee believed to be in the region of £7.5million.

Jota is not their only target though with reports suggesting that they have made a £15m bid for Newcastle striker Dwight Gayle.

Rui Fonte grateful to Arsenal for teaching him the mental toughness needed to succeed in football

The 27-year-old Fulham man spent three years at Arsenal before returning to Portugal having signed for the north London club as a 16-year-old

Rui Fonte believes his difficult time at Arsenal as a youngster has made him "mentally stronger" and is grateful for the opportunity, despite its hardships.

The 27-year-old signed for the Gunners in 2006, when he was just 16-years-old, making the move from Sporting, a club he had been at since he was nine, but found the going tough, making only one appearance in the League Cup before being sent on loan to Crystal Palace.

Moving country is hard at any age, let alone at 16, and Fonte believes he was too young to make such a move, especially to one of the biggest clubs in the country.

However, the striker is grateful for the time he spent at the club as it increased his mental strength, something he has put to use in his future career as Braga captain and now as a Fulham man.

He said: "It's a different time now, I was 16 and stayed there until I was 19 - it was good but it was difficult because I was too young.

"When you're that young, if you're not strong enough mentally it gets real tough when the hard times come but now I'm 27, it's been a long time since then.

"It was a good thing for my career to get mentally strong however.

"There's a few more teams that now try and play differently than the typical English football but it's still a great Championship because anyone can beat anyone."

Grant Hanley sale confirmed - two more Newcastle United players set to leave - Fulham table £15m offer for Dwight Gayle

GRANT HANLEY has completed a £3.5m move to Norwich City, with Jack Colback and Achraf Lazaar also close to finalising moves away from St James' Park.

However, the Magpies are still to decide what to do with Dwight Gayle ahead of tomorrow night's transfer deadline.

Fulham have tabled a £15m offer for Gayle, but Newcastle are only willing to sell the striker if they can secure a replacement ahead of tomorrow's 11pm cut-off point.

Hanley has signed a four-year deal at Norwich after successfully agreeing terms with the Canaries earlier today.

He leaves Tyneside for a fee of around £3.5m, having made a total of 17 senior appearances during his 13 months at St. James' Park. His only Newcastle goal came against QPR.

Hanley joined Newcastle in a £5.5m move from Blackburn Rovers last summer, but struggled to make any kind of impression in a black-and-white shirt. His final Magpies appearance came in last week's ill-fated Carabao Cup game with Nottingham Forest.

Colback is in talks with Wolves about a possible season-long loan, with the Molineux club having outmuscled Hull City in the race to land the central midfielder.

Lazaar, meanwhile, is close to completing a loan move to Benevento, with the Italian club having agreed a clause that will enable them to complete a permanent €3.5m transfer next summer.

All three exits should go through well ahead of the deadline, but Gayle's future remains shrounded in uncertainty.

Newcastle value Gayle at around £20m, but with Fulham determined to splash the cash ahead of tomorrow night's transfer deadline, sources close to the discussions suggest a compromise could be possible after the London club tabled an initial offer of £15m.

Gayle, who cost Newcastle £10m when he signed from Crystal Palace, scored 23 Championship goals as United won the title last season, but he has fallen out of favour with Rafael Benitez and was not in the squad for last weekend's 3-0 win over West Ham.

Benitez has told the rest of Newcastle's recruitment team that he is willing to sell the 26-year-old – but only if there is a cast-iron guarantee of a replacement coming through the door before tomorrow's deadline.

Newcastle have sounded out Liverpool about a possible deal for Belgian striker Divock Origi, and also retain a long-standing interest in Arsenal's Lucas Perez. They made a number of inquiries about Stevan Jovetic earlier in the window, but the former Manchester City forward joined Monaco yesterday.

In January 2011, Newcastle sold Andy Carroll to Liverpool on deadline day and did not have time to secure a replacement. There are fears of the same thing happening again, although Benitez is adamant he does not want Gayle to leave Tyneside if there is any chance of him not being adequately replaced.

Newcastle have signed Joselu from Stoke City this summer, but have lost Emmanuel Riviere, who signed a permanent deal with Metz.

Report: West Ham competing with Fulham for Jota's signing after Middlesbrough concede defeat

The Brentford midfielder could be off to one of West Ham United or Fulham with Middlesbrough 'refusing to enter into an auction'.

West Ham United are competing with Fulham for the signing of Brentford winger Jota, after Middlesbrough conceded defeat, according to The Northern Echo.

The report claims Middesbrough have refused to enter into an auction for the Spaniard, 'paving the way' for a late West Ham approach.

Brentford are said to want £8 million for Jota, in whom the Hammers have long been credited with interest.

And that, according to The Northern Echo, has been enough to put Middlesbrough off.

The report adds that Jota would prefer to remain in London, which appears to leave West Ham or Fulham as his most likely destination ahead of Thursday's transfer deadline.

The 26-year-old has excelled for Brentford this calendar year, scoring 12 goals and assisting eight in 25 Championship outings since his return from Eibar.

But the Bees are facing a losing battle to keep hold of him, with his contract expiring at the end of the campaign.

This man can definitely be the answer to Fulham's goal-scoring problems

According to reports from the Shields Gazette, Championship club Fulham have launched a £15 million bid for Premier League striker Dwight Gayle.

The Newcastle forward has been subject to a host of different rumours linking him with a move away from St James' Park with Leeds and now Fulham emerging as the favourites for his signature.

The 26-year-old only joined Rafa Benitez's side last year and enjoyed a fruitful campaign in the Championship.

Gayle bagged himself 23 goals and two assists in 32 league games as Newcastle snatched the Championship title away from Brighton late on in the campaign.

Here at FLW, we think this would be a fantastic signing for Fulham.

How Aden Flint fits into the plans of Birmingham City, Norwich City, Fulham and Middlesbrough

A looks at the jigsaw of transfer deals going on for Championship defenders

The transfer window at this time of year can be like a game of dominos, with one deal triggering a series of reactions.

Bristol City defender Aden Flint is reportedly wanted by four Championship clubs, Birmingham City, Norwich City, Fulham and Middlesbrough, but none of those sides are putting all their eggs in one basket.

he Blues had a third bid of £3.5m turned down by the Robins yesterday.

Aden Flint (Image: Alex James/JMP)

And with just two days left in the transfer market time is running out for a deal to go through, with the clubs involved in the saga also signing other players.

Here is how the whole jigsaw looks.

Ryan Shotton's move to Middlesbrough from Birmingham for reportedly £3m has been confirmed today.

Boro's bid for Shotton was accepted three weeks ago but Birmingham did not want to let their man go until they had a replacement lined up. That deal could potentially end Middlesbrough's muted interest in Flint.

Birmingham City have themselves been actively pursuing a number of defenders to replace Shotton, with Flint one of their main defensive targets - but he is proving too pricey for Harry Redknapp's liking.

However, Harlee Dean of Brentford looks likely to be joining the Blues for £2.5m, according to the Birmingham Mail. That could mean the Blues have all the defenders they need.

Norwich City's interest could well be cooling as well as the Canaries have bagged Newcastle United defender Grant Hanley.

Norwich are not a big spending club this summer so it would be extremely unlikely for them to splash out the money the Robins are asking for Flint having secured another defender.

Meanwhile Fulham appear to have forgotten all about their concerns at the back and switched their attention to their attacking options, tabling a bid of £15m for Newcastle United striker Dwight Gayle.

Rotherham United: Millers land new goalkeeper

Rotherham United today made summer signing No 9 as young Fulham goalkeeper Marek Rodak joined them on a loan deal until the end of the season.

The 20-year-old Slovak is on international duty and won't be eligible for Sunday's League One trip to Portsmouth.

But the youngster, who excelled during a spell at Accrington Stanley in League Two last season, arrives as an immediate first-team contender.

With three keepers - No 1 Richard O'Donnell and back-ups Lewis Price and Laurence Bilboe - already on the Millers books, it could be that one of that trio leave before the close of the transfer window tomorrow night.

Tomorrow is shaping up to be a busy day for Rotherham and manager Paul Warne. There could be two more incomings, a centre-half and possibly a striker, and departures from AESSEAL New York Stadium may also happen.

Rodak made 21 appearances for Accrington last term after completing a loan deal in January and made his Fulham debut earlier this month in a 2-0 Carabao Cup win at Wycombe Wanderers.

He is contracted to the Cottagers until the end of this season.

Loan Deal For Rodák
(http://www.fulhamfc.com/-/media/Placeholder/Players/rexfeatures_8987774w622.jpg?w=622&h=278)

The Club can confirm that Marek Rodák has joined Sky Bet League One side Rotherham United on a season-long loan deal.

The 20-year-old goalkeeper made his First Team debut for Fulham in the EFL Cup victory at Wycombe Wanderers earlier this season, but will now continue his development at the New York Stadium for the remainder of 2017/18.

Rodák is currently away on international duty with Slovakia Under-21s and so will miss the Millers' trip to Portsmouth on Saturday, but he could feature at home to Bury a week later.

We wish Marek the best of luck during his time in South Yorkshire.

Rodák in action for Stanley

ROTHERHAM United have completed their ninth summer signing with the arrival of young shot stopper Marek Rodák on a season-long loan from Championship side Fulham.

The 20-year-old custodian has enjoyed loan spells with Farnborough, Welling and Accrington Stanley, and it was at the latter where he made a name for himself during the second half of last season.

He conceded 28 goals while making 21 appearances in all competitions for League Two Stanley, securing eight clean sheets.

Rodák is a Slovakia youth international and has turned out five times for the U19s and twice for the U21s.

Leeds United among clubs eyeing move for talented Championship midfielder

According to reports from the Daily Mail, Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Jordan Graham is a target for Championship clubs Hull, Fulham, and Leeds who also face competition from Premier League Leicester City.

The 22-year-old missed all but three match days during the 2016/17 Championship season due to a knee injury he suffered midway through the previous year's campaign.

This season the knee injury has reared its head again after he featured for just six minutes against Middlesbrough on the opening day of the season.

He has played in both of Wolves' Carabao Cup victories this season, providing the assists in the club's 1-0 victory over Yeovil in the first round of the competition.

Fulham's interest in the player comes on the same day that it was confirmed that the London club had tabled a £15 million offer for Newcastle United forward Dwight Gayle.

If that deal goes through it is likely the Cottagers will want Graham on loan for this season with the option to buy come to the end of the campaign.

Both Leeds and Hull have had very busy transfer windows, with Leeds bringing in 13 new players and Hull bringing in 10.

The winger was in top form before his injury which is believed to be the cause of all the interest surrounding him.

The Verdict

This is a tough one because injuries can completely change a player.

There is the risk that if any of the interested clubs purchased the player that he wouldn't be able to repeat his fine form that was on display before his knee injury.

In the eleven league games before his injury, Graham contributed six assists and one goal.

If he can recreate that form then any one of Leeds, Fulham, and Hull will be onto a winner but it could easily blow up in their faces.

Newcastle United preparing £20m bid for Sampdoria's Dennis Praet as Fulham chase Dwight Gayle
Rafael Benitez's side have reportedly been chasing a move for Praet for a number of months.

Newcastle United are reportedly readying a £20m ($25.8m) bid for Sampdoria attacker Denis Praet and may sell striker Dwight Gayle to Fulham in order to fund a deal for the talented Belgian.

According to SportItalia, as relayed by talkSPORT, Rafael Benitez's side have been interested in Praet for much of the summer transfer window and have already seen two bids for the former Anderlecht star rejected by the Serie A outfit.

Sampdoria do not seem to be willing to part with the 23-year-old playmaker, who only arrived in Genoa from Anderlecht for around €10m, but Newcastle are reportedly preparing a third offer for Praet, who has earned one cap for Belgium.

Despite Premier League clubs being seemingly awash with cash this summer, Benitez has not been able to spend as much as his rivals and has instead had to look for cut-price deals in a market where value for money is but a distant memory.

In order to raise the funds to purchase Praet, Newcastle may offload striker Dwight Gayle to Fulham, who submitted a £15m bid for the former Crystal Palace forward on Tuesday (29 August).

Slavisa Jokanovic's side have already signed strikers Rui Fonte and Aboubakar Kamara from Braga and Amiens respectively but have now registered their interest in Gayle as they attempt to strengthen their chances of promotion back to England's top-flight.

Fulham have denied that they have made any offer for Gayle, who scored 24 goals in just 34 appearances for Newcastle as they secured promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking, but the west London outfit are in talks with the Magpies over a potential transfer for the 27-year-old, according to Sky Sports News.

Newcastle are reportedly hoping to receive around £20m for Gayle but will do business for around £18m. It remains to be seen if Fulham can shell out such an amount, though their coffers were swelled significantly by the sale of Sone Aluko, who joined Reading on Tuesday for £7.5m.

Newcastle set Gayle price at £20m

Newcastle have set Dwight Gayle's price tag at £20m, amid interest from Championship side Fulham.

According to Sky Sports, Fulham have made a £15m offer for the striker, which does not meet Newcastle's valuation.

Newcastle are willing to let Gayle leave this summer, if they are able to bring in a replacement of their own first.

This is despite Gayle being Newcastle's top goalscorer last season. Gayle scored 23 goals in 34 Championship matches as the Toon won the league and were promoted back to the top-flight.

Fulham are now looking to take a similar route and hope Gayle can propel them up the league and back into the Premier League.

However, they will have to match Newcastle's £20m price tag, which would smash the London-based club's transfer record.

Fulham sold Sone Aluko to Reading for £7.5m earlier this week, potentially helping to fund a move for Gayle before the window closes.

'He's class': Leeds fans react to reported interest in 22-year-old Wolves ace Jordan Graham

Leeds are one of a number of clubs interested in the Wolves winger.

Leeds will face competition from Leicester, Hull and Fulham in their pursuit of Wolves winger Jordan Graham, according to a report by the Daily Mail.

The 22-year-old has made a return to first-team action at Molineux this season, but looks surplus to requirements in his natural position on the wing.

Instead, he has featured in an unfamiliar wing-back role for Nuno Espirito Santo in his two appearances this term.

Before a knee injury suffered in Januray 2016 caused him to miss 79 games for Wolves, Graham impressed by laying on six assists in 11 league games in the 2015/16 season.

According to the Mail, the Foxes want Graham as a replacement for the departed Tom Lawrence, while Fulham are supposedly interested in a loan deal.

However, it is Leeds fans who have been most excited about the possibility of signing the Aston Villa youth. Some even see him as an ideal replacement for Hadi Sacko out wide, who would be able to provide better strength in depth behind Ezgjan Alioski, Samu Saiz and Pablo Hernandez.

Along with Whites supporters, Wolves followers have also been discussing Graham's possible exit, and it's clear they really do not want to lose their man:

Newcastle's transfer business set to go to the wire as Fulham push for Dwight Gayle deal

Newcastle United's transfer business is set to go into the final few hours of the transfer window.

Dwight Gayle could yet leave the club if Fulham raise their £15million offer – and Newcastle secure a replacement.

The Championship club remain in talks with United over the 26-year-old, who scored 23 goals last season.

Newcastle are targeting Liverpool's Divock Origi as a potential loan replacement. Any sale would be dependent on the Magpies securing a replacement. Manager Rafa Benitez also hasn't given up hope of securing Chelsea winger Kenedy on a season-long deal. It's a club with high aspirations and a fresh start for me. Grant Hanley Benitez also wants to bring in a goalkeeper. There will also be more departures.

Grant Hanley yesterday signed for Norwich City. The defender said: "It's a club with high aspirations and a fresh start for me." Midfielder Jack Colback, also not in Benitez's plans, is wanted on loan by Wolverhampton Wanderers. Colback was told earlier this month that he was unlikely to be named in Benitez's 25-man Premier League squad.

Defender Achraf Lazaar, signed from Palermo last summer, is set to return to Serie A. Long-serving goalkeeper Tim Krul – who has been training at the club's Academy – is also likely to leave, either on loan or on a permanent deal, before tonight's 11pm deadline.

Leeds United miss out on attacking target to fellow Championship club

Leeds United have been beaten to the signing of Wolves midfielder Jordan Graham by fellow Championship side Fulham, according to Pete O'Rourke.

The 22-year-old is reportedly set to join Fulham on a season-long loan as a replacement for Sone Aluko, who joined Reading earlier this week, amid interest from Leeds United and Hull City.

Graham returned from an 18-month absence at the end of last season but a summer of heavy recruitment by Wolves have limited his chances of regular game-time at Molineux. As a result, he is poised to spend the season on loan at Craven Cottage in a bid to reignite his career.

Leeds, meanwhile, thought to be close to completing deals for Malmo forward Pawel Cibicki and Hamburg striker Pierre-Michel Lasogga so it remains unknown whether the Whites will look elsewhere after missing out on Graham or focus on their other targets.

Thomas Christiansen's side are looking to strengthen their strikeforce after losing last season's top goalscorer Chris Wood to Burnley for a fee of £15m, which Christiansen promised would be reinvested in the team. Teenage striker Jay-Roy Grot arrived from NEC last week and Leeds are expected to make at least two deadline day signings.

Leeds' pursuit of Norwich frontman Nelson Oliveira, however, appears to have come to a halt, with Swansea reportedly agreeing a £12m for the man that they see as the perfect replacement for Chelsea-bound Fernando Llorente. Wolves were also interested in Oliveira but could now turn their attentions to Porto striker Vincent Aboubakar.

Why Newcastle Should Blindly Complete This £15m Deal With Fulham – Rafa Could Use The Money

£15million Is A Good Sum Of Money Rafa! – Sell Dwight Gayle Off

Championship clubs Leeds United, Norwich City and Fulham are reportedly interested in bringing in Newcastle striker Dwight Gayle before the transfer deadline, alerted by the fact that the No.9 was left out of Rafa Benitez's squad for the West Ham game and is apparently available for sale.

Fulham are the first of the trio to affirm their interested with an apparent £15million bid, though Newcastle have said they are only willing to trade at around £20million. The question from a Newcastle perspective though is; should they sell their last season's top scorer?

True, Gayle was vital in getting Newcastle up last term, having netted 23 times in 32 Championship games. That is very impressive, though it's the second figure there which is a concern. Gayle, and we're including sub appearances here, played just 69% of the Toon's games last term and his injury concerns were apparent once again in pre-season.

Rafa Benitez said repeatedly last season that in each week's training he could not split Gayle and Aleksandar Mitrovic on ability and so it may be significant again that Mitro came off the bench to score against West Ham, already his second goal of the season, while Gayle has not shone in that regard.

A further dent in Gayle's chances is the cheap signing of Joselu, the former Stoke man impressing the fans since joining and scoring a full debut goal against the Hammers last time out.

So, with Rafa desperate for funds, two in-form strikers already being at his disposal and Gayle a potential injury case and unproven as a scorer at the top level, you could argue that £15million-plus would be a great deal for Newcastle.

Plenty of fans will not want to read this and those with a more permanent disposition for whining about their football club will say that selling is never good. But they must see the bigger picture. Putting yourself in Rafael Benitez's position makes this deal crystal clear – sell him!

Rafa needs the cash and this potential deal may well mean that his other targets have now been sanctioned, so long as there is some money coming in. Gayle, in theory, is no longer needed should Joselu play well and once Lejeune comes back, there would precisely be zero requirements for Grant Hanley either.

So, getting certain players off the books creates the sort of funds the manager needs and a case can even be made that £15million is a lot of money for Gayle given what he has achieved in the Premier League to date.

Birmingham to hijack Fulham's move for Brentford playmaker Jota

The two clubs have reportedly agreed a deal for the Spaniard as Birmingham look to hijack Fulham's move for the playmaker

Birmingham have reportedly hijacked Fulham's move for Jota, according to the Daily Mail .

The 26-year-old looked to have been on his way to Craven Cottage but it now looks as though Harry Redknapp has made a bid which has been accepted for the Spaniard.

According to the report, Birmingham and Brentford have agreed a £6m fee plus add-ons for the playmaker, despite Brentford initially wanting £8m for their player.

Middlesbrough were interested in Jota earlier on in the window and saw a lower bid rejected and it now looks like Birmingham are in the driving seat for his signature.

Redknapp has already moved for a Brentford player this summer, having signed Harlee Dean from the club yesterday in a reported £2m deal.

Birmingham City set to sign £6m rated West Ham, Hull City and Fulham target

According to the Daily Mail's live deadline day transfer feed, Birmingham City are set to sign Brentford midfielder Jota in a deal worth around £6 million with add-ons expected to play a part of the deal.

The 26-year-old has been rumored to be set for a move away from Griffin Park all summer and with a long summer transfer window finally closing today, it is thought Birmingham City could be the midfielders next club.

Jota has scored 23 goals in 69 appearances for Brentford and spent time on loan at Eibar for personal reasons, signing for the Spanish club on an 18-month loan in January 2016 but returned to Brentford on New Year's Eve in 2016.

The attacking midfielder has an impressive career record of 52 goals in 194 league games and has attracted a number of potential suitors during this summer transfer window including West Ham, Middlesbrough, Hull City and Fulham.

Harry Redknapp has been keen to do late business with his Birmingham City side with the club announcing the signing of Harlee Dean from Brentford yesterday and the club look set to make a double capture from the Bees with it appearing Jota could be making a move to the Midlands.

Jota would be a fantastic signing for Birmingham City and would further strengthen Harry Redknapp's team which is widely expected to succeed in the Championship after a fantastic transfer window.

If Jota was to sign for Birmingham City, he would become their 11th signing of the summer and would be expected to fit straight into their team.

Fulham edging closer to deal for Championship midfielder

According to Football Insider, Fulham are set to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers' Jordan Graham on-loan today.

Graham is set to leave Molineux temporarily as he does not feature in Nuno Espirito Santo's plans for the current Sky Bet Championship season, with Fulham set to win the race to sign the exciting winger.

Leeds United and Hull City were two other Championship clubs reportedly interested in Graham, but Fulham and Slavisa Jokanovic look set to benefit from the 22-year-old's qualities over the next year, with the winger on the verge of completing a loan move to Craven Cottage.

Graham has shown plenty of promise in the Wolves first-team during his time at Molineux, but injuries have limited the youngster to just 14 Championship appearances since he arrived at Molineux permanently in January 2015.

The 22-year-old missed most of the 2016/17 campaign through injury, making just two appearances, which came during the closing weeks of the season.

So far this season Graham has struggled to find a place in Nuno's new 3-4-3 formation, with the winger limited to just three appearances across all competitions and just one outing in the Championship.

Fulham are looking to add Graham to their squad to replace Sone Aluko, who sealed a move away from Craven Cottage earlier this week, linking up with Reading.

The Verdict

It is not surprising to see Wolves moving Graham out on-loan, with the midfielder's opportunities looking limited and the player in desperate need of a run of first-team football.

The deal for Graham has the potential to be an excellent piece of business for Fulham, who are looking to replace the departed Aluko.

Whilst Graham doesn't have the experience of Aluko, he will bring an edge to Fulham's attack and if he can stay fit during his spell at Craven Cottage, he could prove to be an excellent deadline day addition.

Birmingham and Brentford 'agree Jota' deal after days of Fulham and Middlesbrough speculation

Spanish midfielder has been the subject of bids from Boro and was also closely linked with a move to Fulham

Birmingham City have pulled off a surprise deadline day deal for Brentford midfielder Jota.

The Spanish 26-year-old had been widely expected to join London rivals Fulham but Birmingham manager Harry Redknapp appears to have nipped in.

Sky Sports have reported that a £6m fee has been agreed and Redknapp told talkSPORT this morning: "We are very, very pleased to have got that one done".

Boro saw an offer in the region of £4.5m rejected last week and reports on Wednesday had suggested Jota was keen to stay in the capital.

It is thought Boro were determined not to be drawn into a bidding war for a player who was due to enter the final year of his contract at Griffin Park.

Jota will now undergo a medical in Birmingham.

Stewart Downing has been linked with a move to St Andrew's all summer but has played a part for Boro in the past two cames after being introduced by Garry Monk as a substitute.

Leeds United and Fulham £20m target leaves Newcastle United's training ground at 9am

The Daily Star has reported that Leeds United and Fulham's £20m target Dwight Gayle was part of a training ground gaffe today as he arrived at Newcastle's training ground four hours early today at 9am before leaving immediately.

Newcastle United's first team training is supposedly set to start at 2pm, furthermore, the first team are not due to arrive at the training ground until around 1pm.

Gayle has attracted a wealth of interest during this transfer window from a number of clubs and at one point it appeared that he was set to sign for Fulham with both Newcastle and the Cottagers set to be in talks over the strikers future.

Supposedly, Gayle's relationship with his manager Rafael Benitez has been somewhat under pressure and with Ayoze Perez, Joselu and Alexander Mitrovic appearing to be ahead of the striker in the pecking order at Newcastle, he could be set for a move away from St. James' Park.

Fulham have the cash to spend on Gayle after striker Sone Aluko left the London club to sign for Reading on a £7.5 million deal and they had apparently bid double that amount, with them supposedly submitted a £15m fee to Newcastle to try and lure Gayle to Craven Cottage for this Championship season.

The Gayle transfer saga will be resolved by the end of today but with several clubs supposedly interested in the striker including Leeds United and Wolves alongside Fulham, it will be interesting to see where he ends up.

Harry Redknapp confirms Birmingham have beaten Fulham in race for Brentford star

The Blues have had a bid accepted and the Spaniard is currently looking to pass a medical and agree personal terms

Harry Redknapp has confirmed that Birmingham are in prime position to complete a deal for Brentford wing wizard Jota.

The Blues have had a bid accepted and the Spaniard is currently looking to pass a medical and agree personal terms.

And Redknapp, for whom transfer deadline day appears to be his favourite two days of the year despite numerous claims to the contrary, feels he has one of the best players in the division.

"A good player, a real talent. A real good footballer, can play, score goals," Redknapp told talkSPORT.

"It's hoping to be done, it's not done yet. I just identify them then it's up to other people to get them in. I am not sure where we are at with it, hopefully it will get done.

"He plays off the right, he has got great ability, certainly there wouldn't be many better players in the Championship than him - that's for sure. He's up there with the best players I would think.

"We are very, very pleased to have got that one done."

From Portugal: Everton turn attention to former Fulham striker Kostas Mitroglou

It seems Everton have turned out to be a late option for the future of Konstantinos Mitroglou from Benfica.

The Greek striker is currently wanted by Marseille, who according to the Portuguese press, spent Wednesday in negotiations for him.

Benfica are said to be demanding €25m for the player, but the French side are struggling to meet those figures, and are unlikely to offer more than €20m.

That's where Everton come in.

As reported by Diário de Notícias, Everton have already showed their interest in the striker before and could be an option now.

Mitroglou isn't their priority for today, as Ronald Koeman would like to have Diego Costa from Chelsea instead... at least according to Diário de Notícias.

Mitroglou isn't the only Benfica striker to be linked to Everton this summer, as we've been following the rumours regarding Raul Jimenez as well.

Could Everton be mentioned just to put more pressure on Marseille for them to raise their bid? That's very possible. But Mitroglou also comes up as a cheaper option after the Toffees got to know Benfica want more than €40m for Jimenez.

Fulham on the verge of signing 28-year-old, medical expected this afternoon

Released from his contract after 'flipping the bird' at Zenit St Petersburg fans who came to watch a reserves game, Yohan Mollo is now expected to ply his trade in the Championship.

According to L'Equipe in France, the former Saint-Etienne winger, who has spent the past two years in Russia between KS Samara and Roberto Mancini's side.

The French newspaper report that the 28-year-old is expected to sign a one year contract at Craven Cottage, with the option to extend his stay by another season if the club wish to do so.

Mollo will undergo his medical ahead of his transfer to Slavisa Jokanovic's side on Thursday afternoon.

L'Equipe also reveal that in order to get their man, the Cottagers had to see off some competition, notably Nantes in France, who tried to lure him with a low-cost deal, which clearly didn't go down too well.

During his 172 appearances in Ligue 1 with Monaco, Nancy, Caen and Saint-Etienne, the French winger scored 21 goals and picked up 31 assists.

In Russia? Six goals and 10 assists in 42 games.

Fulham Closing In On French Winger

Fulham are closing in on the signature of former Zenit St. Petersburg winger Yohan Mollo.

The 28-year-old was freed from his contract at Russian giants Zenit earlier this week, but is not set to be without a club for long with a move to the English Championship on the cards.

According to French sports daily L'Equipe, Mollo is closing in on a switch to Craven Cottage.

French Ligue 1 side Nantes have also been chasing Mollo's signature, but look to have been beaten by Fulham.

The French winger would not have to rush to sign for Fulham today though as he is a free agent, which means he is able to move outside the transfer window system.

Mollo slipped out of favour at Zenit and then fell out with fans, something which meant a contract termination was quickly on the cards.

A product of Monaco's youth set-up, Mollo has also played in Spain, through a spell with Granada.

Fulham £20m deal to sign Leeds United target "all but dead"

According to the Daily Mail's live transfer feed, a deal for Fulham to sign Newcastle United striker Dwight Gayle is unlikely to happen due to a £20m asking price that the Magpies are trying to pursue.

The Dwight Gayle transfer saga has rumbled on over the last few days and seems to be reaching a resolution now with it looking like the London club will look elsewhere to sign a striker on Deadline Day.

The striker scored 23 goals in 32 appearances for Newcastle United last season and it appears that he won't be on his way to London.

As the deadline of 11pm draws closer though, there could be a chance that Fulham may come up with the £20 million in cash to sign the striker. Another possibility is that they test Newcastle with a lower bid and see whether the Premier League club gives in to late pressure in the transfer window.

Leeds United and Wolves had been rumoured to be interested in Gayle but an asking price of £20 million is likely to be considered as too much and considering the fact that Leeds United have announced the signing of Pawel Cibicki and are set to sign Pierre Michel-Lasogga, a move to Elland Road seems unlikely for Gayle.

With Gayle looking set to stay put at Newcastle, his focus will be firmly upon getting back into the club's first team after supposedly falling behind in the pecking order to Joselu, Alexander Mitrovic and Ayoze Perez.

There is a chance though that the striker may still move away from St. James' Park and we'll bring more information as soon as we find out.

Fulham looking to sign former Zenit winger on free transfer

The winger looks set to sing an initial one-year deal after he left Zenit by mutual consent

Fulham are looking to add Yohan Mollo to their ranks on a free transfer after his Zenit St Petersburg contract was cancelled.

The 28-year-old looks set to sign a one-year deal with the option of a further year at the club's discretion and is to undergo his medical this afternoon.

The Frenchman has had a variety of clubs in his career, ranging from Monaco, Caen, Granada, Nancy, St-Etienne, Kryliya Sovetov and finally Zenit.

He only signed for the Russian club in January and signed a three-and-a-half year contract with Zenit, before cancelling his contract on August 30 by mutual consent.

Fulham have missed out on Jota, with the Spaniard heading to Birmingham instead of the Cottage, while they remain in the hunt for Jordan Graham and Dwight Gayle.

Fulham defender to stay despite Tottenham, Liverpool and Manchester United interest

According to the Daily Mail's live transfer feed, Fulham's Ryan Sessegnon is going to stay with the club despite interest from Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham.

The London club supposedly asked the FA not to call the young defender up for international duty with England because they feel that he needed rest.

Sessegnon has enjoyed a fantastic breakthrough season with Fulham, making 25 appearances in the Championship during last season and scoring five goals at just 17-years-old from left-back.

The defender also broke into England's U19 side and has made 11 appearances for his country, scoring on four occasions and winning the Euro U19s finals during this summer. Most remarkably, Sessegnon finished as the tournament's joint top-scorer from left-back which highlights his attacking talent from the full-back position.

Although a range of Premier League clubs have been rumoured to sign the defender, it appears that he will be staying with Fulham and looking forward to being part of the Championship sides team for this season as last years beaten Play-Off semi-finalists aim to gear up for another promotion push.

Sessegnon is likely to have a highly promising career ahead of him and given the fact that he is only 17, if he is to stay with Fulham and develop with the Championship club, it could stand him in good stead should he move on to an elite Premier League club later in his career.

Fulham are thought to be having a very busy day in the transfer market on Deadline Day but a huge relief for most fans will be the fact that Sessegnon looks set to stay with the club.

Wolves transfer news: Jordan Graham set for Fulham loan move as duo swoop off

Wolves winger Jordan Graham is close to finalising a loan move to Fulham - but deals for midfielders Jack Colback and Scott McTominay are believed to have fallen through.

And Wolves' increasingly desperate search for a striker has yielded a new name with PSV's Dutch forward Jurgen Locadia emerging as a late option although they face stiff competition from Premier League clubs for his signature, including Brighton.

Graham had been chased by a number of Championship teams but Fulham, who made an official offer two days ago, have won the race and the winger travelled to London this morning for a medical.

Wolves hoped to sign either Colback or McTominay on loan to replace the departed Dave Edwards but the Newcastle man is said to be keen to stay in the north east and Manchester United youngster McTominay is set to stay at Old Trafford with the Premier League leaders believing he may have a role to play in their first team squad.

Locadia is one of several strikers still being pursued but PSV are thought to want up to £10m. The 23-year-old Dutch young international, who can also play as a winger, has netted 37 goals in 115 league appearances for PSV.

If not Wolves haven't given up hoping of snaring Jordan Rhodes from Sheffield Wednesday or Norwich striker Nelson Oliveira.

FULHAM CLOSING IN ON DEAL FOR MIDFIELDER AS DEADLINE TICKS EVER CLOSER

Reports from French publication L'Equipe has revealed that French winger Yohan Mollo is on the verge of signing for Championship club Fulham.

The 28-year-old cancelled his contract with Zenit St. Petersburg recently just seven months after joining the Russian club.

According to the reports, Mollo is set to have his medical at Fulham this afternoon ahead of his move to Craven Cottage.

Despite scoring six goals and providing four assists in just 19 league games for Zenit, Mollo quickly fell out of favour at the club and its fans which led to the contract termination.

There is no rush for the club to sign the player as Mollo, who is a product of the famed Monaco academy, is a free agent he can be signed outside of the transfer window.

The Verdict

Ignoring the fact that he fell out with his former employers and their fans, Mollo had an excellent season with Zenit.

Contributing to 10 goals in just 19 league games as a left winger can't be ignored and if he can replicate that form for Fulham then the club's goal scoring issues could soon be over.

Despite the lack of any rush to get this deal done, expect Mollo to be a Fulham player sooner rather than later.

FULHAM COULD TURN ATTENTIONS TO £17M SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY MAN AS DEADLINE EDGES CLOSER

According to the Daily Mail's live transfer feed (13:00), Championship club Fulham are giving up on their attempts to bring Newcastle striker Dwight Gayle to the club, and are considering switching attentions to Sheffield Wednesday forward Fernando Forestieri, who's rated at £17m by the club.

Recent reports had confirmed that the Cottagers had put in an official £15 million bid for the English striker but Rafa Benitez wants an offer resembling something closer to £20 million which has put Slavisa Jokanovic off going back in for the player.

The 26-year-old is yet to score for Newcastle in the Premier League this season, however, he didn't have that problem last season in the Championship.

Gayle scored 23 goals and provided two assists in 32 league games as Newcastle snatched the Championship title away from Brighton and Hove Albion.

Fulham have already brought nine new players into the club this summer with two of them, Rui Fonte and Aboubakar Kamara, being strikers.

The Verdict

Whilst it is very easy for anyone here at FLW to say Fulham should hand over the £20 million to Newcastle to get the player, it's not always that simple.

£20 million is still a lot of money for most Championship clubs and it isn't something that can just be thrown around.

With that being said, Gayle would've been a fantastic signing for the Cottagers and would have provided them with plenty of goals to help their promotion ambitions.

Report: Fulham could switch sights to Sheffield Wednesday's Fernando Forestieri with move for Newcastle United's Dwight Gayle now highly unlikely

The Sheffield Wednesday forward has emerged as a possible alternative to Newcastle United's Gayle as Fulham seek to add to their attack.

The Daily Mail reports (13:00) that Fulham could switch their sights to Sheffield Wednesday forward Fernando Forestieri with a move for Newcastle United's Dwight Gayle now highly unlikely.

Fulham were credited with interest in Forestieri at the weekend, before making a £15 million offer for Gayle.

Newcastle, though, are said to want closer to £18 million for the 26-year-old, with a replacement also needing to be found.

According to The Daily Mail, Forestieri could cost the Cottagers almost as much, with Wednesday holding out for £17 million for the Argentinian-born player, who has only started once in the Championship this season after alleged disciplinary issues.

But it is claimed that Fulham, whose manager Slavisa Jokanovic worked with Forestieri at Watford, had only been willing to offer £12 million.

Forestieri has finished each of his two full seasons at Hillsborough as Wednesday's top scorer, but recent problems could tempt the Owls to cash in on the 27-year-old, who was linked with a move to Newcastle during last summer's transfer window.

The Daily Mail also reports (11:46) that Wednesday striker Sam Winnall could be seeking a temporary move away from South Yorkshire.

Newcastle United Leave Fulham Disappointed On Dwight Gayle

Newcastle United have closed the door on selling striker Dwight Gayle on transfer deadline day.

The Magpies have been prepared to consider selling Gayle and have received a substantial offer from Championship side Fulham for the hitman.

But according to BBC Radio 5 live, Newcastle have now chosen not to sell Gayle and will keep hold of the striker.

As such the goal-getter will not be making the move to Craven Cottage, leaving Fulham disappointed.

Gayle scored 23 goals in just 32 Championship games for the Magpies last term and has been linked with several clubs in the second tier, though Fulham were the only side to lodge a bid.

Newcastle were chasing Liverpool striker Divock Origi, but have lost out as the Belgian has joined Wolfsburg on loan.

Now Newcastle boss Rafael Benitez has chosen to persist with Gayle and will hope that he can produce the goods in the Premier League for the Magpies.

Reports - Gayle Will Not Be Sold Today
An offer from Fulham was not enough to move the needle

After 48 hours during which Newcastle looked willing to part with Gayle for £18 million and was considering an offer from Fulham for £15 million, it now looks unlikely that Gayle will be going anywhere this window, according to Ian Dennis at the BBC.

The most telling portion of this tweet is the last line - "Guess hinged on getting in a replacement." It had been reported that any Gayle Sale™ would have been contingent upon lining up a replacement, with Cenk Tosun the most recent possibility. It now looks as though there is no one to replace Gayle, and this is as good a sign as any that the remainder of the transfer window will be a fruitless one for Newcastle in terms of players coming in.

Leeds United initiate contact to sign player, Huddersfield and Fulham went before them

From nowhere on Thursday, Leeds United were linked with Montpellier's William Remy. L'Equipe reported Leeds are the club pressing most to sign the central defender, and that QPR are also keen.

Contact is said to have been initiated by both clubs today, but no offers yet submitted to Montpellier.

Leeds United aren't the first English club to consider signing Remy this summer. Fulham were seriously linked towards the end of July, and that came not too long after Huddersfield Town were also said to be eager.

The player's versatility was seen as an attraction for both Fulham and Huddersfield, and it was the same when Crystal Palace were linked during the January transfer window.

For a while it's been thought that Remy is available from Montpellier, and that's probably what has given Leeds and QPR encouragement.

A couple of days ago L'Equipe reported Montpellier still hoped to find the 26 year old a new club before the end of the window.

Therefore, interest from the Championship can only be welcome and it must be assumed that if Leeds United continue to be most pressing and raise that to an offer level, a deal is very possible.

Arsenal outgoing means Leeds United and Fulham target is going nowhere

Arsenal striker Lucas Perez is on the verge of re-signing for former club Deportivo La Coruna, according to The Mirror.

At first glance, it may look as though this news has no bearing on the Championship.  However, it probably means that Fulham and Leeds United target Dwight Gayle will not be leaving current club Newcastle United today.

According to the Daily Star, Newcastle United boss Rafa Benitez began the day wanting to secure a deal for Lucas Perez from Arsenal.  With Perez now on the brink of a return to Spain, Newcastle cannot afford to let a striker leave the club without bringing one in.  Therefore, Dwight Gayle looks set to stay with Newcastle today.

Championship sides Fulham and Leeds United had been linked with moves for Gayle, with the former club going closer to signing the striker.  Fulham had a bid of £15 million rejected by Newcastle earlier today, clearly stating that Gayle would be going nowhere.

Leeds have since completed the signing of Hamburg striker Pierre-Michel Lasogga on a season-long loan deal, handing the forward the number nine shirt.  This would suggest that Leeds are not looking to bring in another striker today, and see Lasogga as their replacement for Chris Wood.

Fulham, on the other hand, could still be in the market for a striker following their failed bid for Gayle.  If the club are willing to bid £15 million once again, Fulham fans could be in for an interesting last few hours of the transfer window.

Mollo Joins Fulham
(http://www.fulhamfc.com/-/media/Player/DSC_0005Mollojoins2000.jpg?w=622&h=278)

We are delighted to confirm the arrival of Yohan Mollo, in a deal which could see the player at the Club for the next two years.

The winger spent time at Marseille's academy, before joining the youth setup at Monaco and going on to make almost 50 appearances for the Principality outfit, during which time he also took in a productive loan spell at Caen.

A brief period in La Liga followed with Granada, but he was back in France before long, making a collective 117 appearances for Nancy and then St Etienne, scoring 15 goals and laying on 27 assists.

During his time at St Etienne Mollo moved on loan to Russia with Krylya Sovetov, whom he joined permanently in the summer of 2016.

It wasn't long before his form caught the eye of Russian giants Zenit St Petersburg, who brought him in six months later. He scored once in seven appearances for Roberto Mancini's side.

A former French youth international, Mollo appeared six times for his nation's Under-21 side.

Speaking to fulhamfctv, Mollo said: "I am really happy and excited about the project.

"I have an opportunity to play in England and to play with a club with great history like Fulham with some great players. It's a big opportunity for me and I am looking forward to getting started."

Graham started out just down the road from Wolves at Aston Villa, coming through their Academy and being part of the squad which won the prestigious NextGen Series tournament in 2013.

During his time at Villa, the winger took in loan spells with Ipswich Town, Bradford City and Wolves, before making his move to Molineux permanent in January 2015.

The following term he took in a brief loan stint at Oxford United, but was soon back at Wolves, ending the season by winning the club's Twitter Player of the Year award, an accolade previously won by Kevin McDonald.

Graham has been capped numerous times by England at Under-16 and Under-17 level.

"I'm over the moon," he told fulhamfctv. "It's a wicked club to be at. I know how big a club it is. I know where it belongs, and as soon as I heard of the interest I couldn't wait to get down here and hopefully be part of a big season."

The 22-year-old winger returned to action for Wolves at the end of last season after over a year on the sidelines with a cruciate knee ligament injury.

Initially he had burst into the team with a string of assists in the middle of the 2015/16 campaign following a successful loan spell with Oxford United.

So far this season he had come off the bench in the opening Sky Bet Championship fixture with Middlesbrough, before playing 90 minutes in both Carabao Cup victories against Yeovil and Southampton.

Having arrived at Wolves on a permanent basis in January, 2015, Graham has s far made a total of 17 appearances, scoring one goal.

Everyone at Wolves wishes Jordan all the best for his loan spell.
